  1. I stepped on a ground hornet nest when I was night fishing once and got lit up. Had no idea where I was running but I was getting there fast.
  2. Lots of things other people do annoy me. For my sanity, I've stopped trying to say anything to them because nobody can take constructive criticism or help from a stranger anymore.
  3. Caught tons of catfish on all kinds of baits from cranks to plastics to poppers to buzzbaits. Every one of them slimed my line.
  4. Got in a little Sunday night kayak tournament last night. 3 fish limit, only a few other guys fishing it on a notorious dink factory. I got the win and big bass with a whopping 16" big bass and 45.5" inches. It was a fun night, buzzbait and bladed jig was all they'd bite.
  5. Oh yeah, they're always catching all the fish they can to fill the freezer for a fish fry! I knew one guy who told me it didn't effect him, except he couldn't hear anything and he couldn't taste anything (pre Covid). You just can't help some people.
  6. How does someone deep hook a fish on a circle hook? ?‍♂️
  7. Lots of warnings on the waters around here. The Kansas River is one of the most polluted waters in the country and people still bring in big flatheads and blues and eat them. I point out the signs and always get the "I've been eating them for years and it hasn't killed me yet!". I usually just tell them that cancer typically takes more than a couple days to kill you ?‍♂️
  8. I love the Poc-it Phenom. I've got a couple 100 packs and several smaller packs in the boat.
  9. The Academy here sold off nearly all their baits and then brought them all back in the late winter/early spring last year. They hadn't carried the jerkbait for awhile and brought it back once they brought all the other baits back.
  10. I make both. IMO, direct connect starts faster and puts out a faster, sharper vibration. Split ring baits have a bigger thump and seem to catch larger fish, probably because the bigger thump feels like a larger baitfish.
  11. Man rocks are some of my favorite things to throw a bladed jig at. My biggest kayak bass was on a bladed jig off riprap.
  12. I call Saugers "gravel lizards", because of their looks and their affinity for gravel banks.
  13. A 1/4oz can usually be fished slower with less surface disruption, so kind of a more finesse presentation if they've been seeing a lot of noisier topwaters. The 3/8 and 1/2 are more the standards that are typically my starting points. I also use a 3/4oz quite a bit to help with casting in the wind or making longer cast to cover more water.
  14. I like spinnerbaits more than cranks, but the bladed jig is king ?
  15. Mostly boat and kayak. My biggest this year have been from my kayak.
  16. A lot during the limited conditons I like them in, but my crankbait rods will sit in the box for months at a time. Once the cold weather months hit, the crankbait rods will come out and the bladed jig rod will see much less action.
  17. That Gantarel is a nice find. Out of all the lures I've found, I've never found a big swimbait. You'll find lures in groups like that due to prevailing wind directions during the warmer months near popular fishing areas. If there is a point that sticks out into the lake that is a known popular fishing area due to a heavy amount of cover (snags), and the wind typically blows from the south in the summer months, the banks to the north of that area will tend to be productive lure finding areas.
  18. For me, it's always going to be a bladed jig if I'm targeting water shallower than about 7' and the water temp is 45* or higher. A crankbait may prove to be better that day, but I'm starting with the bladed jig because that's what I have confidence in. Once the water gets cold, or I need to work deeper, I'd go with a crank out of the two.
  19. It's the PTSD of past seasons. I'm the same way with the Chiefs. I don't know how to accept them being good, so I go into every game thinking they'll figure out a way to lose. I can't bring myself to watch the games most of the time because I'm just a big ball of nerves and I don't like it. The Bills look to me like the team to beat, but it seems like every year there is a team that comes out blazing hot that fizzles out down the stretch (the Cardinals last year). I'm thinking they're a complete enough team that won't be an issue though.
  20. Not the biggest, a tournament winner or anything like that, but this one really struck me as a very healthy looking fish when I caught it.
  21. Just saw a picture of a DD bass caught the past week or two from up that way.
  22. Didn't fish Saturday, worked OT 10pm Friday until 6am Saturday morning and then my oldest had his first football game of the year early afternoon. Sunday I went to a small, state lake with a young man from the local Junior Bassmasters and we caught a ton of fish but I kept losing the big bites. I did finally manage to boat one better one on a jig.
