  1. Looks like a meanmouth to me. I caught one last time I was at Stockton also.
  2. Braid + cottonwood seeds + micro guides =
  3. Never take a knife to a gun fight.
  4. When I fish alone I can fish how and where I want to fish and I feel no pressure to put anyone else on fish. I don't have to worry about someone stepping on my boat seats or my rods, spilling dye or Coke on my carpet or grinding mud and weeds into it, it's just me trying to figure out the bite for the day. There's a few people I enjoy going fishing with, and I make exceptions for certain people, but for the most part anymore, I enjoy going by myself.
  5. Yes. I caught my PB swimbait fish from a small pond on public land next to a public reservoir. It's so tiny that I doubt many people even realize there's fish in it. I'm pretty sure the state killed it when they clear cut some trees around it. I think the water gets so hot now because it's so small and shallow with no shade at all anymore that the bass seem to all be gone.
  6. Nothing wrong with going bank fishing if you enjoy doing that too. I've got a bass boat, johnboat, and a kayak, but I still bank fish at times because I enjoy doing that too.
  7. Welcome!

    Welcome!
  9. A lake an hour and a half south ?
  10. The cutting point on the Trokar versus the conical point on the EC. The cutting point slices the baits up fast and cuts bigger holes in the fish's mouth making it easier for them to toss the bait. It also seems to roll or lose it's point faster.
  11. They're always extremely difficult to find with an internet search for some reason. They're these, only a standard Eagle Claw instead of a Trokar hook. I much prefer the EC to the Trokar. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Trokar_Neko_Weedless_Hook_6pk/descpage-TNWH.html
  12. Do you have any better pictures? Can't even tell the make of the reel from these. I doubt it's worth much though. Looks to be in pretty well worn/used condition. If you have the box it would add a bit of value if it's in good shape.
  13. Most UL rods don't have the backbone to set the hook with a bobber properly. The force needed to move the bobber through the water, plus remove the slack from the line, is greater than what an UL rod is capable of doing consistently, especially at a distance. A longer rod in a L/F or even ML/F is a better option.
  14. A very small one, probably a foot or so from the hook so you can cast without it going through the tip top. I wouldn't use a swivel/hook combo personally.
  15. They work pretty well but the claws tend to get tangled under the hook point on the cast or during the retrieve pretty often.
  16. Several brushpiles, some long points, obviously the standing trees, the creek channel, the deep edge of the grass. I spend more time further than a cast length off the bank at that lake than any other in the state.
  17. Some small groups do tournaments during the heat of the summer and beat the heck out of it, kill a lot of fish doing it too. None of them are legal tournaments but KDWPT doesn't do anything about them. There's a ton of fish in there though and all the cover and food keeps a good population despite that. I've had a lot of 20lb days and it's got a ton of 3+lb fish. I love fishing a Slammer down there because they'll eat it all day long. I caught my first "big" Slammer fish down there with a 4.5lb fish I got to watch stalk and then blast the bait. The dam usually isn't that great, you kind of have to fan cast the grass flats and find the concentrations of fish a lot of days.
  18. Welcome! Spinning is the way to go with lightweight baits in my opinion. A small barrel swivel will fix those line twist with the baits you mentioned.
  19. I like breaking out the big rods and lobbing out a half pound chunk of cutbait of 6" long live green sunfish for big catfish for some relaxing fishing. Relaxing until one shows up anyways.
  20. I'm stuck in the land of tiny bass. A really big bass in my book is any largemouth over 6 or smallmouth over 4. So it's hard seeing some of the monsters that others catch and brush off fish that would make my year to catch. Just have to keep it in context. WRB's PB fish beats our state record by over 7 pounds ?‍♂️ I'm hoping to one day catch a DD in my home state despite the extremely small odds, but it happens occasionally, so I'll keep trying.
  21. I caught 12 fish on a single Ocho a couple weeks ago and never lost the bait, no bands or anything, just hooked right through the middle. That's not the norm, but they seem to hold the bait well along with having a great hookup ratio.
  22. There's a lot of people that love that place. Gets a lot of pressure though.
