I was saying that was my age im 25 and can probably count the fish iv killed on one hand maybe 2. Get your self some pliers also needle nose iv found to work best I like gerbers because they have a knife and wire cutters if i need to cut a hook. Gut hook is when i fish swallows your bait and u hook them in the guts its next to impossible to get it out there's videos on how to do it i have yet to master it but I don't see it that often. Throwing the hook is when you set the hook or some times didnt set the hook and your fighting the fish and you loose the fish they usually "threw" the hook shaked it out wrapped ya up or just open there mouth at times

well first welcome to the site. You might get some harsh responses but don't take it to heart its a good group of guys here and we'll get ya all the know how you need. As far as fish having feelings im sure they do but don't let that stop you from getting your hook out. Yes some times you will gut hook them but that's just part of the game the more you fish and the better you get you will detect the bites sooner limiting to how many you gut hook. if your fishing with lures gut hooking goes down anyways they will usually throw the hook before they decide to really eat it. Fishing for the fun of it hell no there's nothing wrong with it I think you will find that's why 99% of us here do it is for the sport of it and how its fun i doubt you will ever hear a fisherman say "d**n i hate fishing but some ones gotta do it" there's nothing wrong with fishing for sport its not like hunting for the sport of just to kill. The fish are still alive after your done id say 100% the time but there is the occasional one that will die. I'v caught thousands of fish in my life im only 25 I can count the fish that have died from a foul hook probably using just my fingers heck probably one hand. Keeping fish outta water you kinda gotta be the judge of I try to make it as quick as possible but 30 seconds a minute 2 minutes probably isn't gonna hurt the fish if your in doubt well still lipping it hold it in the water let it get some oxygen over its gills and start over or you can even do hook removal in the water get your hands wet. Don't be afraid to use some oomph to get a hook out watch some you tube video you would swear they just punched the thing in the head all they did was pop a big heavy gauge hook out. Don't give up though fishing is a blast

I use the skip gap hooks for 99% of my plastics. Do like DVT said just nose hook it I started this this past season and all I can say is OMG! action is incredible and I was seriously turning days where I was gonna get skunked to almost every cast a fish. I use the Jackall iShad jig heads for it I used there iShad soft "fluke" like bait had really good results till I ran out then i switched to the mini or baby super flukes i dont remember the exact name but the little ones nose hooked it and had even better results. id either twitch and reel with pauses or times id just pitch it into a hole and let it sink count to 10 and reel in the fish I can honestly say it worked 100% the time it was my go to last year. Then I saw bassresources double fluke video and all hell broke loose lol. Also try rigging it tex posed weightless on 12-16" leader/trailer tied to a swim jig or any jig for that mater.

spring turkey is a blast I don't go much actually its fun especially hearing that thunder chicken just on the other side of a clearing or right behind u if u set up wrong so much fun im not sure why I don't go more often oh that's right I cant put down my fishing poles this time of year lol. Im sure you will be hooked soon as you get a tom hard charging in looking to brawl or get it on with a decoy lol.

Funny this came up I just had a incident regarding this happen. I was at breakfast chow walking out getting my cover out of my pocket when I catch a Coast Guard officer about to catch the door right in his face so I grabbed it and held it open for him. Not a thank you nothing just a dirty look I guess you could call it, it wasn't even like I was the one that closed it on him the door was propped open and they opened the door at the end and it causes a wind tunnel effect and slams the doors or knocks the trays out of your hands. I see this officer all the time to idk know his rank it would be a Major in the army but I'm not familiar with the CG rank structure hes one of the ones whose always looking for a salute and will go out of his way to make sure to get close to you so you have to or he lectures you if you don't because you had something in your hands. Normally I don't have a problem giving the officers the respect they deserve except this one now next time ill just let the door smack him in his face lol.

I love catching both LM and SM I live where there's abundance of both smallies in my opinion fight 10x harder then any large mouth and if im going for a pure numbers day smallies seem to be like said before when you find 1 you usually hook several in the same spot

this used to happen to me all the time its so annoying now I usually muscle it to either end it early or make the hook pull out ending it early. Ill take small mouth any day over the carp I foul hook fishing for smallies in my local river.

depends what im doing some times its a "yup" "mmhmm" "yeah" others get "your welcome" or "no problem" I think its dependent whose saying it. I know there strangers but I tend to say your welcome to my elders but if its some one my age group or younger or just idk how to put it but some one who would probably give me the "yeah" reply I just say yeah to them. One thing iv noticed to about myself is im super polite to the locals here in kuwait idk why but I treat foreigners better even state side if i run into some one from another country im usually pretty polite to them my wife's pointed it out before idk why I do it.

well heres an update I still have not been out fishing yet my schedule's to crazy to get a set time most my time off i try to catch up on sleep were on a 4 day rotation midnight to noon, noon to midnight,day off, patrol day, midnight to noon and so forth it sucks. I did make it down by the pier today however doing road tests for LMTV trucks and I seen a school of some pretty good sized fish idk what but they were long and fat kinda busting on the surface and seagulls were in the mix to diving down in the school maybe 50ft off the end of the pier. so im trying to get out there tonight before dinner chow im just waiting on my chain of command to tell me where the harbor master shack is to check out to go. they have a lot of stick baits, spoons, cranks in the little shopping mall for the locals to sell stuff in so im thinking some stick baits and spoons for now till i can order some cuda tubes and get some sort of cut bait as well.

Dog food works also but heres how you get around the can and legal part cuz chumming is legal its that metal can that makes it illegal. Take your dog food or beans or what ever you wanna use and get a mesh net you see potatoes and fruit come in. Put it in the bag then tie the bag off good maybe add a rock to it for weight tie yourself like 20-50ft of parachute cord or rope to it and toss it out there. Give it a tug here and there to kinda puff some scent out and when finished bring it back in and refill for your next trip.

A few crappie caught last summer while working some submerged trees for bass the one hit a 3/4oz jig the other hit a T1 spinner. The pike isn't that big but i caught it in a stream that's about 5 foot across and 2 foot deep on a double fluke rig. and then one of my sons blue gills not his first or biggest just the only pic I have on the computer. I wish I had some of all the salmon and trout I caught back when i was a kid with my UL running down stream on the tail of running salmon trying not to break off. man i used to tick off a lot of the hardcore guys with all there big heavy tackle for the salmon run nothing gets more hardcore then a year old having to run down stream in hip waders to not get spooled by a ticked salmon or trout with a 5ft shakespear UL combo from walmart

Its not hard especially if your mailing it yourself iv been waiting for my wife to send him my reels(citica and revo sx) for weeks she keeps forgetting when she mails me packages to take the reels to send out as well. I don't have a revo s but i do have a citica so i cant compare the two side by side but u cant go wrong with either reel from what iv always heard i went with the citica because I got a killer deal on it(46.97 BNIB from dicks)
