  1. Females will guard fry, that's why you put the male in the livewell after you catch him so she'll have to take over the nest/fry guarding duties and become easier to catch. She'll usually patrol the edges of the nest and run off intruders at times also, although not as aggressively as the male. Now looking at that fish I would tend to agree that it looks like a male.
  2. So many variables to this question. I use a weightless wacky rig a lot, a 3/8oz bladed jig or spinnerbait a lot, a 1/4oz T rig, and a 1/4oz jerkbait the most I'd guess.
  3. My boys at the same age in the same swing, 3 years apart. They almost look like brothers?
  4. No, the 1/8oz size does barely anything at all in the water. Plastic is too stiff, head is too light, and tail is too small. The 3, 4, and 5 inch sizes are good baits. Get some Little Cleo spoons in 1/8, 1/6, or 1/4 ounce and you will be catching bass and trout along with whatever else eats minnows in the lake you're fishing.
  5. These were designed for the salt, but I'm super pumped to fish here.
  6. Before I knew what a Ned rig was, we used 3" Gulp minnows on light jigheads and caught everything that swims with them. Fished them just like we do Ned rigs now, except Gulp minnows are like $6 a pack and you could go through 4 or 5 a day on a good day instead of going through 3 or 4 TRD's on a bad day. Zman makes so many different styles and colors that I just don't see the point.
  7. I can zebras Razor Clams. Short of using wire leaders, they'll cut any line out there like a hot knife through butter. It's something I've learned to live with an a big part of why I don't use bottom contact baits, or crankbaits on some of the lakes I fish anymore. Shakyheads aren't even an option, I joke with people that it's easier to just take them out of the box and throw them straight into the lake instead of bothering with tying them on first. Yes, you really are just going to have to suck it up or start fishing off the bottom. Ned rig off the bottom, drop shot, swimming a grub or swimbait, wacky rig, those baits have become my way of life since those nasty little things showed up. Or just fish topwater all day
  8. 10lb Big Game, no reason to spend the money on fluoro for cranking IMO unless you're really trying to get a bait as deep as possible.
  9. I fish for them, it's pretty exciting.
  10. Really different action, especially if you're saying a weighted creature bait vs an unweighted Senko. If that were the case, I'd take the creature for fishing the bottom or heavy cover and the Senko for fishing vertical cover or suspended fish.

Guys I really do apologize about doing a horrible job getting everything back out to everyone. I tried to get everything rounded up this morning but due to my lack of organization, poor memory, and the site not wanting to open on my phone, I wasn't sure who sent what and didn't want anyone to get surprised when they opened a package containing the baits that they made. I'm on a computer at work now so I'm going to make a list of who made what, who gets what, and who lives where. If I have any questions, you'll have PM waiting for you, and I will do my best to have everything in the mail headed your way Friday morning.
  12. I like to fish them on swinging football heads and drag them.
  13. Lure selection for bass chasing regular schools of shad versus bass what I fish for bass stalking spawning shad is pretty different. Spawning shad are usually smaller groups of large shad that roam around the shorelines and cover while paying very little attention to personal safety. Large glide baits are killers at this time. Fish chasing schools of shad are suckers for underspins, ribbed swimbaits, spinnerbaits, traps, and spooks.
  14. Big bass candy bar, aka golden shiner.
  15. I've heard that it's been doing pretty well. Too far and too expensive for me to make the drive, but glad it's pulling a few people away from some of the lakes I like to fish
  16. Well this should go downhill fast.
  17. Here's a few pictures, just from the last few years.
  18. Big Keitech would look sweet on that thing.
  19. Ned rig and wacky rig would be the only 2 things I'd think you'd need. Pinch the barbs on both for everyone's safety.
  20. Nope, Kansas just stocks thousands of pounds of catfish in almost every fishable body of water across the state, it's a huge waste of money really. Then they put fish feeders on a lot of the lakes and pump tons more dollars into the lakes to feed them, basically making farm raised catfish for people to catch and eat. It's really dumb. http://ksoutdoors.com/Fishing/Fish-Stocking-Records/Channel-Catfish
  21. Been using it for a couple years now with no issues, plus it allows for longer cast, which is a big benefit when they come up schooling like they do at times on some of the lakes I fish. No snap cast, no monster hooksets, no problems.
  22. Sounds like maybe a display reel.
