Fish On A Miscast ?
this year on my baitcaster i was throwing a senko, a 4 inch one so it was barely under the weight limit, i ended up backlashing. After i picked it up i felt dead weight on it, set the hook and caught a nice slab crappie about 12-13 inches. Surprised i hooked him right through the lip

i hope so. they ended up putting in some good structure, it may end up being a good bass lake. it looks like 20-25 feet by the dam and abouut an average of 10-12 feet every where else. have yo ever fished marshall lake? they put all the bigguns from north park in there, some over 5 lbs..

I Need A Strategy For Tough Lake
IMO easiest and by far the most effective plastic for a pressured lake may be the 4 or 5 inch black/purple fleck senko wacky rigged. I have a lake similar to what you are speaking of, pressured by week end anglers but not much other than that, yet most wont hit a big offset spinnerbait, when i downsize i will use some of my small mouth inlines, they seem to do the trick. I like Fire Fox and Mepps Black Fury with the skirt. Good Luck!

How did you get into small mouth fishing?
Sorry if this thread has been posted before. But how did you guys get hooked on small mouth fishing? i enjoy it alot more than largemouth fishing mainly cause im fishing big streams, and smallies fight like no other! my first ever experience catching one was last year on the first day of trout. I was tossing a little white roostertail and wham something bent my rod in half, i though i had a 20" + trout on my ultra light. i had never caught a smallies before so i show my dad and he told me, now i try and get out fishing for them as often as possible. whats your story? (1st pic is my first smallie ever the rest are just a few of the many ive caught out of there, i only wish this stream was as close as my bass ponds (also pics of my favorite stream, hooked some nice ones under that big boulder)

those wacky bass
i like to give them twitches untill they are about 2 feet from the surface, im only fishing around 6 ft though. then let it sink and repeat to boat
-
First Baitcaster Bass
yea, i dont mind small ultra light spinning outfits but when you get spinning outfits for bass they seem to be more uncomfortable to hold and cast compared to BC's

Hook up ratios

First Baitcaster Bass
nothing special, got it at dicks, field and stream verado 601 combo. i think i got it around 80$ bucks or so, it was that or the abu garcia combo. asked some guys who had experience w/ baitcasters and told me to get the field and stream, i was surprised and though its not to expensive i find it quite nice, but looking to upgrade later in the year if i find the money.

First Baitcaster Bass
haha i was suprised myself, after the first 2 thumps i pulled just a little to see if his weight was on but nothing, the next to i felt his wieght so i lowered my rod and set the hook, i was scared he was gonna be gut hooked but right in the corner of the mouth ;D

EARLY spring pond bass
the ponds i have hit dont seem to be hitting on cranks or jerkbaits, texas rigging brush hogs has been working, also wacky rigging senkos.
-
First Baitcaster Bass
I was fishing for around 3 hours today in a cold front, the water was probably around 40 degrees and i was first using a jerkbait but had no luck, i decided to slow down and fish a brush hog on a texas rig and i felt "thump..thump.......thump.thump....thump" waited a second and gave it a hard hookset and reeled this boy in, i was fishing a small lake and it feels pretty good when your 15 and out fished some old timers ;D

Reel settings for pitching with a baitcaster
is just started pitching too, i seemed to pic it up quickly. i set my breaks about in the middle with my tension knob fairly loose, i think its so cool how i can make my jig/plastic hit the water with no splash at all!

trout tournrment tips
white roostertails or panther martins and blue fox.
-
snaps and spinnerbaits
i think thats kind of odd that someone would use a spincaster...i think spinning reels are just as easy but i think more efficient.

Any goals or "resolutions" for this season?

What color YUM F2 Dinger should I buy?
i dont bring it all the way to the surface, i keep it atleast a foot below the surface but i let it go all they way to the bottom. either would work im sure, you would get a longer fall with your way which could entice more strikes!

what lures to use for striped bass? (clueless)
there are striped bass in this place i am going to fish tommorow. i have never fished for them. should i use the same lures i use for LM? i usually use worms, brushhogs, senkos, tubes, etc. i am kinda clueless. the lake goes down to thirty feet and as shallow as 6, which end should i fish first? thanks

Was this a (swimbait) bite?
I don't think there are many gar in virginia. Could be wrong though. there might not be, i didnt think there were any up here in PA but some guys illegally put them in muliple ponds/lakes, could be the same for you.
