What's the best fluke style bait?
I'm looking for alternatives to the Zoom split tail flukes. Are there any other similar soft plastics that perform better? I was thinking of something like the Basstrix soft jerk bait. I do most of my fishing for striped bass in the CA Aqueduct system. Depending on if the check gates are flowing and how strong the current is my lure choice varies. Most of the time I use the Zoom salty super fluke on anywhere from 1/2 oz to 1 1/2 oz jig heads when the water is flowing. I was interested in trying something that looks a bit more life like and has better action. After reading a few of the responses it sounds like the softer baits and hand pours might be what I'm looking for.

Veritas vs Vendetta rods
Has anyone used both that can give a comparison between the two? I've read a few reviews saying the Veritas is even less weight than the Vendetta and also more sensitive. In your opinion is there enough difference in sensitivity to make upgrading to the Veritas worth while?

Yo-Zuri Fluoro Question
I've heard good reports on the ultrasoft. I looked at the local BPS and they don't have it, I may get some from TW and try it out. I'll second that recomendation for the Yozuri Ultra Soft line. TW has it and you can also order it from both BPS online or Cabela's online.

New reel poll (REVO added), I'm getting a citica
Not seeing any love for the Abu Garcia Revo line of reels. Any particular reason why?

Line Testing Results
I use either P-line Floroclear or Yozuri Ultra Soft lines for most situations. I've been using the Yozuri on my spinning outfits for a few years now and earlier this year pulled a 22# channel catfish out of the Antelope Valley portion of the CA Aqueduct on the Yozuri Ultra soft 8# line. I'd have the Yozuri on all my reels but it's harder to find localy.

Night fishing crankbait colors?
I don't do quite as much night fishing as I used to, but I just use the same colors as I would durring the day. I tried using darker plastics with no noticable improvement in hookup ratio.

Line breaking!
Boy would some of the guys on my other fishing forum have fun with this subject. First off, most guys I know recommend retying after every fish, no matter the size. If you snag, hang up, farm a bite ... check your line. If you feel even the tiniest nick, retie. Check that site/video about tying a proper Palomar knot. If the line has crossover it will cut into itself and break almost every time. It sounds like you may be using too heavy of rod action for the line # test you're using. Also you shouldn't be setting the hook as hard when using braid. Some rod manufacturers are starting to make rods with a softer tip, so that you don't rip the hook out of the fishes mouth when setting the hook. I'll second the recommendation for Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. It's great line, almost no memory abrasion resistant and super strong.

Abu Garcia Veritas
I had that same problem with my 7'6" MH Vendeta rod. Fortunatly I bought mine from tackle warehouse, I called them up and they sent me a RMA and and a new rod once they recieved the broken one, and I didn't even have to pay for the shipping. The new one is great. I'm already thinking of adding a Veritas to my rod collection, which I'll buy from TW as well.

Pro Troll e-chip lures
Has anyone used these lures with the e-chip? I find it hard to believe that something that works as good as they claim would cost so little. Do they work or is it just another marketing gimmick?
