  1. I use ST36 Owners #2.
  2. Havoc The Jerk, my personal favorite http://www.berkley-fishing.com/Havoc%E2%84%A2-The-Jerk/1311903,default,pd.html#start=14
  3. Hmmm, our smallies don't follow that rule at all!
  4. I usually stick to a jerk, jerk, pause cadence. How long the pause is and how sharp or soft the jerks are will depend on what the fish want.
  5. You guys are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, LOCKDOWN!
  6. Yep, been doing it for over 10 years now. The bait monkey is bad enough when you have to pick from stock colors. Once you get to create your own combinations it gets that much worse! It's fun to do though and after a lot of trial and error you end up with some real winners
  7. I have the St.Croix you're asking about, it's a sweet rod for finesse jigs but is a little light for anything over 1/2oz IMO.
  8. If there's room above the weeds to fish a spinnerbait I'd be fishing a bladed jig The strong vibration really draws them out of weeds.
  9. Put a tub of chicken livers in a nylon stocking and set it out in a rocky area along the shoreline with a line tied to the bank. Make sure it has a couple hours to soak and come back and check it after dark. If there's a good crawdad population the bag and surrounding area will be covered with them.
  10. I used to troll a lot when I fished out of a 2 man, mainly for crappie but I caught a lot of bass along the way. My first bass over 5 pounds was taken while trolling a Yo-Zuri crankbait in fact.
  11. Curt and I hit La Cygne again Thursday. Weather was much nicer, fishing was much worse. We both caught a wiper apiece and a couple white bass at the outlet and Curt caught a couple of these things. Crappie guys were catching them one after the other at the gates on the dam, lots of shorts going into the livewells and buckets. No luck on any bass or flathead spots, not even sure we had a bite. Stopped and tried the bridge for a second and I got in on the hot carp action. Fished the rock wall across from the outlet and I finally got to catch a few bass, I think I caught 5 or 6? Two biggest were healthy fish though. That's pictures of probably half the fish we caught all day, but I'd have gone back the next day if it were an option Water was cold, guessing they weren't generating much. 56 at the outlet, 55-48 at the rock wall, 41 at the dam. Hopefully they aren't going to do minimal generation again this year like they did last year. I had a minute on the way home so I swung by the outlet at Hillsdale hoping for a white bass or walleye on a jigging spoon, instead I got my catfish that had eluded me at La Cygne.
  12. Welcome to the forums! Bilby Ranch is on my "To Fish" list. Mozingo is always a blast but it's just far enough that I don't make it up there often enough. Do you ever fish Paho?
  13. No idea, but I think I'm going to buy a H2O frog and cut the legs off just so I can try it out. Guess I could just lay a finesse worm across the back of the one I already have and if it melts then I can just buy a new one to replace that one.
  14. I have both and prefer the Speed Spool.
  15. I told my wife I was going to watch the Chiefs lose before the game even started, they did not disappoint. At least that loss should squash any of the crazies from talking about how they're going to win the Super Bowl
  16. I've been using an Owner Twistlock XXX on mine, either a 3/0 or 5/0 depending on the size trailer I'm wanting to use. The nice thing is you can switch out hook sizes since there's a split ring on them.
  17. Finesse jig or shakyhead with a trick worm. If I can't get bit on either of those two there aren't any fish to be caught
  18. Shad rap #5 with suspend dots on the belly is an awesome little cold water bait. I've also jumped on the 6th Sense Crush 75 bandwagon, and I getting back off!
  19. I use them for my limited dropshotting and they work pretty well, not the sharpest hook though.
  20. I was unfortunate enough to be paired as a non boater with a good wart fisherman on Table Rock during a wart bite once. I pretty much could have just sat down and waited to net his next fish for him.
  21. I don't fish Bull or Beaver as much as I do Table Rock, mainly because my wife is usually with me and she prefers Table Rock over the other two. Last time I was on Beaver they were crushing a Scatter Rap though, and that was about the right time of year for a wart.
  22. Havoc Flat Dawgs, BPS Stick O's, and Zoom Trick worms.
  23. I fish my warts on a 7' MH/M St. Croix Pro Glass cranking rod with a E5 Curado and 8-10 pound copolymer. If you're not fishing a wart on Table Rock when they're on a wart bite, you're just donating.
  24. I grew up around Junction City, lots of good catfishing around that area. Milford is starting to produce fish that are getting close to state record size (blue cats) and is packed full of eating sized fish to mid range size fish in the 20-40 pound range. Pott. 2 is a great place for eater sized channels with some bigger ones (my dad caught a 17lb channel there long time ago). Tuttle Creek is a great catfish lake for channels and monster flatheads. Republican River can be really good, as can the Big and Little Blue rivers. Rocky Ford is good for channels and the occasional flathead. My dad and I used to catch lots of catfish by putting on old tennis shoes and shorts and wading those feeder creeks and smaller rivers with punch bait and sponges, good memories.
  25. I spent $150 on fishingskirts.com yesterday. 3 packs of weedguards, the rest was all skirt material. Been a busy fall with the local tackle store keeping me cranking out baits.
