  1. Doesn't get any easier than the Tatula SV TWS. I've handed mine over to clients on guide trips who swore they couldn't cast a baitcaster and had them casting it like they'd be using it their whole life in a matter of minutes.
  2. I don't want a motor on mine because then I have to register it with the state. As long as I keep pedaling, I don't have to put numbers on it. I covered over 7 miles in strong winds in a tournament a couple months ago, I get around just fine.
  3. @Bankc it's a Norman's Fatboy if you're looking for another. I have a Lucky Craft Slender Pointer that a corner of the bill broke off from a rock during the retrieve. I Dremeled the bill down to the best shape I could get it and it keeps catching fish.
  4. I've had 2 of them, one I was given and one that I found. I can't honestly remember catching a fish on either and I don't know if I still own them anymore.
  5. I live 15 minutes from a BPS but I couldn't tell you the last time I was actually in the store. Most of the time I go it's because my boys want to look at the fish, I rarely buy anything when I go in there.
  6. I can use mine for drop shot, small boot tail swimbaits, grubs, and wacky rigs.
  7. I'm going with North Dakota off of NDyakanglers youtube videos.
  8. Welcome! Old Town Sportman 120PDL owner myself.
  9. Welcome!
  10. I don't disagree with a lot of his opinions, but I they're just that, opinions. If you put your opinions out there, there's going to be people that disagree with it and let you know about it. More just a statement that I think for his sake and the sake of growing his following because he is a very talented angler that has a lot of knowledge to share, I think he'd be best to stay away from the hot point topics that are mostly opinion based.
  11. Today it was a wacky rigged Berkley Maxscent General and T rigged Strike King Rodent.
  12. I still feel bad for Hank from the first Classic on Grand, losing that monster the last day that might have give him enough to overtake Cliff Pace. He's had continued success though, proving he's not a flash in the pan and deserving of the back to back trophies.
  13. Not only will I not feel bad, I'm going to give them a hard time the whole time I'm outfishing them.
  14. Saturday we had a kids fishing derby at the lake by our house. Got both the boys set up with small baitholder hooks, a bobber and piece of crawler and we were off to the races. Good thing I have a big livewell in the boat because the gills are on beds and they were pounding them. I took Lake's bobber and split shot off and let him fish a weightless piece of worm, getting him some practice feeling and seeing bites. I think he did better like that than with the bobber. 2 hours of fishing, they both ended up with 17 fish, a mix of bluegill, a warmouth, a green sunfish, and a bass each. Both won biggest, smallest, and most fish for the boats division in each of their respective age groups. Sunday, I drove 25 minutes to a park lake just to find the whole park closed until noon for a race ? Something really irritating about buying a boat and fishing permit to be able to fish a lake just for them to restrict access to it. So I ended up driving almost an hour to end up 5 minutes from my house. Bite was slow at first, but then I put it together a little bit and caught some better quality ones. Got a new phone and haven't found a good floating case, so I have one of those cheap ones from Academy with the strap and it was apparently foggy for my biggest fish, which was just over 18". Caught both my biggest fish skipping a wacky rigged Berkley Maxscent The General under dock walkways. Grass everywhere, but they wouldn't come through it to eat a frog. Had one little guy decide to play, that was it other than a couple halfhearted swirls. I'd forgotten my sunblock and I could feel the heat on my legs, then some fools that were fishing off their dock threw a 1/4 stick in the lake 50 yards away from me, figured it was about time for me to leave at that point before they blew a hole in my kayak.
  15. Starting to put the pieces together is always a good feeling.
  16. He has a tendency to come off as whiney but he's a very good fisherman and has lots of good knowledge to share. He needs to stick to the teaching and stay away from the hot button topics.
  17. I assume it's a broke back Rapala. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Rapala_Jointed_Minnow/descpage-RJMN.html
  18. My younger Golden likes to lick fish, but she knows better than to jump on me to try and get that accomplished. If she's going to get a fish lick, it's because I offer to let her do it. The one time she got over excited and jumped at one, she came down on a Shine Glide and ended up with Decoy Quattro 1/0 buried in her leg. That was the day she learned why we don't jump and snap at fish and she hasn't done it since. My older dog really couldn't care less about the fish I catch. All she cares about is relaxing and swimming when she gets the chance. I took the time to train her well though and she's always been great in the boat, I forget she's in there a lot of the time. Waits patently for me to load the boat when we're done too.
  19. I use 15lb Tatsu for 75% of my jig fishing. Sounds like 15lb would be perfect for what you're doing or you could drop down to 12lb if tying 15lb leader is an issue.
  20. This. The Hard Candy on a 3/0 EWG, 1/4oz pegged weight and the just the tips of the tails dipped in chartreuse JJ's pitched around any kind of cover looks a lot like a baby gill, and the bass react accordingly. I use them as a jig trailer, usually save the torn ones and use them. I hate cutting a new one for a trailer. Trying the Zman Goat as a more durable option but haven't had much time to test it yet.
  21. That's what I'd say if I was charging by the inch too ?
  22. I try to get the line tight but I've got a hair trigger on hook sets and tend to swing as soon as I feel a bite, especially with a jig, and sometimes I just don't have time to get the line all the way tight.
  23. I like to fish a popper when it's fairly calm and fish are holding tighter to cover since it's a slower bait to fish. I don't ever fish them in open water situations, always around some kind of cover/target. I prefer poppers that I can walk like the River2Sea Bubble Walker 80 or Chug Bug. I'll typically do a pop-pop-pause retrieve. The length of the pause depends on the day but I usually start out with just a 2 or 3 second pause to see if they'll eat it moving a little faster first.
  24. But it has to be weighed on a certified scale, so there shouldn't be any accounting for a difference in the scales. Certified should be dead on the nose so Kurita's 22lb 5oz bass should be a full ounce heavier than Perry's 22lb 4oz bass ?‍♂️
  25. I like to just put chunky salsa and sour cream on mine, but my wife likes a fancier version I make with Chipotle salad dressing. It's pretty good too, but I like mine simple I guess.
