Victory vs Owner
They seem very similar to Mustad to me, but a little more refined.

Night fishing
Check with your state but in a lot of cases, those hours exclude actually using the boat ramp. It's just intended to prevent loitering at the boat ramps.

Victory vs Owner
I haven't compared those exact hooks, but I've used several Victory hooks for a couple years now and really like them. Very good quality hook.

Blade Baits
My best blades have been the cheap from the overseas sites. I usually buy several at a time since shipping times are usually pretty long. I've had good luck with them and they're usually around $1 each. Too many snags where I fish to spend the money they want for most of them.

20lb for football jigs?
I use 15/17 for football jigs. Not using them in heavy cover so even a 10lb fish is easy to handle on line that size. I landed my PB flathead (68lbs), on 15lb Tatsu, it'll handle a DD bass with ease.

Geary feeling reels that are relatively new
If you're not 100% confident in what you're doing, just send it to @Delaware Valley Tackle to have it professionally cleaned and tuned. Then if anything needs replaced, he'll be able to let you know and can do it for you.

That's a Mooneye. The dorsal is even or in front of the anal fin in a mooneye, it's behind with a goldeye.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
I had Friday off for Veteran's day and my buddy Tony had the day off also. He's never caught a blue cat and really wanted to, so I took him to my river spot. He'd never been in a pedal kayak and really enjoy just going down the creek and up the river, except for the getting in the cold water to drag them through the really shallow spots. I guess he didn't believe me that it was really that shallow getting out there. We caught a couple drum and channel cats and used one of the drum for cut bait. Didn't take long after I put it out to get bit by a little flathead. Got a couple more little channels on the bait rods before a long lull. I set a timer for 30 minutes and told Tony when it went off, we were moving spots if we hadn't had a bite. My timer went off and as I was walking towards it, a rod that had a chunk of skipjack took off. The fish didn't budge on the hookset. Tony hadn't ever felt a fish like that. It got in closer to the bank and worked upriver towards a big tree. I told him to try to keep it away, but if a fish like that wants to go somewhere, it's hard to stop. I heard the line squeaking, then it stopped moving. Tony said it was stuck, so I walked out to the edge of the drop and could see the flashes. I grabbed one of the kayaks and was about to jump in it when he shouted it was out. I ran back down the bank and and got a handful of a thick jaw and drug Tony's first ever blue onto the bank. Don't know what the length was, but the scale settled right at 45lbs. She was a mean old girl, chewed me up real good when I grabbed her. We barely sent that fish on her way before another rod with cut drum took off again and Tony landed another little flathead. He did finally let me catch a blue cat of my own. We tried moving spots across the river to the outside bend. No luck from the catfish, but Tony did catch the first goldeye he's ever caught on a lipless crank.

Suspending Lipless Crankbait
The 6th Sense runs about 2-4' deep depending on how fast you fish it. I usually fish it on 15lb mono and use kind of a pull-stop-pull-stop retrieve. Great alternative when they're seeing lots of standard traps or jerkbaits. They really seem to crush it when they bite. https://i.ibb.co/52J8TgG/20200208-071109.jpg

Do you find buzzbaits "fussy"? And what's your Love-Hate bait?
I have a Love/Hate with crankbaits. I love the size fish I tend to catch on them, I hate fishing them.

The Found Lures Thread
Went out for a few hours of fishing and lure hunting Saturday morning. Not as productive in either aspect as I'd hoped, but not terrible either. I didn't do a nice picture because I was in a hurry. I did take a video of most of the fishing and lure collecting, instead of just the fishing.

Creature Baits
Big Bite Baits watermelon red flake/black neon laminate or sapphire blue for a beaver bait. Baby brush hog in watermelon purple flake or red bug.

Heavier alternative to a Shad Rap?
I use the shad raps a lot, but opt to fish them on spinning gear instead of casting. The #5 is my go to on 8lb mono. The Flicker Shad Shallow is another favorite as well as the Duo Shad 63MR.

Muddy Water Advantage
I prefer muddy water in the right conditions. Cold, muddy water is rarely the right conditions in my experience. Now if the water is cold and there is warm, muddy water running into it from a fresh rain, game on. If the water is in the high 40's or above though, I'd rather be in dirty water than clear water. That was the game plan that played out for me in the strip pit tournament this summer. I fished all the clear pits and would catch fish, but not the ones I needed. Finally found a couple with dirty water, ended up in 3rd place and got big bass. It was night and day difference for me.

How often do you go into your tacklebox while fishing?
Ideally, not a lot. When I'm in the kayak I'll try to set out the bags of baits I need under my seat to rig fresh baits and maybe a couple changes of baits in the cup holder. Some days it looks like a tackle shop threw up in the bottom of my kayak though.

Swimbaits/Tips/Hooksets From a Yak
Don't know what kayak you have, but I don't have any problems throwing a swimbait out of mine.

Do you label your jig storage?
I have 3 jig boxes and they're all labeled. 1 says "Big Jigs", one says "Small Jigs", and the other is "Kayak Jig box". There's probably 300 jigs between the 3 boxes.

How many states have you fished and what is your opinion of them?
I don't even need a launch in my kayak, just public access. I got 14th in a 176 kayak tournament at Truman launching from a spot that was just a dirt bank where the dirt road ended, but it was public so it was fair game.

How many states have you fished and what is your opinion of them?
No, I've only fished from a boat. Big reservoirs don't scare me in the kayak though. I've fished big ones here like Truman from my kayak, just have to break it into an area you want to fish and try to break that area down as much as possible. My plan is to live close enough to the ocean that I can do that though. Ocean fishing is so much fun and the fish fight so much harder.

It's not at the top of my list but the wife is a fan. I think SC offers a lot of the Pros of Florida without a lot of the Cons.

Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas.

I have 13ish years left before I can retire. SC is high on our list of places to move to when that happens.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
I usually buy 4 or 5 at a time. I've probably given more away than I've ruined. I've found even when they get wet, just take the batteries out and let them dry out good and they'll start working again.

Get a cheap waterproof container and some cheap grippers to hang from this scale and you'll have the whole setup for less than the expensive scales and it's just as accurate. You can find them for 1/4 this price, just the first one I found. https://www.amazon.com/AlepTau-Portable-Multi-functionals-Back-lit-Display/dp/B07GF2DZW1/ref=asc_df_B07GF2DZW1/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241969147179&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13283311898807087985&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9023858&hvtargid=pla-524342386022&psc=1 I use gravity in my favor. I lay the bridge of the scale on the bottom of the kayak and the end up on the rails so the fish naturally slides down nose first into the bridge. A lot of times, they'll just lay there without me doing anything.
