  1. True. It is an EFI not DFI. It was runnin a little rough that day at low idle thinking back on it. One other thing also. I noticed a lot of dirt. It seems that some mud dobbers had gotten into the top cowl vent and it is blown all over the inside. Not good. The fuel had 1/2 tank of 3 week old gas and I topped it off that morning. I do use seafoam regularly in the tank but didn't on this last fill up. Got most of everything off of the powerhead except for the fuel system. Probably have that off and the unit off tomorrow. Anxious to figure out the problem.
  2. Good advice. I have been turning wrenches my whole life. Confident I can handle it. Initially by looking at the plugs I have one cylinder that is effected. My first guess is that an injector failed. I could be wrong though.
  3. I was wondering if anyone here has rebuilt one of these and if it was more cost effective to do so rather than buying one already rebuilt.
  4. Good to see you get out a little bit Jack. I tried to take some of your advice yesterday and ran north from the Army rec. Got to Cypress bend and motor RPM's dropped and it got loud. I shut it down quick but, I have a bad feeling the oil injection drive gear (plastic) broke and I have a burnt powerhead. Pullin it off this weekend to determine how much damage is done. Hope you have a good fishin weekend.
  5. Sorry to hear that. I have been there. Family is important and comes before everything else.
  6. Always can use a tip! Thanks. Grass edges in Toro haven't been as friendly to me lately as well as Housen. Wish i could be out there. On my way to NY for a wedding.
  7. I am easy. 6 is good for me. I will meet wherever.
  8. Some keepers you just can't let go.
  9. I wouldn't do it during a tournament but I mostly just fish to fish. a bunch of times I wished I would have had a camera and lately have ensured I have one at the ready. I have days so bad that a gator close up was my only keeper!!
  10. I will start off with an 8 footer on Toledo Bend Mill Creek area.
  11. Next season they will line up with flags attached to their hips. It is getting ridiculous. One of the goals of a defensive player is to seperate the player from the football. At that speed anything can happen even if you are trying not to hurt the other guy. I concur with whoever said the Meriweather hit was the only one that looked dirty.
  12. Guess I am a tightwad. I built an 82 GMC 1/2 ton. 454, RV cam, Quadrajet, 4 speed auto, 3:08 posi. Filled the receiver hitch with lead for added weight at the wheels on ramps. I pull a 20' triton w/a 200 Merc. about 13 to 15 MPG when towing the boat unless I decide to pass everyone else.
  13. I hope your trip was more productive than mine was. Definitely nothing to brag about. I am learning the different areas of the lake though so it was not all for nothing.
  14. What about man-made reservoirs? they don't have to put Crawfish in them. Just saying, not all places have craws. Most of our lakes are man made, and as far as I know, they ALL have craws in them.. Yeah, but a small man-made pond wont have craws in it unless someone puts them there Sure they will. I got em in my front yard. they make the most annoying dirt mounds.
  15. He is probably out catchin em all. I'll be out there Saturday, Sunday, and Monday lookin around in 6 mile, mill creek and toro. Launchin at the Army rec. White triton TR20.
  16. I don't know what it is. Maybe I am a rude magnet or something but, this was about the 4th time this has happened to me on the Bend. Usually my friend that fishes with me tells me to keep quiet because he knows me but, this time he wasn't with me. It seems even worse if some see you catch a fish. Never seen anything like it. I did have a good experience one time though. I remember one time I was fishing in Housen and catchin fish. There was a guy in the area fishing also who was watchin me. He was in a tournament and we got close enough to chat. After talkin a little bit I told him to bring his boat over here as i needed to head back across the lake anyway and take this spot. I was just catchin solid keepers nothin big and I was only out for the enjoyment and wanted to check out another spot. Some of you will probably call me crazy but, I had no problem with it. I figured it was more important to him than me and he was a pretty nice guy it seemed.
  17. I am just about crazy enough to try that. Hope it isn't too cold next time!!
  18. I can be confrontational after 25 years in the Army but, I don't want to be. It's a huge lake and it is extremely rare that I find a spot where I can catch fish. It was one of those spots on a spot where you have to cast in a certain place and this guy just hit my magic button. My first instinct was to throw a rattle trap at him but I really didn't want to get into it like that. he was so close I could have casted my C-rig into his boat. I did find out the guys name after asking around. It makes me want to do the same thing to him but, that would make me no better than him. I understand that it is easier to just ignore it and move on but, at some point I get tired of being cordial to morons.
  19. I fish Toledo Bend regularly and am starting to get frustrated with the anglers that are so rude they will troll right up to where I am fishing and casting my bait and troll right over it. Then they have the nads to ask me how it is going. I don't treat others this way. Anybody got some good suggestions? I was fishing the edge of a timberline next to a grass mat. There seemed to be one spot where I was getting bit and catching fish. This other boat came all the way up the timberline and it took about 30 minutes to troll to my spot. Just as he got directly over my bait I said,"hey, you are right where I am throwing my carolina rig." He started out with this speech on how long he has been fishing this lake blah blah blah. I interupted him and said ,"then you should know." He said "know what?" I replied,"How big the dam lake is!" To him, unless I was fishing in a tournament or I was anchored he could go anywhere he wanted. I explained to him that I wouldn't do it to him and I only expect to be treated as I treat others. I also told him we could probably increase our cath if we spread out a little bit!. I am getting frustrated with people like this. I have a hard enough time just finding and catching fish. I don't need rude anglers thinking they own every inch of the water. Just curious as to how others handle these kind of situations. Done venting, Tom
  20. I thought about deleting mine also but, instead I saved them to a memory card first and occasionally put the card into the unit for reference later. The best of both worlds. I deleted them but, can still put em in whenever I want to.
  21. Do you have a link to that study, I would like to take a look at it. I don't doubt you one bit, I agree that craws are the preferred bait, but all supporting information is nice to have and that would be a great technical paper to read if available. I don't have a link to the study however I remember reading it here on this site in one of the articles. I have been reading here for quite some time before I decided to join. Here it is: http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/understanding_bass_fishing.html I have found this site to be the most informative one and that is why I joined.
  22. A study was performed several years ago where one hundred crawfish and one hundred shad were in a tank of water with all species of bass (Smallmouth, Spotted, and Largemouth). To much surprise, the crawfish were eaten 8 to 2 over the shad.
  23. A bass will eat a craw over a shad if given a choice.
  24. First goal: Enjoy and appreciate my timer on the water regardless of how many fish I catch if any cause it is a lot better than any day I spent in the Army for 25 years! Done. 2nd goal: Catch a DD Largemouth 3rd Goal: Bring 5 fish to a weigh-in.
  25. Hey Catt. I know I am ready for a Toledo Bend fall fishing lesson. Anyone else?
