  1. Got my request off for the Classic approved! Anyone else planning on going to the Classic? It was a blast last time and don't expect any different this time.
  2. Started with the uni to uni, never had a reason to change. I can tie it quickly and it's a simple knot that holds strong as long as it's tied correctly.
  3. Seems really expensive to me for what it is and with it always being windy around here, I can't imagine it would be any fun trying to control one in the wind.
  4. If I'm fishing braid on a baitcaster I'm fishing straight braid. Braid on a spinning reel almost always has a leader though.
  5. I prefer mono or copolymer when it's below freezing but I'll still use braid on my spinning reels.
  6. I really have a hard time going above the regular President anymore unless I need a higher speed reel. Spend $60 and have the extra to spend on line or baits.
  7. Like gulfcaptain said, you don't have to break the bank to get into swimbaits. Savage Gear is my favorite of the more affordable swimbaits. You can get several offerings from them for under $20 and in sizes that you don't need specialized gear to throw. Nothing wrong with a jig though. I'll take a jig over anything, any day. Topwater is fun, but nothing gets me going like that thump.
  8. You could buy one on your companies dime and you're having to try to convince yourself??? I'd already have it on the way to my house!
  9. I've caught some good fish deadsticking a jerkbait in very cold water. It's difficult to do unless I'm positive there's fish in the area. Deadsticking a topwater can be a killer. My biggest swimbait fish ever was caught deadsticking a Slammer about a month ago. I cast it out under an overhanging tree, let the ripples die off and gave it a little twitch and just sit there. After a solid minute had passed, I was just about to twitch it again when she plowed it.
  10. I really like the Seaguar Kanzen despite some having durability issues with it, I've had none. The Seaguar Smackdown is great too for a little more money but I don't feel the need to go above the Kanzen, which I also feels cast a little better.
  11. Those are monsters! I'm still trying for my first DD wiper. I've come close twice but still haven't managed to reach that mark.
  12. I replace all the hooks on my Lucky Craft anyways.
  13. I've never used yellow but I have used bright green, pink, and white. I used all of them on spinning gear with a leader for visibility reasons as well and they all worked. White was probably the easiest to see and stayed that way out of all of them.
  14. Probably something around the 3500 size boxes. It's not a very big bag.
  15. Have you guys seen on TW that Lucky Craft has a new squarebill out? Comes in a 1.5 and 2.5 size, all silent, in 6 colors. The part that shocked me was the price, $6.99! Maybe Lucky Craft is hurting with all these companies starting to offer bargain priced baits for the average Joe like us and starting to try to get on the bandwagon? Sure would love me some $7 Pointers
  16. I fish the Zoom Magnum Finesse worm on a shakyhead all the time.
  17. It's something I get to deal with far too often because of the stresses of my line of work. With the way things are today, with officer's being demonized, I'm sure it will just get that much worse.
  18. Ice, leader knots, and cotton seed can all present problems for micro guides.
  19. I really think you need to switch gears completely. Fishing slowly, picking cover apart isn't working right? So grab a crankbait, spinnerbait, or bladed jig and start covering water. This is the time of year when fish start to feed heavily on baitfish. There's times they won't even look at a bait on the bottom around here.
  20. 7/8oz War Eagle jigging spoons in nickel or white is all I need. Always look forward to getting onto them with the spoons when the water starts to get real cold.
  21. I started as a backseater when I was 16. Joined a club that pairs the anglers up and had a good time.
