I haven't ever ended one of mine like that, but I have no aspiration of becoming a professional Tuber. It's very cringy to me when videos end that way. If people like the content, they'll follow. I'm sure @A-Jay hasn't ever ended a video asking for subs and likes either either.

I've had those days, lipless, spinnerbaits, and bladed jigs just skating across the surface because a 50mph gust just caught my line and drug it.

That's about what it was last time I fished Tonka. Such a huge body of water with so many good looking areas.

I usually find them way up in trees with very light line tied on them. So I'm going with beginning fishermen that don't realize they cast like bullets. I've probably found a dozen this year and I don't think one of them had line heavier than 15lb mono tied to them, but it usually looks more like 6 or 8.

Was your investment into big Swimbait fishing worth it?
I enjoy fishing them, really gets the blood pumping when a fish hits a big bait. I haven't caught any monsters on them yet, but lots of nice quality fish. Oddly enough, despite having some pricy baits, my biggest fish have been on a Slammer and Shine Glide. Listen to the pain. $100 Donut Shad, gone. Cast into an off limits area at a nuclear power plant lake, couldn't even try to retrieve it. All part of the game though and a $100 bait isn't even that expensive anymore. The bone colored Shine Glide 185 has been one of my best baits.

Deep Diver for Kayaks
Flat sided baits don't pull as hard. How deep do you need to get? I use a Strike King KVD HC flat side a lot for my "deep diver", but most of our lakes are shallower than 10' for a majority of them.

It's always funny reading about different parts of the country how different the weather is. When guys are bemoaning fishing in 15mph winds while I'm looking at Sunday's forecast hoping that maybe the wind will only be 15mph when I start in the morning before it gets up to the forecasted 25-30mph ? Yeah, that's treading into the "promotional" waters. We have to keep it pretty black and white or, instead of just coming here and promoting their page themselves, people will just have their friends do it if we allowed that loophole. Not at all saying that's what you're doing so please don't take it that way, just explaining why we don't allow it. Now if they join and want to share their videos with no watermarks or promotional lingo (if you like this video smash that like button and subscribe!), they are welcome to do that.

- Fall Top Water Set Up ?
Buzzbait is my main topwater now due partially to all the leaves on the surface. 7' MH/F H2O Ethos rod, Okuma Hakai 7.3 reel, and 20lb mono just like I used all summer are the tools of choice.- The Found Lures Thread
Leaves are getting off the trees, so I'm starting to find quite a few more baits. This weekend I found; 90 choppo Cotton Cordell Wally Diver Unknown medium diving crank H2O bluegill squarebill Strike King 300 Strike King 1.5 Bass Pro lipless- Prayers requested
Cancer sucks, I understand your dad wanting to go more on his terms though. The treatment seems almost as bad as the cancer itself.- Spinnerbait: Why 3/4oz Dual Willow?
@A-Jay nailed one of my main reasons, burning baits for smallmouths. The other is to add big trailers for largemouth and still keep the bait down and balanced. That's the size I use at LOZ with a 4-5 inch paddletail in the fall to run along dock edges.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
I got out for a couple short trips Saturday and all day Sunday. Morning trip Saturday was kind of a dud. Lots of dinks, maybe 1 over 15". One looked like it had barely survived an encounter with an osprey or heron. Saturday evening I took the boys to a pond for a few hours with a tub of crawlers. Barely made a cast myself. Every time a bobber would touch down it was zipping away. Pond has some huge hybrid bluegills, but only my youngest found one of those. I did get a couple cast in right at the end and caught one of the big hybrids on a tiny Duo popper. Sunday I took the yak to a lake I use to fish all the time but haven't due to a huge increase in fishing pressure and recreational boating. The water was way down and I had to work to get to a few of my spots but it was worth it. Caught a skinny 17 incher right off the ramp before I even launched. Lots of small fish followed on jigs, bladed jigs, and a spinnerbait before a good one inhaled my spinnerbait. No more big ones in that area so I headed up lake and wasn't doing much. Probably went almost an hour between bites when I ran my spinnerbait down a log and it got clobbered again. This lake normally has a good flipping bite, but I went all day without a flipping bite until the last 10 minutes. I caught a 15 incher out of a tree, and then this one out of the next tree. Saw water temps all the way down to 60 already and with lows in the low 20's in the forecast this week, that's going to drop even more by next weekend. Fall fishing is here finally.- Merino Wool Base Layers
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Made a purchase and my bank freaked out thinking my account had been hacked ? Apparently me spending almost $200 on wool thermals was unusual activity.- Oversized jerkbaits
I have really good success with a 127 MR Slender Pointer, almost as big as the 128 pointer.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
I was actually having a pretty good morning of catching this morning. Just took the UL with a 1/16oz jighead and micro TRD. Had a half dozen crappie, 3 bass, and a bluegill, before this guy decided he had to fish the tiny cut I was in. I'm standing on the bank, it's about 20' to the other side (an easy cast with a 1/16oz jighead and micro TRD anyways). He went all the way to the back (another 20-30 feet maybe), banged his TM into the bottom, turned around and trolled past me again, never looked at me once. Pulled his TM and started his gas motor to make a short move right after he got back past me. Had a lot of things I wanted to say, but none of them would have fixed his condition.- Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
That looks good, but I'm talking about freshwater drum (Kansas Redfish). Relatives, but oddly, one is a popular table fish while the other is shunned.- Broncos
No dog in the fight, but I'm rooting for Geno. He seems like a good guy and he's stuck it out as a backup waiting for his chance this long. Obviously his teammates really seem to like him. He may never be a Super Bowl winning QB or even a playoff winning QB, but if he can be a solid bridge for Seattle, he'll probably earn himself some money in the process when they draft a new QB because someone will pay him if he keeps playing like he is.- eating Oatmeal.
I eat oatmeal every morning. Nothing fancy, about 2/3 cup of oats in milk warmed up in the microwave. Little bit of brown sugar sprinkled in and I'm good. On fishing trips, it's cold milk with brown sugar oatmeal packets. Gives me gas but that's the people in the back of my patrol cars problem.- Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
They make great cutbait for catfish or livebait if small enough. They're pretty popular table fare around here also. Larger ones are almost solely fish/crustacean eaters, just like their saltwater cousins, so I suppose they may be decent eating.- Brag about your state's bass fishing.
There's no bass in Kansas, please move along. - Fall Top Water Set Up ?
