  1. You clearly need to raise your standards for buddies...making you give him another lure to get yours back seems very "unbuddy" like to me. x2
  2. Roll cast are much easier and forgiving to do than trying to cast a lure overhand on a baitcaster if you ask me.90% of my cast are roll cast. You can get incredibility accurate this way as well. Turning the reel sideways on a cast(handle upward) I find to have yet backlash this way on a baitcaster. X2 on the roll cast. i can not overhand cast well at all, if any of you have videos on overhand casts that would be helpful
  3. i was catching bass right after ice out in PA but i dont know how much cooler the water would be there after ice out.
  4. you have to stay confident, i will admit it is tough when fishing new areas. You HAVE to know the fish are their or its hard to stay positive. It can be even more challenging trying a new technique and not getting bit, though it can be discouraging you have to stay positive or nothing will ever go right!
  5. Had the same problem mentioned above. I have had a better experience with this storm product though. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_83530_100018003_100000000_100018000?hvarAID=shopping_googlebase&om_mmc=shopping_googlebase those look great and you can't beat the price, ill be looking into getting some, thanks!
  6. ive had a pack of these for awhile now and havent used them much, with the heavy weight in them am i supposed to jig them along the bottom and mix it up with a slow retreive and let them sink. I hear pretty good reviews about them and they look like a pretty good little bait to me, anybody use them/how did you use them?
  7. those pheasant tail nympths dont look to bad, good for first ties! im starting fly fishing this year, i might actually go out next week since they just stocked this week. im looking forward to fly fishing for bluegills too
  8. 4" senkos wacky rigged
  9. i really hope you learned your lesson after that. you put your life and the lives of others in danger, and there is no excuse for pure stupidity. theres so many other dangers on the water to worry about than having to deal with people being idiots too. sorry, dont mean to sound like im calling names, but one would think that you would realize now that running through thick fog at 50mph was a pretty stupid thing to do. you might be a smart person overall, but your actions at the time are inexcusable in my eyes... X2
  10. 1. slick sticks 2. trick sticks 3. worm-O's 4. rippin' sticks
  11. ok well im going fishing this weekend and i havent done much of any cold water bass fishing. I caught one this past week with a wacky rigged senko. The water will probably be a little stained and water temps 38-45. The lake is only about 300 yards long and 100 yards wide. I will be shore fishing. The depth of the lake is not much, deepest about 6-8 feet. If you want to google map it for me and suggest what part of the lake you would fish first its called "Marshall Lake McCandless Township PA" If you google it it looks really shallow cause they had to lower it in the summer for the lower lake to drain, it is full now and has been for awhile. For my casting set up what do you think i should toss, i got jerkbaits, spinners, cranks, jigs. And for my spinnning set up do you think i should throw tubes, baby brush hogs, zoom trick worms, senkos, grubs? also how would u rig em', texas rig, carolina, or wacky? i know this is alot of info but if you could help it'd be great. thanks
  12. i dont have much input on what to buy but smallmouth fishing with an ultralight is a blast 8-)
  13. my first baitcaster was a field and stream verado 601 med 6"6' combo.(dicks sporting goods brand) I actually really liked it, its a got a nice rod and reel, very very light compared to my spinning setup. It was only 70 bucks i think and i think its a good deal, it was better than the abu garcia combo i saw there. good luck hope you find a good rod/reel
  14. nice fish! i never made it out today cause of how cold/the snow! its funny cause just yesterday i was thinking of tying on a shad rap! lol were in PA are you from?
  15. IMO they shouldnt do that to lakes for trout, who wants to fish a lake for trout anyway :-?? i couldn't imagine fishing anything other than streams for trout.
  16. none with the jig, i was surprised. i think im going again tomorrow, i might slow roll a spinner or throw a crank with my baitcaster and do maybe shakey head rig some trick worms. good luck
  17. well i woke up at about 7am. I watched fishing shows for about 2 hours and they were just taunting me telling me to go out and fish. Mean while its pouring and about 40 degrees. Two weeks ago i was out at my favorite lake and it was completely frozen over, i was hoping for better when i went out today. I started fishing around 1 pm. The water was really muddy and high, i was throwing a black/blue jig with a zoom super chunk trailer on my baitcaster, and black/purple fleck 4" senkos on my spinning gear. after fishing for about 2 hours i made a cast as far as i could into the lake, trying to cover some water with my senko. I started lifting the rod, then letting it sink. Next time i pulled up i felt dead weight on my rod, set the hook and caught this guy right here, about 14 inches, guessing around 1.5 lb . I was suprised i had caught one, my first winter bass. The colors sure are pale in the winter, but it was definatly worth going out for. ;D
  18. yeah me and my dad already have a camping trip w/ three days of fishing on it ;D
  19. ive only caught smallies out of it in Pgh, dont get me wrong smallies are fun but they are soooo small. I hate city fishing lol.
  20. hey thanks!! i usually go to slippery rock creek, average is like 1.5-2.5 pounds. still fun tho. i will definatly check out the lake. do you fish the monogahala?
  21. Oh man that would be really frustrating!!! OYa I was defanately thinking about downsizing my lures. but given you live in Missouri, your SM should be way bigger than here so might not have to downsize to much.
  22. pretty similar, here i downsize my lures a little. Inline spinners kill them, especially in a fire tiger color. i had a 4 pounder in a creek on one, he took a wild leap and snapped my line on the rock > senkos do good too, and tubes.
  23. got a blue fox vibrax minnow, ive had it for awhile but never got it wet much. i'll try it out
