Crazy Rigs for Rage tails
Has anyone ever tried to do things like carolina rig the toad or the shad, or just do comething crazy like that with rage baits for a unique, but different presentation to the bass. Has anyone ever tried a rage toad as a swimming jig trailer or chatterbait trailer? I've been looking for some out of the ordinary ways to fish rage tail baits in the potomac river's many grass beds on pressured days

Humminbird® SmartCast® RF-35 Wrist Mount Fishfinder with RSS
Is this a good depth finder/fish finder to use from shore on lakes and ponds? I'm thinking about asking for one for my birthday

Finding underwater ditches/trenches
Ok, I got a response, Here is what he said: I don't know. You might ask one of the original homeowners to see if they remember what was there. The berms around the perimeter look like they were engineered to create the pond as a last-stage reservoir of the set running alongside the creek. The size may be bigger than the upstream narrow ponds because all of them are supposed to buffer runoff from tributaries or storm sewers.

Marker Buoys for Shallwater bass fishing
I was thinking of trying to use them to mark where shall water flats drop off into deeper water and mark where it slopes off into deeper or shallower water

Finding underwater ditches/trenches
Exactly! With some exceptions, you'll seldom find a steep drop off near a shore (dry land) which is gradual sloping. Likewise, a steep or vertical shore, (such as a cliff), is seldom shallow (or shallow sloping) immediately adjacent to the cliff. Areas where deep water "butts up against" shallow flats are key places to find bass. You may have to fish one side or the other (or right smack dab in the middle) but usually there are at least a few bass there-especially if there is secondary structure or a good solid weedline. But I digress. It's my observation that few developers of man made ponds get very creative when they dig out a pond. Most are bowl shaped with the deepest area being near the levee. Any deviation from the predictable slope is a good place to look. This pond is kind of bowl shaped................ it has a pinensula

Finding underwater ditches/trenches
I emailed the head of the home owners association and asked him what was at the site of the pond before it was built

Finding underwater ditches/trenches
Thanks for the suggestions,I will try every one of them. The pond was built in the 1970s as a Run off pond in the Neighborhood. The shallowest the pond gets is less than a foot deep on the flats I was talking about. The deepest part that I know of is by the spillway and is 6 feet deep, Im not quite sure how deep the middle of the pond is, All i know is that thereis a spot at the pond where its about a foot deep, than gradually gets deeper and deeper and then goes shallow again, SoI am wondering if there is a ditch there. The lay of the exposed land around thisd pond is fields and woods, there is a hill going all around the pond.

Finding underwater ditches/trenches
I fish a pond and there is a large, shallow flat that kind of slopes off into deeper water, Would I be able to find a underwater ditch there to fish?

Powells Creek on the potomac river

Marker Buoys for Shallwater bass fishing
I would be using it in a field of submerged bridge pilings in about 3 to 4 feet of water and would be throwing it out where I got bit, I think it would also help because there is current that drifts the boat up and down the pilings . During my last tournament I have been wondering if I threw a markey buoy to the submerged piling where I got bit if I would of caught another fish off that piling. I was also getting strikes in between the pilings and am thinking of using a Marker buoy in those situations also.

The pattern with in the pattern
My purpose of doing this was so that I could reference it, but also seeing the baitfish flickering on top of the water column clued me in that I was throwing the right bait and that the top of the water was the warmest part at the time I was out on the water because close to where I got bit, there were small baitfish flicking on top the water which would make sense for a bass to be close to them under the possibly waiting for one of the baitfish to struggle and for the bass to eat that one struggling baitfish, this would make sense to me because the one bite I did get was in the middle of the water column and the the baitfish were right on top of the bass. I think the reason for the baitfish being active was of the warmer water temperatures in the deeper part of the pond, I usually see the baitfish shallow, but the shallowest parts of the pond were iced over so the baitfish were stacking up close to the shore in the deeper water and the bass were there waiting for them. But I think the biggest reason of me getting this bite is that I was where the baitfish were active....... I also think the space monkey was a good lure to throw because bass like moving baits on cloudy days and the space monkey has several moving apendages

The pattern with in the pattern
Can anyone identify the pattern within the pattern described below: Fishing Log: 12/4/2010: Got one bite on a Black and blue Rage tail space monkey rigged on a drop shot rig with a 1/8 ounce drop shot weight and 17 pound monofilament with a 5/0 hook, The bait was soaked in Carolina Lunker sauce Threadfin shad Gel, The bass hit lightly in a few feet of water close to the bank, the water was pretty stained and there were baitfish flipping around by where I got bit. The air temp was 36 degrees with overcast blue skies. Retrieve: I was casting out into deeper water and bringing the lure in towards the bank when I got a strike. The fish interrupted the retrieval of the lure and all of the sudden there was weight on the end of my line, I was retrieving the lure slowly in about 1 foot of water Name of body of water: Olney Mill pond Time of day: Afternoon Cover being fished: None, but around dead grass Food Source: small Minnows/baitfish Season: Winter/late fall
