Just got my order in today, 11 days later. Fedex took a bit. The speed craws are huge. Didn’t realize they’re 5” lol. It seems the plastic is not salt impregnated. Advantage to that is the bait will most likely last longer. Might even be neutrally buoyant and float a little. Doesn’t have much scent. Smells like plastic, covered with unscented worm oil. Overall I’m pretty happy with the purchase. I’d say a steal at $1.50/pack. I think the craw will act just like yum money craws. And the beaver looks like it will act like a beaver. The toads are hard to tell, just never seen that design before. I believe pro angler Casey Scanlon owns the company, so it can’t be too bad. Just hard to test right now with hard water!

Rabid baits replace hair jig?
Not sure if they are a sponsor anymore but in your opinion, do you think something like the Fox Tail can have the same effect as a hair jig in cold water?

“Murray’s Triple drop-shot”
Saw a video that blew my mind. Never even had a thought of this and it has been under my nose this whole time! Use a treble hook on your drop shot with three flukes. Its like a mini A-rig that is legal in more states since it has only one hook. John Murray says he likes to work it fast, covering water with a heavier weight like 3/8 oz. He likes to use it during the spawn and when the standard drop shot doesn’t seem to be working to give them a different look. I’ll be trying it!

FireWire 10 pound test is junk or do I need to learn How to tie a new knot
Tie a leader to it using what you think is an easy knot. I like the blood knot. Then use your regular knot to lure. Then go fishing

Shaky Head X Texas Rig action
Depending on the shaky head...some make the worm stand up better, others are football or “rugby” shaped to make it come through rock better. Bullet weights do not excel under those conditions. Bullet weights are better for weeds.

Rigging a shaky head
It seems like the pros don’t use ewg anything unless they have to because the plastic is too bulky. Supposedly there is better hook up when the hook point is not inline with the eye of the hook. They like to bury the hook point in the plastic rather than skin hooking. I don’t have any problems using ewg hooks Texas rigged but only have reg shakey heads and have no problem using those.

Returning to bass fishing after ten years: what's changed?
Just noticing you’re close to Belgrade lakes. Those lakes are the bass capital of Maine! Love going to Whisperwood on Salmon lake. Also have a friend that lived on Messalonskee where I caught my 5 lb personal best. Both tremendous places. Alden camps is another sportsman’s camp I can recommend going to. It is on East pond. Caught a nice trout there as a bonus lol

Returning to bass fishing after ten years: what's changed?
Mousam lake is usually very busy in the summer and probably the most popular. The water has a little stain to it so the fish are more predictable. Square has pretty clear water and last year during the prespawn while night fishing, I smashed them with a black jitterbug. Fun night with a friend. Great East is bigger and super deep with crystal clear water. Ive had some luck there with a popper, senko, and drop shot. Wilson is a smaller lake with relatively dirty water and like to pitch a texas rig to stumps/weeds off points. Horn has pretty clear water and never had much luck there. Could never figure the place out. Doesn’t seem to have too many good fishing spots. Btw I love Penneseewasee (Norway) lake. Caught so many nice fish there. Looks to be about 45 mins away from you. I thought it was closer lol. Looks like a lakes region area northeast of your location, not too far. I would def hit up some of those places!

old Cabelas brand Fishermans Series™ Go-To Jerk Minnow
I know it’ll be a pain but maybe you can boil some water and dip the tails to bend them back. Sorry to have steered you the wrong way

You might just want to stick with Big Bite. Juice Baits Co. has some $4/6pk. Before shipping. Pretty sure you’re not willing to pay that price Check Barlows Tackle in their house brand. They may have something that is better priced than Juice. Can’t promise it isn’t covered in anise. Not sure if Big Bite makes the soft plastics and sells them or they buy from someone else and add their Big Bite Juice scent.

“VMC Tokyo Rig Finesse Neko Rig”
Are things getting out of hand here? How finesse is it when you have wire and in ***’s video Gerald Swindle has a good sized barrel weight on it? I mean I will undoubtly give it a try with my homemade Tokyo/jika rigs with ewg’s/light weight but c’mon! I wouldn’t call this finesse. Maybe a cross between power/finesse. Oh, Power finesse would be a better name. Gman was using a Zoom Beatdown worm.

Weird tire wear on boat trailer
Did the wheel bearings a few years ago on my ‘96 Ranger R72 boat trailer and got new tires. It has bearing buddies and I thought I did everything correctly. Fast forward 4 years or so without too many miles (prob less than 1000) I noticed some weird tire wear. The outside is down to barely any tread and the middle lugs are worn on the back side of each block. I did a search on tires wearing outside and tire pressures came up. I normally run 40-42 lbs in the tires. Others have said run 50 or you get outside wear like something fierce. These are cheap Hi-Run tires. Trailer seems to pull smoothly even at 80 mph. The place I got them mounted said they didn’t need to be balanced which I thought was weird. After talking to my buddy who is pretty mechanically inclined, he asked if I torqued the wheel bearings when I put them in and I did not. He wants me to tighten the castle nut to say 65 ft/lbs and back off. I only finger tightened the nut, that’s how I believe it was. Not sure it would do much since I lightly tapped the bearings in the race with the tool that barely fits inside the race. Also if I remember correctly, if the castle nut was tight, the wheel was having trouble moving. After packing the hub and bearings, I remembered to fill up the bearing buddies too. I always thought the trailer had a loud humming sound after new tires and repacking. According to google the boat weighs 1,100 lbs. motor is around 300. 17 gal gas tank times 6 lb/gal so about 100 lbs. So 1,500 plus gear. 1700? Load index 102, load range C, 6 ply. Speed index L 102=1874 C=1,820 per tire, 2 tires so 3640 lbs is what I think google says Tires are not directional. Another part of me says just run some different tires and have them balanced and see if I run into the same problems. I just don’t want to have my tire fall off while towing!

4” stick bait an alternative to 4” jerk bait?
Okay...thanks everyone. I’m just trying to talk myself out of spending another 20 spot when I don’t need to. I do have some 4” jerkbaits but not as many as I’d like. Have plenty of 5”. Usually throw 5” trick sticks, stik-o’s and dingers, so not really used to 4” stick baits. One time I lit them up on a 4” jerkbait shallow and would like to replicate that. Only fished 4” sticks a hand full of times and had luck. I feel it’s more specific for super clear, super shallow conditions compared to 5” ones since they sink pretty slow. Don’t remember trying to jerk them. Bought the 4” trick sticks for Ned, shaky (maybe), Neko, and as I said above finesse fishing. I’ll keep an eye on prices. Anything under $20 for the jerks I may bite.

4” stick bait an alternative to 4” jerk bait?
I just bought 2-100 packs big bite baits 4” trick sticks for a really good price. But I now see their 4” jerk bait for a decent price. My question is do the stick baits act similarly to the jerkbait when twitching them? ps keep an eye on amazon. Search “big bite baits 100” and go through all the color options for different prices. They change regularly
