  1. I've caught lots of walleyes dragging craw colored hula grubs. Craw colored cranks have caught me quite a few as well.
  2. It might be worth a shot for some $1 tungsten.
  3. I have 8 or 9 Ethos rods. All mine are the standard guides or micro guides and I have zero complaints about any of them. A buddy of mine has the 6' 8" Nano and loves it. The H20 lineup is solid all the way around as far as I'm concerned.
  4. I've had both. I'd go with the kayak. Much easier to pack around, don't have to worry about carrying a battery and trolling motor and you don't have to worry about charging/replacing a battery once in awhile. Your range isn't much different with either and fishability is about the same. Bad thing will be $200 is probably going to go further towards a used 2 man versus a used kayak.
  5. Deer learn to avoid danger. The more you hunt that same stand, the more they'll avoid that area, especially if the neighboring properties aren't getting hunted. If you can hunt other days or different times of days, maybe they've just learned to avoid it the times you're always there. Do you approach the stand from the same direction every time?
  6. I use sickle hooks on a lot of my jigheads, Eagle Claw Lil' Nasty hooks to be exact. They're like the name says, nasty. Sticky sharp, strong, and it seems like the fish have a harder time throwing them than round bends for some reason. Most of my tube fishing is in shallow water with a 1/8oz head and it does perfect for smallies.
  7. I went to making my own. It's crazy how much they ask for those things at the store.
  8. Sounds like the fish I encountered a couple weeks ago. Cold, windy, post cold front conditions. I felt like they should have moved deeper and been fairly inactive. After a couple hours of trying to force them to follow the rules with 1 dink and 1 good fish to show, I went shallow (2' or less), with a black and blue bladed jig and ended up with a 20 pound bag in about 2 hours. Another case of fish just not reading the book. Like in your case, they wouldn't touch a spinnerbait, trap, squarebill, or swimbait, but they jumped all over the bladed jig.
  9. Glenn just posted in the Mod forum that it was fixed. Now my email is blowing up with notifications again, not sure how I feel about that.
  10. I think Ryan (Cbass12) might have either a Carbonlite or Clarus or something like that.
  11. Sunchips, flavor doesn't really matter but Harvest Cheddar is great.
  12. Several Marts by me, none ever take more than about a dollar off any fishing gear. There's Trokars in the clearance isle that have been there for over a year now that are still $4.50 a pack, same with the Strike King tungsten.
  13. Yep, and it didn't even take 2 whole pages to get there. There's tons of reviews out there on reels, all are going to be subjective, and probably a little bias. Best option is to get somewhere you can compare reels side by side and decide which you actually like best. Bring the rod you want to put them on if possible. Now with that said, LOCKDOWN!!
  14. I used a Falcon spinnerbait box before I bought my boat. Now I use a Cook's Go-To tackle system for them and the empty Falcon box sits in my garage.
  15. Get online and pay for express shipping and they'll be here before the weekend no problem.
  16. I bought my 2007 Roughneck brand new, also had the Karavan trailer. Thing ate tires and also had to replace the axle. Zero problems with the boat, it was built like a tank, the trailer was awful though.
  17. 2 years ago I sold my boat to help pay down some bills and help get our finances in check. Last year I fished the whole year out of my brother in laws 15' johnboat with a 15hp motor. It was a little rough but I managed. The payoff was finding my current boat last winter for about half what it was worth. It's almost winter time anyways so at least you won't be out for the good time of year yet.
  18. Congrats on the find but the cop in me wants to know where the sellers got the rod and reel from.
  19. Barely any rivers or creeks around here with bass. I love going to the Ozarks and fishing for smallies in those rivers though. I'll take what I can get really.
  20. I think there's times it makes a difference. I try to be quiet but I know the pinging of my depthfinders and whirring of the trolling motor are way louder than I'd like to think.
  21. Frog fishing in water that cold?? Sounds like you could have adjusted your presentation to something a little slower and not on the surface and done some work.
  22. Turns out, bass can't read! The fish were probably up there feeding on baitfish. Did you fish a squarebill or other shallower running baitfish imitation on those same areas?
  23. Zman products are by far superior when it comes to the Ned. I like the 1/2 a Zinker, TRD, Hula Stick, shortened FattyZ, or Finesse WormZ. I use 1/16 95% of the time regardless of depth or wind. It's a no feel technique anyways. Both Only time I've found it doesn't work well is really dirty water. Other than that you can almost always catch some fish on them.
  24. If I get my choice it would be my mom's ham with apricot glaze. I prefer the turkey salad sandwiches from the leftover turkey over the actual turkey on Thanksgiving.
  25. I don't get them anymore either. Glenn just did some changes to the site last about the time they stopped so I'm sure that had something to do with it.
