  1. Well I decided to leave the weight on the pull pin and put the pin in the vice for the first try. Not the prettiest, but I'm going for functionality and I think it will be just fine in that department
  2. Still an LEO, will have been with my current department for 6 years in 2 days. With friends like these
  3. I use a 6' 2" M/XF and a 6' 8" M/F, both with 6.2 ratio reels.
  4. Man there are some days that this is exactly what it starts to feel like reading all the "What's the best?" threads.
  5. I've always been an avid multispecies angler. Everything from little sunfish and chubs in little creeks on a 1/80th ounce jighead, sight fishing drum with live craws, sight fishing gar with minnow baits, fishing a ned rig to a 8" swimbait for bass, or sitting on the river with a 8oz-3lb carp or drum waiting for a big flathead to wonder by. They all hold a special place with me.
  6. Nothing wrong with live bait, I do it myself sometimes especially during the winter for wipers, but it does take some of the sport/fun out of it for me when fishing for bass. If you're just out to catch whatever bites, it's a great route to take though.
  7. Just got some of the new Berkley Cutter and Skinny Cutter jerkbaits from my Black Friday order. Only have one day of use but if it's any indication, I'm going to be a big fan of the Skinny Cutter!
  8. My dad had one in the 30lb range ram into his leg while we were wading a creek spongebaiting for channels and it did take him right off his feet and left a big bruise on his shin.
  9. I use a 7' M/F St. Croix Premier and have for almost 10 years now, never had a reason to switch.
  10. Post #7 on this thread is probably one of my favorite screen shots of a fish I've ever seen http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/94661-fish-finder-should-you-actually-see-fish/
  11. Bass like to grab the tail of ribbontail worms, so foul hooks happen. Unless you're in a tournament where you have to hook them inside the mouth, I wouldn't get too concerned about it, just be happy you caught them.
  12. I like a bladed jig in the colder water. Get the right bait and I can crawl it along very slowly and they seem to attract bigger fish that spinnerbaits.
  13. Good deal man. kckaj I'm assuming? You can really get by without going too crazy on the bass gear around here. I only fish a few baits during the summer months and if you stick with Academy baits for your hard baits you can keep it pretty cheap and still be effective.
  14. After today I certainly wouldn't suggest La Cygne
  15. It was good, clarity and fishing.
  16. The Decoy baits were the first "real" swimbait that I bought. Caught a ton of fish with them and still have a few but I don't think the company is around anymore. I still have a few of them.
  17. Be careful with those jigging spoons and buffalo, I've heard it's a dangerous combination.
  18. Not really a "donation" if there's a monetary exchange or reward. There's rumor that you can do the same at the BPS or Cabela's in KC. I know you can't at Cabela's, BPS should be the same (very illegal to sell game in KS without a license). Cabela's tried to run a promotion to receive giftcards in exchange for live fish, or mounts of fish/game, it was promptly shut down by the state.
  19. 1/16oz is the size I use almost every time.
  20. I have that rod. It fishes smaller spinnerbaits and medium/large jerkbaits well.
  21. I just blew through $1,000 worth of swing impacts on A-rigs last week if this is true
  22. You can see almost the entire pond behind me that this bass came out of on a 7" Slammer.
  23. The unfortunate thing is by the time he gets out this guy will have no future ahead of him. So what's he going to do? Statistics show he'll be right back out there committing crimes until he ends up back in prison. If there's no doubt that a person murdered another person in cold blood the only options a jury should have is needle or chair.
