Garmin Echomap 53 Dv Or Echomap 73Sv
Does anyone have either one of these units? I'd really like to get something with down imaging at least but I'm thinking maybe it would be better to pop for the 74sv so when I buy a new boat (hopefully in the next few months) I can transfer it over onto that. http://www.basspro.com/Garmin-EchoMAP-73SV-HD-Fishfinder-and-Chartplotter-U-S-Lakes/product/1409081214/ http://www.basspro.com/Garmin-EchoMAP-53DV-HD-Fishfinder-and-Chartplotter-U-S-Lakes/product/1409081210/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I bid for my next rotation at the end of January, kind of waiting on that to make planning easier. Anyone wanting to do the weeknight deal again this year? It was fun last year but I know several guys were unable to do them for assorted reasons. May need to have a meeting at Johnny's again to discuss it.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I got out to Olathe the day after Christmas to play with a couple of my new toys. Only had a hour before dark, so I think I was probably fishing too fast. 3rd cast with a new Duo Realis 100 jerkbait and I got one about the 4th jerk. Got my hopes up for a minute, that was my last bite. I did find 5 crankbaits though to go with the 18 I found out there last time. Water was 40.7 degrees. Tried for the wipers for about 15 minutes. They were still there on the depthfinder, but still not biting. Only thing I got was this poor little crappie.

Code Blue!
Blue was a good night fishing color for me the past year, and bladed jigs were a good night fishing bait, put the two together... I think this with a sapphire blue pit boss on the back is going to catch a lot of night time bass for me this next summer

Dirty Water Worm Fishing
Junebug or black and blue beaver bait is one of my favorites in dirty water. One of the rare times I'll add a worm rattle to my bait.

Help Me. Deep Diving Crankbait
I agree with what others have said. If you don't have a setup for deep cranking, I'd get one if you're planning on doing it a lot. I hated deep cranks before I bought a rod and reel to handle them, like you said, I couldn't feel anything or tell what was a bite unless they really slammed it. Now that I have a deep cranking setup, it's amazing how much easier they are to fish and I can actually tell what's the bottom, what's a fish, when my bait is coming up and over something, even if the bottom is hard or soft.

Bladed Jig Trailer
I've had several guys contact me asking about what I mean when I talk about rigging my Rage Menace or Pit Boss vertically for a bladed jig trailer. I thought I'd save some time explaining it and just rig one up and take a couple pictures instead . I cut the bait down a little (to the first rib on a Pit Boss), and that should be about perfect.

Using Chatterbait>>>>>>>>>
Me either. I've tried without the skirt and it just isn't the same, I think the bulk is part of what attracts them.

Fish That "fin" You The Most
Sometimes it effects you and sometimes it doesn't. My grandpa had a small catfish get him in the meaty part of his palm between his index and thumb once. The barbs held so hard he had to use pliers to rip it back out. After about 30 minutes he was so sick we had to go home. I've had them poke and slice me with their fins and had it start burning really bad, but never got it bad enough to be really sick like that

Hot Side Lake Anna 12/27/14
Those power plant lakes are a lifesaver for me. Not sure how I ever made it through winter before I started fishing them.

Havoc Pit Boss
I'm not sure I've ever even looked what side is up when I'm rigging them.

First 2 Baits Out Of Your Panic Box?
I don't panic but when I need to catch a fish I'll either be fishing a shakyhead with a trick worm or dragging a jig.

Diawa And Shimano Are Teaming Up To Produce The Ultimate Reel In Technology And Performance
Yep, that's a pretty big difference. I wonder if other bike riders make fun of guys that ride Shimano bikes for being Shimano fanboys too?

Diawa And Shimano Are Teaming Up To Produce The Ultimate Reel In Technology And Performance
High price doesn't always equal high profit though. I believe you that it's completely possible that they make more money on bike parts, just hard to wrap my head around I guess because of the volume I know they sell in their fishing gear. Reels can get stupid expensive too, like this one for $58,000. http://www.worldsrichpeople.com/most-expensive-fishing-reel.html

Diawa And Shimano Are Teaming Up To Produce The Ultimate Reel In Technology And Performance
I know they make a lot of bike parts. I just can't imagine they make more off of those than they do fishing gear. Having worked in the fishing department at Cabela's in KC for 5 years, the amount of Shimano rods, reels, and accessories that we sold were insane. I don't know much about high end bikes but I guess it seems like there's only so much you could add to one? Not nearly as many bike riders in this part of the country as others I'm sure, too far in between places except in the bigger cities.
