  1. Wow that is awful. I've seen some terrible stuff working on farms, including a guy getting disemboweled by a longhorn bull, but getting chewed up by a combine The fact that he's alive at all is a miracle in it's own right, hopefully you'll hear some good news soon.
  2. Cold water is when the A rig shines. I like to use a 5 arm with my rigged baits on the two bottom and middle arm. I use Hitchhiker trailer keepers for my 2 dummy baits and I almost always fish one with blades on it.
  3. It took me about 13 years to make that amount of progress, well done.
  4. If there's room over the grass I'd be fishing a trap, squarebill, and a bladed jig over the tops of the weeds.
  5. Good looking fish! Our stockers don't get that kind of color in them, but they're coming out of lakes instead of a stream so that probably effects it.
  6. I don't DS much so I'm pretty happy with my 6' 10" ML/F LTB and Pfluegar Supreme XT
  7. Man I love Beaver Lake, but you're right it is a tough nut to crack. Last time I was there was a couple of the best days of fishing that I've had. We both caught our PB stripers, Jon caught his PB wiper and smallmouth, and I caught a pig largemouth that was 6 1/4 and another that was 5. I'm afraid to go back because I'm sure I have several trips worth of catching nothing after that trip. I hate Hillsdale! It was nice to me last year and I thought maybe it was coming around. This year, 5 trips for 3 bass and 2 crappie
  8. The blue cat was the hardest fight of the 3. The carp didn't have much room because the pond it was in is very small. The blue cat was in fast current in the river and really gave me everything I could handle for about 20 minutes and then continued to kick my butt when I tried to drag it over the side of my boat.
  9. I think they've gone to new ones now, but I watched a buddy lose 4 fish over 6 pounds in the same day due to bent hooks on a KVD 1.5 so I wouldn't chance it. I don't fish stock hooks on very many baits anyways though.
  10. I didn't have a scale big enough for any of them but it's one of these 3.
  11. I only use casting for spinnerbaits and I use a MH/F a majority of the time.
  12. I wouldn't use the stock hooks on a Strike King crankbait with mono, let alone braid. I've seen those hooks bend out and big fish swim away way too many times.
  13. I like black Friday because it keeps that many more people off the water if I get the chance to fish I've never been shopping on black Friday and if I have it my way, I never will.
  14. I always wanted to be a professional fisherman or a guide, but both of those are long shots. My more reasonable goals were firefighter or LEO, so I guess so.
  15. That's when it's time to break out my patented "Around the World" cast Usually after my bait whizzes by someones ear a time or two they get the message. I also like to move to the spot they just left and catch a fish, that'll really make some people mad. This spring I was catching trout one after the other in a small pocket on a little lake when I saw a father and two young boys walking along the bank. I yelled for them to set up their lawn chairs by me and directed them to the exact location they needed to cast their baits. Moved my boat to play blocker from some other guys that were coming to barge in on the kids fun. My catching pretty much stopped but I had way more fun watching his kids fighting trout as fast as they could get a line in the water than I was having catching them myself. I don't mind sharing a good spot sometimes, but it helps a lot when someone asks nicely before they elbow into my personal space.
  16. Every spring I go on a jerkbait buying binge. I'm a sucker for a pretty suspending jerkbait
  17. I had a 7.1 SX that I couldn't cast to save my live without backlashing. I think it was a Gen 1 or 2 though. It pitched decent but after doing that for a while the insert in the reel line guide popped out and I had to return it.
  18. Another situation you may not want micro guides is if you fish during the winter. I have to switch to a different flipping stick during the winter because the micro guides ice up too fast and make it even more impossible to fish.
  19. Who made fun of you guys for fishing for wipers? I've been targeting wipers in deep water during the winter since I was still in high school so I know it wasn't me Anyone who doesn't think catching wipers is fun needs their head examined.
  20. I know one guy uses them for snook and does really well with them.
  21. All I smell is stale biscuits and 56 guys that need to shower more often , but I'll be off work in 30 minutes and then I'll get to smell all those good smells
  22. Yep, clear water I would be fishing one, but I usually opt for straight fluoro in clear water. I have no doubt plenty of fish can still be caught with straight braid in clear water, but with slow moving presentations especially, the advantage goes to lines that are more difficult to see.
  23. Our only close local shop has a really good selection and extremely competitive prices, so I shop there as much as possible. I buy from Academy pretty often, mainly when I'm after crankbaits because theirs are so cheap and good quality baits. I buy as little as possible from Bass Pro and Cabela's, mainly because they're so expensive compared to everywhere else, paying for a lot of overhead in those stores.
  24. I use a full sized brush hog on a 4/0 EWG a majority of the time.
