  1. High percentage areas are your best bet. Points, funnel areas, bends or points in weed edges, anywhere that has a good chance of holding a fish basically.
  2. They're supposed to be doing work on the dam at Cedar according to the city of Olathe. You won't be alower to put a boat on it much longer anyways.
  3. I never ordered it in the first place
  4. I'm trying the bait keeper mainly because I'm fishing Keitechs on them primarily. Those things are so soft I'm seeing if I can get another fish or two out of them. I wanted to go with the BB swivels, but Barlow's didn't have any in stock except for the really expensive ones, so I opted to try the crane swivels this time around. I was catching quite a few with water temps in the mid 70's last Thursday. Still have a lot to learn about fishing them, but they're a great fish catcher now that I understand them a little better. A few variables to deal with in an effort to get exactly what I want I still, but that's part of what is so nice about making your own stuff, fine tuning to get the exact tool you need.
  5. Worked with a guy who was a bouncer at a strip club. After some of the stories he told, I about need gloves to touch money.
  6. I'd get one M/L and one M. That will cover everything I'd want to do with a spinning rod.
  7. @WRB posted instructions on how to make your own a year or two ago. You might be able to search and find it. Uncle Josh made the "Meat Frog" trailers at one point that came in a package like plastic worms. I have some bags of them but haven't fished them yet. Pork catches pigs man. I hate that they don't make them anymore. Keep hoping some other company will jump into that spot.
  8. Don't be so sure about that. Lots of big bass are caught on muskie baits every year, and some small ones.
  9. Caught many a bass on a Wally Diver in that same color, never did catch and Wallys on it though.
  10. Zman makes an actual floating worm. I was fishing one on a straight shank flipping hook this spring and it floats them with ease.
  11. I rarely eat at buffets, because of the germ thing. I deal with enough disgusting things at work, I don't need it where I eat too. Something about buffets seem to attract people who seem very similar to a lot of my "clients". I watched some kids at a buffet once eating ice cream cones with sprinkles. They'd lick the sprinkles off their ice cream, then just dunk it back into the container of sprinkles, rinse and repeat.
  12. At first I thought it was a giant pickeral. Beautiful fish.
  13. Someone beat you to it and posted your video on the first page of this thread
  14. I think the LMB are starting to come back, kind of like Gardner has been doing the last couple years. The last 3 trips I've had out there produced several very solid keeper to near keeper sized largemouth. Would be an awesome lake if it can get back to kicking out 6 and 7 pounds largemouth and similar sized smallmouth on occasion. Last time I had a good day at Melvern with a spinnerbait was last year in the dirty water. I was fishing a War Eagle with double copper willowleaf blades and a white skirt. They ate it so good that I ruined a brand new bait in one day. I'll probably venture out there sometime in the next few weeks as long as we don't have any monsoons. The lack of pressure has to be doing a lot of good for those fish though, they were getting pounded so much the last few years.
  15. Wow, KJ, is there a worse, but somehow more hilarious, fish loss than the one he had in the final seconds of the first round of sudden death? Wonder how big of a sigh everyone lets out knowing they don't have KVD breathing down their necks the rest of the way?
  16. There's a billion carp in every puddle anywhere near me, don't need them in my pond too. Want fish that are easy to catch for my boys.

This has been a type of bait/technique that has completely befuddled me. Makes sense in my head, but could never put it to any use on the water. That all changed at a tournament at Table Rock in March this year. @gardnerjigman mopped the floor with me the first day from the back of the boat with an underspin and 3.8 Keitech Fat. The light came on and since then I've caught tons of fish on them. They're so expensive though, decided to start making my own instead of buying them. This was my first attempt. Found out the smaller wire keeper fits the mold without any modification at all.
  18. Watched the motor jump off the back of a river boat on a guided trip on the White River, AR once. The guy hit a rock when we shot the gap in some rapids. He had to be close to 80. By some miracle the fuel line stayed connected and I was able to haul the motor back into the boat. My buddy and I spent the last 3 hours of our trip pulling his boat against the current in our waders. At the ramp he actually still tried to tell us we owed him for the trip
  19. You can read most of the magazine on their website. I get it for some reason, haven't paid for it for a few years now. Very rarely do I ever crack the pages.
  20. I catch way more walleye on Keitechs than I do whenever I actually fish for them with crawler harnesses. I usually catch lots of bass on the crawlers
  21. Welcome! First fish is either a Warmouth or Green Sunfish. Kind of tough to tell from that picture and when they get that dark colored, which both do at times. Both overly aggressive most of the time and scrappy little fighters, great fish for kids.
  22. That lack of stability is the main reason I never even glanced at an ad for a V bottom john when I was on the search for one. It's better than nothing though.
  23. I fish bladed jigs a ton, but it doesn't take anything real specific to fish them. I've been using a Bantam Chronarch 100B and really like it for them. I fish mine slow, so a little slower reel is what I opt for.
  24. 6.2 for the Squarebills, 5.2 for the mid depth baits.
