  1. DITTO! And, my Daiwas(that I use much more than my Shimanos) with their external brake adjustment are very easy to accidentally move the dial when palming the reel.... Dan
  2. ! Very nice BASS young man!!! Dan
  3. I tried those artificial dragonflies and one wing broke off immediately and they are very light so they are difficult to cast any distance. If you want to have a shot at catching those Bass try this. Get a couple of packs of the Zoom Speed Worms with the Ultra Vibe tail. Rig one with the lightest(I use 1/8 oz) weight screw-in or pegged bullet weight and a 4/0 EWG hook. Here is the important part; rig it so that the hook goes through the seam(mold-mark) of the worm with the 'V' of the worm's tail pointing down, and with the worm perfectly straight. Now, throw it past the area you see them jumping in. Start reeling(6/1 reel helps here) just as the worm rig hits the water and don't stop reeling until a Bass stop's it for you You are throwing a very subtle but effective soft-plastic "buzzbait" but being "subtle", it doesn't spook the Bass as a buzzbait may. That inverted(turned down) Vibra Tail catches the water and makes a very natural sound as you buzz the worm rig back. Color is not important IMO but I've used their Junebug and their Blackberry color down here. You will put me in your Will.....but don't worry, I'm way older than you are ;D! 2 lber 4 lber Dan
  4. Here's another one from today. Funny thing about that one is I saw the Bass smashing minnows(?) against the shore while I'm about 30' away in my boat. I know I can't cast that bait that short of a distance so I pitched it  . She hit immediately but no hookup so I reel it back and pitch it once more and this time I hooked her up 8-) . Who says you should throw a Senko at a missed topwater bait Bass? =)))) Dan
  5. Haven't thrown one in a few years but when I did, I rigged mine with a 1/8 oz screw-in weight, a 4/0 GY Sugoi hook and used 100% fluro. Not sure how y'all are fishing them but I would throw it as far as I could and buzz it back, right on the top of the water, like I would a Zoom Speed Worm(very good, subtle buzzbait) or a regular buzzbait. Sometimes, I would 'kill' it and get bitten on the fall but most bites were severe topwater/buzzbait bites and they got hooked and stayed hooked. Dan

My long time favorite weight! Dan
  7. Some nice ones y'all! Dan
  8. Thanks for looking and the comments y'all . Here's one from a swamp pond. Dan
  9. Went down to the two farm ponds again today. Started out in the bigger one in my boat. I hoped to get a topwater strike using a unique bait and I did. Sunny, almost no clouds, high 70s, little wind and a 4 lber hit the Slide Jack at about 11 AM. Couple of dinks there too and then I went to the walk-around pond and caught a 3 lber off of the KVD spinnerbait. Worked back to the upper, shallow end at about 2 PM and a 5 lber hit a Chatterbait which was the first nice Bass on a CB in a while. Couple of more dinks and I headed home at about 3 PM. 4 lber Closeup of the bait 4 lber again 3 lber Again CB 5 lber CB 5 lber Dan
  10. 15 years and MANY more to come young man!!! Dan
  11. I always use a Crawford Knot. I wet the knot but I don't spit on it. Before I cinch it down slow and tight, I drop the bait and knot into the water that's all around me and then I tighten it. Dan
  12. I've been fishing with Seaguar's Carbon Pro fluro for about 10 years now. I always use a Crawford Knot. I wet the knot but I don't spit on it. Before I cinch it down slow and tight, I drop the bait and knot into the water that's all around me and then I tighten it. Dan
  13. My neighbor fish's tournaments and he swear's by the Booyah jigs. He's won a lot of money using them. I prefer the unique, Vertical JigXs but I am trying a new-to-me one known as the Whaddajig. Dan
  14. Man, what a gorgeous, BIG and HEAVY Bass!!! Time is on your side young man! Dan
  15. That's me pockets youngster!
  16. This rod will serve you well for swimbaits and much more. I caught my PB, a 9 lber on mine using Matt's Baby Bass. That leaves you with about $150 for a decent reel. Video and another place to buy one Dan
  17. Rand: If you're throwing Matt's Baby Bass(and you should be ), then most any 6-7' Heavy stick will suffice. The baits only weigh about 1.4 ozs. and don't need a 'special' rod or reel. Good Luck with them. Dan
  18. Nice Bass y'all and I'm a cigar smoker too but not when I fish . Set the hook on a Bass one time and the lit end of the cigar touched the line............ :. Dan
  19. You're a hard core fisherman bubbler! I had to go to a clinic to get a hook out of my thumb several months ago and, I almost fainted :-?. Dan
  20. Sunny, off-n-on windy, low 80s, and partly cloudy day and only two dinks from my boat at the bigger pond this AM. Headed for the walk-around pond at 12 PM. Fished from the dam for about 1/2 hour, using a big topwater bait, spinnerbait, hard jerk bait, and a T-rigged Robo worm with no bites. Moved up towards the middle of the pond and got the first bite, a 6 lber on the KVD spinnerbait. Caught two more keepers right there and a 2/15(no pics), all on the KVD s/b. At about 2:30PM, I'm on the other side near the deeper end when I feel a 'bump' on the SqadMinnow hard jerkbait. Got her to the shore and saw she was snag-hooked. When I reached down to lip her, the bait fell off, she torqued her body, and I lost my grip. Probably 4-5 lbs? Went home at 3 PM and please, don't raz me about the shorts. 6 lbs, 3 ozs--24" Gut shot KVD spinnerbait Bass Dan
  21. Outstanding Bass! Where was the blood coming from? Dan
  22. That first one's at least 6 lbs! Great catchin' young man. Dan
  23. Send us some of that rain Jason. We've been without rain for several weeks now. Went Bassin' yesterday and middle GA was covered with smoke from the SE GA fires. Dan
  24. Now that's some PREACHIN'!!!! Super results with a superb bait! Dan
  25. I like that! Wish I had a video taker....... How about it Russ? 8-) Dan
