Checking Battery Electrolyte Level
I check my trolling batteries about every 45-60 days. I use an auto charger and most times plug it in in the evening when I get home and then unplug it the next morning. Occasionally I have left it plugged in for a couple days in a row but I don't usually do that. My cranking battery is also a maintenance free. I usually don't do anything with it unless I am fishing an electric only lake. In that case I put on a trickle charger when I get home and leave it on until I go out again.

New Website...
At the risk of getting some justified or unjustified bad press I will say, I don't understand what the + or - buttons intend to accomplish. I'm new here and it took me a while to figure out what I needed to do to get back on. I got it done and I don't usually have any need to have lots of features but I certainly don't understand this feature. Does anyone have the ability to really explain what is actually being accomplished by these buttons ? Maybe there is a search function I could do that will explain it for me.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Wow ! Those are great pics. Nice fish. I've been so busy and couldn't get back on after the site upgrade. Finally figured out what the issue was. LOL . I was over to Perry Wednesday and picked up a limit of specs from the bank. Thursday I went back and picked up my boat and couldn't get any numbers on account of the wind and the front coming in but did manage a little fodder for the pond. Sounds like you guys are talking bout a get together ? If it is open for all I'd be interested in meeting some of the guys on here also.

So what to do now??
I'm not from your area but based on your previous action with crankbaits I think I would continue with that in a slightly different approach. I would give a try to a crankbait I could fish a little deeper and a little slower. In other words throw a medium to deep running jerkbait and slow it down . They might just come up and inhale it. Won't take long to find out. If the water is still cold and the weather is still regressed I'd be draggin a football jig on some cover or structure a little deeper than they were the other day.

Going to Table Rock
Pondboss, Late April is a great time to go. The fishing is beginning to explode right now. Should be plenty of action then also. The number 1 guy I would recommend is Bill Babler. I would be surprised if he has any openings. I would contact him and if he can't take you he will have some good referral options for you. He is probably one of the best to guide on that lake. Go to Ozark Anglers.com and read the Table Rock forum in the meantime. You will get plenty of info. there. You can also post this same question in the forum under fishing locations in the central forum choice. Look up Lilley's Landing and Phil Lilly can help you also.

Just relocated back to "Home" - Lawrence, KS
+ 2 on Lone Star ! Not too many toads but a fun little lake. Our club has a tourney on Clinton and Lone Star this year. Looking forward to Lone Star but not so much so for Clinton.

Bed Fishing
I think most fishermen who fish beds usually are able to see them. Generally speaking the further away you can be and still effectively fish the bed the better your chances are. If the water is too stained to see the beds then you just have to do a little research and locate the classic areas and fish em when the temps are in the right range.

Fishing a Grassy Pond
I'm thinking you could do ok with a floating braid and fluoro leader if need be. Tie on a t-rigged weightless senko.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
I hear ya Bluebasser about this weather. I've only been to Gardner twice but both time it was real good to me. I've been to a picnic at Kill creek but never fished it before. I can't get it out of my mind. It looks awesome. My boat is in for some service. I'm having fits with my website and that is taking all my time lately. Today I'm headed to KC to visit some friends and make a stop by BPS. There is only one item on the list and the baitmonkey better behave or I'll... I'll........... well I'll do the best I can. ;D

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Hey shaun, Welcome to this forum. I'm fairly new to this forum also. I'm originally from Wichita myself. I have been living up here north of Topeka since 2002. I can't help ya much on Joco lakes but are you living up there or in Wichita? I don't have my boat either for a few days and it's driving me nuts. Stick around. Lots of good info here. Bluebasser, it's OK if you have to take a day off and give those fishies a break.

Ha ! Finding some good stuff laying around :-)
Yesterday I took the glittersled in for some TLC at the shop. I always empty the boat when I do that. It has been a while since it was in there last and the stuff that came out of the depths of those cabinets was an eyeful. It ain't all goin back I'll tell ya that for sure. Probably gonna remove about 20 lbs of plastic and 3 plano crankbait boxes. I may have to donate the plastic. I'm considering buying an airbrush to punish the cranks . We'll see.

UV Light
Glenn, you are right. I am new here and was afraid to come out and directly say something to that effect. I have no intent to be deceptive. My understanding of the rule in effect here is that it is a violation to try to market or peddle a product. I have no qualms with folks knowing I am a rep for Tightlines. I would rather not openly proclaim that and jeopardize my membership here than I would sell a few baits here. I don't make the rules. I just try to accept them. Thanks for clearing this up. Steve

I agree that you can't see UV wavelengths because they are not within the visible spectrum. But are they within the visible spectrum for bass vision ?

Fishing in the wind?
The wind is tough. I look for places to throw a spinnerbait. I also would beef up a little with a football on some staging locations and drag it around a bit with my rod tip pointed down.

UV Light
Methinks so too.

UV Light
If this is true then why is it that on dark overcast day one can still get a sunburn ? What wavelength is penetrating to cause this ?

Megabass Ito Vision 110
I got a couple with broke bills or lips. Does anyone think Megabass will replace them ?

A few interesting observations about bass feeding habits / lure selection
I believe the big bass will eat all sizes of prey. I also believe that different sizes pass through different mental filters before it gets the go ahead to be eaten by a big bass. What Big baits= Big bass means to me is that this theory is highlighting that most small bass won't factor in, thereby leaving only big bass. There is an interesting dichotomy though. Many times I've heard a fisherman make a comment that he had to move his bait pretty fast so the fish didn't really get too good of a look at it. This comment goes contrary to jerkbait fishing where the fish actually do get a good look at the bait before eating it. I think in simplistic terms the explanation is that those who fish with top quality jerkbaits catch more than those who don't in general because the finish/action quality does a better job at passing the vision test of the bass.

we always seem to get one in the cove by the dam on the deep side. We didn't get one this time though. The fish are definitely healthy there. I've been too busy to fish and it's driving me nuts.

Any goals or "resolutions" for this season?
My goal is to buy no plastic for the entire season and year. It was my goal last year and I did it. I still have enough plastic to fish the entire year. An additional goal will to be win one more tournament than I did last year.

Those are some great fish. I can't seem to get organized enough to get over there. I did make it over to Alma Fri. and fought the wind. We picked up 8 on sticks but no toads like yours.

Shakeyhead
My next project is getting a shakeyhead mold I can be happy with. I have to say I have never , never played around with this presentation in a pool so I honestly do not know which ones do what they're supposed to do and which ones don't. Can some of you folks chime in here and comment about desirable qualities in a shakeyhead. I know the idea is for the jig to present the bait on the bottom in a vertical presentation but I have some difficulty swallowing this idea. I'm sure it happens but do some shakeyhead designs do this better than others ? What type of baitkeeper is the best, a barb, a coil, others ? Are you locked into a certain style or type of hook ? What say ye ?
