  1. The knot you are using makes a difference also. You have to use Palomar knots with braid to avoid slip. At least that’s the easiest one I know lol
  2. Never even heard of that size. Thanks for the tip! Looking at eBay, it looks like you can get 25 or 50 pks for $10 or so. Excellent deal
  3. I often fish a 3-1/2 in. wave worm tiki-drop on a dropshot. Probably my favorite dropshot bait. Good luck finding them, I think they’re now discontinued. Got a bunch when they were like $1.50/bag
  4. Put on a clinic at the local pond one day using a Mann’s waker. It was sunny, not too windy and pond has stained water. There are usually a lot of dragonflies around so maybe they are accustomed to looking up. Or maybe they’ve never seen such a thing before!
  5. several totes like this with grocery bags inside organized by type: stick baits, flukes, craws, creatures, etc... For hard baits, a huge cardboard box with grocery bags inside organized by type: spinnerbaits, shallow cranks, mid cranks, deep cranks, jerkbaits, jigs, etc. Then a few smaller cardboard box for terminal tackle like weights, hooks, jig heads, misc., etc. I don’t have a problem with bent baits. But then again haven’t gotten to the bottom of the tote lol. Seems like I never will. The pile only gets bigger! I do rummage through occasionally and haven’t noticed anything too bad
  6. Thanks for the hot tip on the vengeance rods at Walmart. Found a med and med heavy casting for $15 each. Here’s my contribution to the tread: Baitmate $1 (garlic and salt) Baitmate dip $1.50 *mods, just trying to save people a buck. Sorry if against rules
  7. Only 10 per pack at size of 3.25” while 15 per pack of bomb shot that’s 4”... less plastic but costs more! Company’s are banking on the Ned rig! I just think it’s unusual for missle baits who are usually reasonable price wise, even though $4 still ain’t too bad
  8. Check it out! Haven’t seen these anywhere else yet. Got an email. I wonder if they actually float. Link to tacklesupplydepot
  9. I haven’t been a fan of the sick stick since you really have to throw it on a weighted Jighead and I am fishing stickbaits weightless Texas rigged 99% of the time. The PTL plastic does seem very durable if using their finesse worm has any indication. Just not elaztech durability. I got ya. I was wondering what to do with my 50 ct (I think) packs I got on closeout and this seems like a great idea
  10. I was thinking and since the sick stick by power team lures is “naturally buoyant”, wouldn’t it make a great bait for the neg rig? It’s also the same on both ends so one end isn’t blunter than the other like if you cut other stick worms in half
  11. Just wondering if it would be wise to put a ziplock back over the coupler of the trailer for winter, securing with a rubberband/zip tie. Will this cause more harm than good due to condensation? The guy that shrink wrapped covered the prop/motor but not front of the trailer. I fluid filmed the winch and coupler but want to try to keep in it working order better. Thanks
  12. Bass pro $1 shipping code: TRUEXWON today and tomorrow only
  13. What’s your hookset like with those mustad hooks? Sharp and quick or reel into them?
  14. Big bite baits super shad...$2 a pack on tw
  15. After reading this topic, I think I'm gonna keep all natural/biodegradable soap on the boat
  16. Just wondering if fish in the same chain of lakes act the same. I originally posted in this section, but I'll make this thread more broad opposed to location. Is it worth fishing another lake close by if nothing's biting or pack up and change area/region of the state?
  17. Next week I'll be going to a lodge for a few days on Salmon lake in Belgrade maine. I've been there before and it's usually hit or miss. As usual my father and I will be hitting a lake on the way back home. I'm wondering if the lake is not great fishing should I change region of lakes, which is what we usually do but there are several other lakes in the same chain that are not out of the way home. Do fish in the same chain of lakes act the same?
  18. Oops didn't realize there is a thread open to this
  19. Guys, I just heard they are taping MLF, major league fishing, in the Belgrade lakes area by Augusta, Maine. My friends father got to meet some pros and got to take a picture with Tommy Biffle and Denny Brauer! Pretty cool since I've fished some of those lakes! MLF on tv in January. Can't wait
  20. Thanks guys, I'm still waiting on the bill, the receptionist clearly told me it will come in the mail...this was before I found out the boat wasn't fixed though
  21. Also who's to say I needed the vro. He never gave me an explanation of why. The oil bulb was always rock solid even after the boat sitting for weeks, which may or May not mean something (I really don't know) lol
  22. I actually asked him if I could premix. He said he wasn't sure if there was just a gas pump out there. It was apparent he was too busy to search online. Also I think he is the owner or head mechanic of the place and is the one that worked on the boat. The receptionist always refers me to him and he says "I replaced such and such". He's a mercury/honda dealer but has always done good winterizing my johnson. I live by the ocean and this place is out a little way from the salt so I bring it there instead of the place on the ocean that is a certified evinrude/johnson. Lesson learned I suppose.
  23. So my boat was acting up. It would die and not start back up and leak gas. I brought it to a marine and told them was was going on. I got a call from him a week later saying my '96 johnson 90 needed a new VRO system and was going to cost $650 parts plus $200 labor to fix. I told him I would call him back after talking to my father for a second opinion. I called the marine back and told them to go ahead with the work and asked if he was sure that was the problem, to which the answer was yes. A couple weeks go by, I call the dude to get an update and said he installed the vro system but is waiting on an ignition switch which should be in today. I asked how much that is and he said $30 for the part, so I was not angry considering that is not much in comparison. Well Friday comes and I was able to go pick up the boat with the work completed. When I picked up the boat he said "I want you to run the boat this weekend and make sure everything's good". I got to run it and seemed great going to a couple spots and going back to the ramp it died and acted the same as it was before. I also noticed the same gas leak while fishing. I immediately called him up telling him it's acting the same. He said drop it by I'll take a look. I got a call from him the next day saying he doesn't see a leak, got it started, and it's a "sweet motor, come pick it up". I grabbed it while they were closed which he said was okay. My father-in-law heard about what was happening and said to bring it by his mechanic who is 2 hrs away. I drove it there, met the mechanic outside, told him what was happening. He took the cover off the motor and had the problem diagnosed within a minute: a leaking fuel filter. So now my question is: if I receive a bill for $1000 from the marine that changed the vro system, what should I do? He didn't fix the issue. He never told me why he thought I needed the vro. This is the guy I've been going to for 5 years getting the boat winterized. Apologies for the extremely long post but appreciate your feedback.
