  2. That's a GA DNR tag. That public lake is managed by the state and they track tagged Bass that are caught and reported. I reported its tag number and they can then determine its growth rate, etc. They manage it towards a goal of growing bigger Bass and it works. Several double-digit Bass have been caught there but not by your's truly :-[. Dan
  3. I'll bet Avid is in sympathy with that rod recovering story! ;D Dan
  4. Holy Moly!!! That's a great BASS Dirk! What a fine job of landing a brute of a Bass. 8-) Dan
  5. One more from today--same pond, same bait but at the upper end. Dan
  6. NEVER apologize for Bass pics :exclamation Great story and lovely Bass. Thanks for showing them. Dan
  7. Tough conditions to fish around for sure. I hate it when birds(but especially geese) are in and around a pond. Ya did good though youngun! Dan
  8. FB: Freakin' AWESOME DUDE!!! What a lovely sight that 11+ pounder must have been when you got her to your side! Any cuts on your hands from the braid? Dan
  9. OUTSTANDING!!! Gonna have to change your sig now! Dan
  10. When in my boat, I throw the CB as far as I can, count it down on a free-fall to what ever depth I think the Bass are at, rip it upward, pause, then repeat. Many times, the bite is on the free-fall. From the bank, I throw it out, let it fall just a foot or two and then retrieve it straight and slow. If I'm throwing it into shallow water(as I was with the 5 and the 6 lber) then I start retrieving it as soon as it hit's the water. Those two just grabbed it as they swept in from nearby . They aren't the "perfect" lure as there isn't one but they do work.....sometimes. Btw, forgot to say it was windy but not in the shallows Dan
  11. When wacky-rigged and moved across the top. the flapping ends may represent a frog....... :-?
  12. If you like those, try a pack or two of Zoom's Ultra Vibe Speed Worm on top. Rig it with a pegged or screw-in 1/8 oz bullet weight and a 4/0 EWG hook. You MUST rig it with the hook going through the worm's seams(mold marks) and with the 'V' in the tail rigged DOWN!!! Of course, the worm must be straight. Now, throw it as far as you can and as you do with a buzzbait, start reeling just before or just as it touches the water's surface and don't stop reeling! You now have a weedless, subtle, and relatively quiet buzzbait. The V catches the water as you reel it in and the tail slip/slaps the water with an enticing, natural sounding 'live animal' sound. Yes, you may get your rod snatched from your clutches 8-). Color is immaterial IMO but I use their Junebug and their Blackberry colors. I sometimes 'kill' the retrieve when no strikes have happened and a following Bass may pick it up then. Dan
  13. I remember seeing your fish you caught with the CB. There is no doubt you've had luck with the CB. ;D There is no doubt that it will catch fish. It's just how many casts does it take to catch one that I'm questioning. Again, ALL conditions matter, not the bait all by itself. The three I caught today were caught in less than an hour total and with just a few casts. The other(two swimbaits, hard jerkbait, spinnerbait, jig-n-pig, 8" GY Grub-T-rigged, and a wacky-rigged Swimming Senko) baits went biteless today.... Of course, today they were turned on by something about the CB and I d/k what that was but it worked today. Dan
  14. Been catching a few dinks the last 2 or 3 farm pond trips but nothing decent. Rained yesterday for the first time in weeks if not months; just a 1/2" but it was welcome. Before putting the Basshunter in, I threw a few times from the bank of the dam of the bigger pond. A 4 lber grabbed the CB right in front of me. 8 different baits later while motoring around in the boat netted me zero. Headed for the walk-around pond and as usual, started throwing from the dam. Saw some Bass activity in the shallow, western corner and standing back on the dam, hopefully out of sight of any fish, I threw the CB again. A 6 lber grabbed it in 1' of water. Had a dink hit it after that but no hookup. Went back to the center of the dam and threw several baits with no bites. Saw some more movement in that same corner and when I threw the CB again, a 5 lber sucked it in. Quit early after that as "biting" flies were getting too thick and too hungry. 4 lber/CB withthe back half of a Zoom Speed Worm trailer Same 4 lber 6 lber/CB with the last half of a Swimming Senko for a trailer Same 6 lber 5 lber--Same CB/Swimming Senko Same 5 lber Click on the pics to enlarge them. 15. Well........................ 2 lber 4 lber--public lake 3 lber 4 lber 6 lber 5 lber 6 lber Bluegill Some of those Bass were caught in a public lake and some in private ponds but the CB(and mine are the originals) works. I don't find them of poor quality and they come with a sharp hook. Dan
  16. Dammitboy but that's a fine woman! Hang on to her and Paula, you did such a fine job of hooking and landing a fish I've never had a chance at. Very envious! Dan
  17. Almost heaven on earth! Love my Bluegrass too and especially Ralph Stanley. Going to Grandfather's Mountain in NC later this month and our ears will be full of some beautiful music! Dan

  19. Here's the one I use. Hard to go against Gamakatsu! Dan
  20. Assuming they're going to be aggressively eating, I'd throw some sort of rat-l-trap, hard jerkbait, Matt's Baby Bass, cr/bait, and spinnerbait(especially if the wind picks up). For non-aggressive Bass, I'd throw a wacky-rigged, 5" Senko in color #222 . Dan
  21. WOW!!! Beautiful young Woman Craw! Paula, you could be in a commercial that was centered on "smiles" Super job of catchin' there y'all 8-). Dan
