  1. I have caught some very nice fish in the white areas marked. Throwing a spinner bait over the weed beds. I started fishing this lake in late august. Cant wait till spring.
  2. This is the response email that I received from WV DNR. Thank you for sharing your concern regarding bass fishing at Kee Lake. I appreciate your concern regarding potential over-harvest of largemouth bass in the lake. Over the last several years, our biologists have conducted largemouth bass tagging studies on lakes throughout the state including southern West Virginia. These studies revealed that reported harvest occurred at relatively low levels and did not adversely impact the bass fishery. Electrofishing studies on lakes also show that our small impoundments, such as Kee, provide some of the best bass fishing in the state, often outperforming larger reservoirs in terms of relative size of bass caught. We also must consider potential outcomes of no harvest regualtions if protected fish populations become too high and do not have adequate forage fish to eat. Relative size may decrease over time and the desired outcome of larger fish is not realized. Some harvest may be benficial in managing for larger fish. If the anglers you referred to in your email are taking over the legal limit, please report them to DNR Law Enforcement officers. You can report a violation at any time by calling 911 and they will contact our officers for your county. Thanks to all that responded on this forum, I'm glad to no that they are actually doing studies on the smaller lakes that I fish. After reading some of the response from long time posters and fishermen, I can see yours and there reasoning. I except that, and again thanks for all the response.
  3. Is anybody from WV Still Getting to fish? I think I'm done for the year. Water temps in the 40's.
  4. I think I'm done for the year, Last three trips water temps were around 48 to 49, Three skunks in a row. We have a cold front coming through, supposed to maybe get rain and snow mix, So water temps will be falling even more. :'( I can't seem to get bit no matter what I throw.

  7. Just wondering, If you had a choice of fishing a lake with selective harvest/watching stringers of bass being taken out, or A Lake where all the bass were Caught and Released, Which would you choose?
  8. What is Dead Sticking? I have heard people talking about Dead Sticking. Just never new what they were refering to.
  9. I used to live in florida and was a member of a hunting camp, it had three 4 to 6 acre lakes on it. I was the only one that fished these lakes, all the other members were hunters. I never once took a bass out of the lakes, it was not uncommon to catch 2 to 3 eight pounders in a day of fishing. I just think nature takes care of itself, humans mess things up. Leave them bass in the Lake dangit.
  10. Thanks everyone for the response. I see what your saying, Its probably better for the lake to have some smaller ones taken out every now and then. Still makes me cringe to watch it tho.
  11. I was thinking over the winter months to try and find out if it is possible to have a small lake that I fish to be designated as catch and release for large mouth bass. In the past I have noticed alot of people bank fishing taking buckets of large mouth out of the lake. This makes me cringe every time I go by and see buckets of smaller bass being taken out for food. There are alot of Crappie and Bluegill that could be caught for food consumption. Just wanted to get some input from you guys and gals, Am I wasting my time? Is it better for the lake to have some of the smaller bass to be taken out? The lake is only about 100 acres or so and is one of the few lakes we have around here to bass fish. I have caught and released several bass in the 6 to 7lb range and seen others that were bigger. I have already emailed state DNR and waiting a response. Any input would be helpful.
  12. I think its secret code for I used a walleye lure and caught a bass. Used a Bass lure and caught nothing. What should I use?
  13. BUt dont be a dick, don't do it. X2
  14. Do any of you guys remove the front hook off your crankbaits. I read it or thought about removing the front hook to see if it would come across the tops of weed beds without getting hung in the grass as easy. If anyone is doing it or tried it let me no what you think.
