why would you want a fast tip vs an extra fast tip?
I have a 7' MXF baitcasting rod that is my favorite. It has a soft tip that loads quickly with plenty of backbone for bigger fish. It works great for a variety of baits. I use it most often with light Trigs and jigs.

UCONN Womens Team Loses
I am not really a fan, but a streak like that is a remarkable thing. Keeping the fire burning game after game is hard to do in any sport.

Interesting scientific info...
I've read the same thing. Nature is amazing. 8-)

Man VS Food has nothing on this consumer of mass quantities.
Coincidentally I had the exact same meal without the bread and potatoes. I am watching my carbs.

Interesting scientific info...
I have noticed a large number of migrating geese the last several days. I find it interesting that one column of birds in the "V" is almost always considerably longer than the other. After countless hours of research on the interwebz I have found the surprising answer... There are more geese in the longer column. ;D

Bass Pro Stick-O-Worm Size Comparison
I have an embarrassing number of 5 3/8 and 6 on hand. They are the same diameter. I'm not sure about the weight. The bigger one is huge. I have seen bass point and laugh when using one. It weighs about 4 ounces... ;D

just got my 2011 BPS master fishing catalog!!
With all due respect, your comment regarding over paying is an opinion I do not share. I do agree that most BPS reels can be purchased on sale occasionally and are a better value then. I respect your experience and expertise when it comes to reels, but the PQ baitcast reel is a good value even at retail based on my experience. I think it is fine to say that you feel something else is a better value and why, but painting all BPS reels with the same brush is not really very helpful IMO.

Do you always stay within the suggested lure weight range of a rod??
I think it depends on the rod. I have a 7' MHF rod rated at 3/8-1oz. It will easily handle 1 1/2 oz baits, but 1/4 not so much. I have a 7' MXF rated1/4-5/8 oz with a soft tip that loads quickly. With light line it will work fine with less than 1/4. I would not go over 5/8 with it though. Good luck.

Pline CXX
I used it in 12 and 15# this year on several baitcast rigs. I like it a lot, and will have it spooled on all my reels come spring.

The Steez Reels ARE worth EVERY penny.
LMAO!!! Awesome. You might not like it Speed, The combo weighs only 7 ounces, but the custom made flotation device attached to it while its out on loan weighs 4 pounds. ;D ;D Kind of like when you used to have to get the key to the bathroom at a gas station- the key, a hunk of chain, and a 15" chevy rim. ;D

BPS Master Catalog 2011?
I get the occasional coupon as well. It may have to do with dollars spent or frequency of purchases. Whatever it is, I qualify. I agree that for many items TW is a better source. I do buy many BPS store brand plastics, rods, and reels. I have one close enough that I don't have to depend on shipping. Their customer service has always been exceptional. I do like looking at all the perty pichers in the catalog. :

Left over holiday food thread
We have several pounds of baked chicken left over that we de-boned and put in gallon ziploc bags. We just finished some that I simmered in a covered skillet with barbecue sauce and a little water for about 30 minutes. I then removed the lid to cook off the water. Good stuff. 8-) BB a left over turkey or chicken sandwich with extra mayo, salt, and pepper is one of life's simple pleasures.

BPS Master Catalog 2011?
Grey Wolf I suspect he knows what bashing is. He certainly knows what a thoughtful and relevant comment is. This is not a characteristic shared by all...

Christmas decorations are already down!
I am of the opinion that as long as they are down by Easter it's all good.

BPS Master Catalog 2011?
I haven't received mine yet either. I have received dozens of fliers over the course of the year. I must be on the list... My wife says for all they spend on material and postage, they should send me something to fish with; it wouldn't cost any more, and it would be more effective. She might be right, but I do like having reading material in my "study."

Two Piece Rods vs. One Piece Rods
As has already been said , the newer 2 piece rods seem to be much better than they used to be. Two piece rods used to come apart far too easily. That no longer seems to be a problem. They have come a long way in materials and methods over the years. I have two 2 piece spinning rods that I use for pan fish. I can tell no difference in them and the 1 piece version. With that said all of my bass rods are 1 piece. :

15# Yo-Zuri Hybrid
While it is not my favorite, I have used 15# YZ for a variety of of baits on my heavier power rods. It is STRONG stuff. It will work fine for those baits. Good luck, and come on spring. 8-)

Redline that is a nice vehicle. I hope you can get current on your payments soon and get the guy with the truck to bring it back. Good luck.

Public school in Mass. issues permission slips for Pledge of Allegiance.
Very well said. While I think Fox News is more bad entertainment than news, to single it out is facetious at best; disingenuous would more closely describe my opinion. To compare the voluntary saying of the pledge of allegiance in school to the patriotic hysteria of Nazi Germany shows a lack of understanding of history and is offensive in my less than humble opinion.
