  1. Jerkbaits, flatsides, spinnerbaits, and lipless. A-rigs were basically not allowed here until this year (only 2 hooks allowed). Sapphire blue is one of my favorite colors. It's especially deadly in the summer when the water gets a greenish tint to it. I make a sapphire blue bladed jig that is deadly on our bass.
  2. No grass in most of the lakes I fish them with. I like to grind them through rocks and across points. Not sure how many I have, over 50 for sure. I probably only have 10 that I regularly use though.
  3. There's a big pond behind my work that has some really nice bass and crappie in it. I use to fish it all the time but because some of our "clients", can see the pond out their windows, they started showing up to the pond and trashing the place, which got it closed down to fishing. The pond isn't owned by my employer, so not anything I can really do about it but wish I could still fish that pond.
  4. My few finds today. Had a 100% recovery rate on lipless cranks, which never happens, it's usually pretty rare I successfully recover one from a tree. I also got a basically brand new Stunna but it went straight into my kayak box.
  5. Not for me, hopefully a big blue cat is hungry for some colorful shad though.
  6. Kept catching these funny looking bass on my Ned rig today.
  7. Looked like a pretty small one but could have still done some damage if it had gotten a hold of him.
  8. The WalMart by my house sells buffalo for $4 a pound in the frozen seafood section. I wish I could find out how to sell them, I could make a killing during the winter months. They're very hard pullers and even jump occasionally when I hook them in the hotwater outlet.
  9. Looks like a cheap Thin Fin. I've had some good days with them but I haven't fished one in years.
  10. I've had some good luck with the ditch weed and merthiolate flash 6th Sense Provokes.
  11. I've used their straight shank flipping hooks for a few seasons with no issues. I've never seen H2O treble hooks but I've used their EWGs also and didn't have any problems.
  12. My boat doesn't have a glovebox but my truck has a cubby hole that I use for my boat keys. I don't think my keys would ever come out going down the road, but I'd be really mad at myself for leaving them in if they did.
  13. I'd have fished a Ned and jerkbait, like you said you did. The Ned would have been a 1/16oz head and color would have depended on the water clarity. In small water like that, I really like a small jerkbait like a 65 pointer to imitate the small baitfish the bass normally feed on. Was the water clear or dirty? I'm guessing it was more towards the clear side if there was slop growing already.
  14. They're etched in and painted white. I made the mistake of buying a board the same color as my kayak to match my kayak also, so it was even harder to see. Thankfully, the TD talked to me about how hard they are to see instead of just DQ'ing my fish like he could have. I put mine behind my seat and bungee it to my seat strap. It's easy to reach and out of the way there.

    Welcome!
  16. Went out this past Sunday with the plan to fish the power plant lake as long as the wind and boats would let me, then go to a smaller lake to get out of the wind. The wind didn't let me stay long and the fish weren't cooperating anyways, so around 9:30, I was already on the move. My buddy was already fishing the lake I'd planned to go to, and he said it was really slow, so I drove to a different lake I hadn't fished in a few years. Very small lake, no shad, mostly very small fish but I've caught a few big ones. Really just wanted to get a few fish and avoid the wind. Started on the dam and caught 10 or so pretty quick on a jerkbait and Ned, they were all copy and paste of this. For some reason, once I left the dam the bite stopped completely. Unfortunate considering the dam is pretty small. Once I got to the far end of the lake, the water got a little dirtier and a few degrees warmer. It's only a couple feet deep, but there's some laydowns and I had a jig I'd tied a couple weeks ago tied on, so I flipped some trees. Didn't expect anything but after a few flips I had a very distinct "tap". I finally got to slam the rod back into a decent fish and catch one on my new jig. Caught a couple more small ones on the jig from that shallow water. Made one more lap with a few different baits but only caught a few more small ones and one decent one on a Ned.
  17. I have both, and they are much lighter than the aluminum boards. The other downside to the aluminum, other than being more expensive, is they've more difficult to read in pictures. I still bring it as a backup to tournaments, but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known how difficult it would be for me to get good pictures on it.
  18. The yellow Ketch board is the cheapest and easiest to read in pictures and what every tournament circuit I fish requires.
  19. I have used one a bit. It's been good for me. Haven't had any issues with the hook or hookups. Not as durable as I'd hoped but I don't imagine the dark sleeper gill is super durable either.
  20. I really like the Daiwa Tatula LT, and they're on sale for $149 on TW right now. I should probably get a couple before they're "upgraded", to the new model with no AR switch ?
  21. It's good line but it color bleeds very badly. Even so, I've had some on my grass flipping rod for a couple years now and it's done what I've needed it to do.
