  1. I don't use wool but the BPS White River fleece fingerless gloves are about $7 a pair and I've fished in them down to single digit temps and been fine. I carry a few pairs so if one pair gets really wet I can change to a dry pair. BPS sell neoprene gloves with finger tips that roll back but I prefer the fleece ones unless I'm netting bait for wipers.
  2. For anyone needing a baitcaster, Academy has the Mettle on sale for $40 this week. I'll probably have to go pick one up myself, and maybe a rod to go with it
  3. What a game!! Fitting that the last game would involve so many elements of their season. Good start by Volquez, aggressive base running by Hosmer, Cain, and Dyson, the bullpen locking it down, Colon coming of the bench and getting a huge hit and opening the floodgates for a 5 run inning, and finally Davis snuffing out that glimmer of hope in the bottom of the 12th. Congrats and thank you to the Kansas City Royals, it's been a great ride this season.
  4. Take it Mondotackle, Raymond has a guy that does it for a very reasonable price.
  5. I've always had the open invitation to any member that wants to come to Kansas to fish. If I'm available I'd be more than willing to take anyone out and show them how truly bad the fishing is here
  6. Guess I misread it the first time. Yes, big muskie spinners and buzzbaits will work for bass, and not just big ones.
  7. I've really been slacking on the reports lately I guess. I've been out and about a little bit. Most of you know about my near miss a couple weeks ago and then my redemption last Wednesday morning. I fished Lenexa from the yak for a few hours last Tuesday and did decent with a War Eagle Finesse spinnerbait in Mouse and a T rigged YUM Wooly Bug in GP. Tried Olathe a week or two ago and did not do well. Wipers were piled up in the jigging spoon spot, but no bites. No shad were in the creek yet. I caught a few largemouth that averaged bigger than normal on a golden shiner BHW towards the south end. I was only out there for a couple hours. North end seemed devoid of bass. Chris and I fished WC Friday. It was a bit disappointing again, but we kind of put the pieces together towards the end and made a day of it. I did manage to hook and lose the biggest smallmouth I've ever seen in WC, certainly in that 4+ range. Ned saved the day, and Purple Haze was far and away the best color with Junebug a distant 2nd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zms8p-OEcQ
  8. 3 down, 1 to go!!! Mets have a great team if they would stop beating themselves! I'm not complaining, but I'm not taking anything for granted either.
  9. I'll try to remember to post a couple pictures of the few different ways I rig mine.
  10. Lucky to get that sinker back, catching a fish is a nice bonus too! That D-bomb is the reason why we shouldn't throw our used plastics into the water. They swell like that in the fish's stomach and intestines too and kill them slowly.
  11. Were you fishing around heavy cover or was it windy? Those conditions make it more difficult for the fish to see the bait and get an accurate strike on it. If you're not around heavy cover you can try putting your trailer hook on so it's facing down or even run a treble on the back to help with hook ups.
  12. All but 2 of the muskie I've every caught have been while fishing for bass. The very first was slow rolling a 1oz Teminator spinnerbait through a stump field.
  13. I can't see it in the dark either but I can feel it and a palomar is super easy to tie even when I can't see the line.
  14. Welcome!
  15. Don't feel too bad, you get use to it. I had to come in at 8 tonight, plus daylight savings ends at 0200, so I'll get to work 13 hours tonight
  16. What knot do you tie? I can tie an open arm spinnerbait or buzzbait with a palomar knot in the dark way faster than I could find a closed eye with a snap.
  17. Only some of them hunt. The hard part about it is it was the "bad" ones that didn't run straight that are actually the good ones, so producing the "good" ones was purely accidental.
  18. A couple tube caught largemouth from a year or two ago. The first one was a little over 6 pounds. I also caught one of the biggest fish I've caught from a local lake on a tube. One thing I will add is I find the lighter weight I can use with a tube, the better when it comes to fishing them for largemouth. I usually start with a 1/4oz.
  19. Mined Wildlife Area in SE KS is like that. 1,500 acres of water spread out over 200 strip pits plus countless pits they don't count because they're too small, but still plenty big to hold a monster fish.
  20. Me every week for the last 6 years,
  21. I get to work an extra hour tonight!
  22. I've used the DB flipping FC a little bit. I have the 25lb size and have been really impressed with it's abrasion resistance as well as it's handling. I was afraid it would have a ton of memory in that size but it hasn't been an issue yet.
  23. Don't try to understand them or their way of thinking man. Every time I think I'm doing something right that will make my wife happy I just end up in trouble.
  24. They're similar and not even close. I use the Beat Shad for dummies when i can't have 5 baits, but they just don't catch fish like the Keitechs do. I know it hurts to use almost a whole pack on a single rig, but they work so much better. If you're wanting a cheaper alternative you might look at the Zman MinnowZ or Diesel MinnowZ or swimming flukes.
