  1. For those of us who have been around for years, many of these guys are not strangers at all, whether we've met in person or not. It is a long list I would like to spend a day on the water with. Like A_Jay, I will not try to list them all.

    Same here Raul. Well said.
  3. I've had the same problem. Clearing the history will fix it, but that is a pain.
  4. I think once you fish with them a time or two, you will put them on your boat. I fish with a friend regularly that has the Talons like A_Jay. I guarantee you will catch fish using them that you just can't without. The ability to hold the boat in the wind or current is really amazing. This gives you the ability to work an area more thoroughly and carefully than you can any other way. Once you get used to them, you will wonder how you did without.

It also doesn't mean that they work as well as a Senko.
  6. Fishinfiend I don't think deleted posts are a result of someone complaining or not having fully formed genitals. Glenn has a clearly stated policy regarding what is acceptable and what isn't. It is the reason many of us enjoy this site.
  7. A_Jay I think you make a good point. I may have to update my blanket apology as well. I hope Glenn doesn't require another security deposit! I also hope ww2farmer is OK...
  8. I have learned the hard way that if I post often on this site, or most any other forum, it is just a matter of time before I post something that would be better off not said. We all mess up. What we do then shows what we're made of. Well done.
  9. Hey Redline! Just curious about the new boat. I hope it is exactly what you were looking for. Give us an update!
  10. If they have violated their stated policy or warranty, then you certainly have the right to talk about it IMO. If they haven't there is nothing to talk about. Telling me (them) that I (they) should do something because everyone else is doing it is not going to be a very effective way of persuading me (them) to do anything.
  11. What I have learned over the years, is you do all the stuff that needs doing, make your list and check it twice, and then relax and enjoy. When I have cut corners and let something go is when I have had trouble. Changing a trailer wheel bearing on the road is a pain! Besides, you cannot prepare for every possible, er, opportunity. When it comes to boats and vacations, as Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, "It's always something." Have a great trip!
  12. Way to go my friend! It is good to see the new boat to doing what it was designed to do. Thanks for the post. Most of my fishing lately has been of the vicarious variety.
  13. Good job. When you do the work and pay your dues, good things happen!
  14. basseditor I have caught both largemouth and smallies in our local power plant cooling lake in the hottest weather. It is always surprising to catch bass that are warm to touch! I haven't done it for a couple of years though. I don't like roasting in a hot tin boat! I must be getting old...
  15. A few of years ago in one of the hottest summers on record, a friend and I were pre-fishing a tournament a couple of days before it started. We tried everything with no real success. Finally, against my judgement, we went way up in the creek in shallow, muddy water. The surface temps were 90+. I told Dave this was the dumbest thing ever. We finally ended up blowing through mud to get into a slightly deeper spot. We killed them in there. Big fish in the thickest cover, in no more than 2' of water. We would have easily won the tourney if the water hadn't dropped over a foot by blast off. We could not get back in there. We didn't catch a keeper and only 2 small keepers (for 2 fishermen) won it. I learned a valuable lesson. I love fishing off shore structure, but I always try a few shallow water spots regardless of the weather. You just never know...
  16. Everyone knows that 65lb test PowerPro is too heavy for precision cutting. 15lb is more than adequate. Of course a good fluorocarbon may be a better choice...
  17. Very well done! Your attitude and enthusiasm is refreshing. You seem to have intelligence, plus great fishing and communication skills. That is a powerful combination. We will look forward to hearing more of your accomplishments in the future. Good luck.

This is the first I have heard this version. It has an intensely dark feel, and the imagery was disturbing. I liked it, but I will take the original.
  19. Proper fishing socks are a far more serious concern! I believe the only correct answer is ankle socks with shorts, well made crew socks with anything else. Boat shoes can be worn with no socks. You're welcome.
  20. Living in the St Louis area, I have had plenty of WCs. Never tried a Crystal. Back in the day, I was like VolFan and thought a big bag of WC burgers was a perfect end to a night of overindulgence. I quit drinking years ago, and realized that sober, White Castle burgers are disgusting! It wasn't long ago that I tried again to make sure that was still true; it is. I guess I would eat a bag rather than be stripped naked and publicly caned, but I would have to think about it...
  21. It took me fishing with a true shallow water specialist to learn this secret. As a deep water guy, I used to think I had to move deeper when the weather and water got hot. I still think that is a sound strategy, but I always try some heavy cover in shallow water as well. I have caught nice fish nowhere near deep water in the hottest weather. I would pitch a beaver into the thickest stuff, in the thinnest water. As the guy who taught me this technique told me, "Be careful, you might get your arm broke!"
  22. On a serious note, Red Label is a decent low budget choice in my opinion. Invisx is a little better, for a bit more money. Most agree that Tatsu is the best, but it is out of my budget.
  23. It is right there with the gold at the end of the rainbow. Look for the leprechaun...
  24. I think this sums it up well. It is knowing that what you are doing gives you a good chance of catching the size and/or numbers you are looking for. It takes time and patience, but real confidence only comes with knowledge and experience. What allows J Franco to concentrate on what he's doing exclusively in any situation? He's paid his dues by learning about bass; the what, why, where and when of their behavior, and spent countless of hours refining his skills. I have spent far too many days on the water manically trying everything in the box. I still get caught up in that occasionally, but not very often. Most of the time I have done my homework, and know what techniques and locations gives me the best chance of success. That confidence allows me to relax and focus on what I'm doing. Relaxed and focused is the real secret to success in my opinion.
  25. I don't understand this "spot poaching". If I am running and see a marker buoy in an area with no boats around, I may not fish it, but I might take a look to see what it is marking. If it is holding fish and there is no one else on the spot, how is it poaching for me to fish it? Now maybe if it is a multi-day tournament and I know that we are honoring spots, that would a different thing. Of course no tournament fisherman in his right mind would leave a buoy on an unattended spot.
