Casting guide placement?
Must have read your post at a bad time Lol didn't mean to be harsh. Ya done good!

Casting guide placement?
You have a very experienced builder tell you to put the butt guide 20" out 3 times, so you put it at 24". Why ask?

St. Croix Legend Extreme
Absolutely!

Alcohol burner
It leaves less soot because it burns clean.

First Rod Build Help: 3pc for mostly light worm use
I use KB's where there's more force being applied than I like the very small foot of the KT to handle. I always use at least 2 and have used as many as 4. How many I use and on which type rod is a judgement call. KB's are a good bit stronger guide.

First Rod Build Help: 3pc for mostly light worm use
2 or 3 KB's followed by KT's as well. I use 4.5 runners. I don't care for split seats so no help there. Very nice presentation of info pertaining to the build. You're to be commended for that!

Alcohol burner
Yeah Chris, you're not supposed to fry it! Lol To be fair, I've heard of a VERY experienced and respected builder doing the same thing. You can do it with an alc. torch also, if not very careful.

Alcohol burner
The main difference between a lighter and an alcohol torch is soot, lighters give off soot. If you need heat, get a heat gun. Alc. torch is an accident waiting to happen. Most often the straw method mentioned by Mick is sufficient for me.

4-pc travel rod blanks?
I think you can beat that weight total easily.

4-pc travel rod blanks?
I like the MXH for this, They're not short on power, and you can't beat the warranty. I'd lean toward The 843-3 for the med heavy fast, buts that's me.

Rod balance
Chris, looks more like 11" to me! lol Nice build though, I think that's about the most efficient grip you can make.

For DVT
We note little if any thickness difference between the 2 washers. The diameter difference is apparent if not a great difference. We put it back together and feel confident we have it right. Thanks again guys. Have a good holiday season.

For DVT
Here's where I'm at: when I enlarge the diagram to 500% washer #14 (spool shaft washer) appears to be slightly larger in dia. than washer #12 (sheet washer} when I look at the reel under strong magnification I can see the difference. When my kid shows up tomorrow and he confirms this, we'll put it back together. (It's his reel) I'm building him a rod right now and have no desire to get smeared up with grease. Lol Thanks for the replies, I will report back.

For DVT
Thanks A-Jay, I have the diagram, is #12 (sheet washer) the black one or the white one? I think it's the white one as it appears to be just very slightly smaller than the black one. If I blow the diagram up a few hundred % the washer closest to the spool does appear a bit smaller.

For DVT
I need to know which washer goes on the spool shaft last before the spool is put on. They are spool washer, click gear, and sheet washer on the parts list. One of the washers is black, (plastic or metal, not sure) , and one is white (I suppose nylon). When I took the spool off the 2 washers and the gear came off with it. The gear is sandwiched between the washers. If I knew what a sheet washer was, I guess I'd have it licked! Thanks, Lynn Sorry Mike, Revo X spinning, I'm an infrequent poster. Lol

Thank you very much Sir! I plan to lift it from the backing sheet with scotch tape at each end and position it. Will use epoxy base coat and CP. Thx, Lynn

Light Marabou jig blank for smallies
Mick, Been away a bit. I have started building this rod and yes he will indeed love it! Any advice on how to apply the rod spec. decal? It's a about 3/8" high x 3" long white lettering on clear background, on a light blue backing sheet.

Light Marabou jig blank for smallies
Yes, I should have mentioned 1/16-1/4 and has to be 7'6". I ordered the St. Croix. My other choice would have been the MHX SJ9000 at 1/2 the price and life warranty. When my son gets it for X-mas he won't believe I spent the money. Lol. (I can promise you this is the most I ever spent, or very likely ever will spend on a blank. (go ahead, call me cheap, I can take it) I'm nearly at the end of the road building rods for him, his rod locker's about full! If Elliot had a 7-6, I would have bought one. I've built him 4 rods on their blanks and he's very happy with them. I have an Elliot 6'10" MLXF sitting here I was tempted to extend, But didn't want this one to be a Frankenstein with unnecessary weight added. Thanks very much for the replies. ( If Point Blank had the right one, that would have been my first choice)

Need I look further than St. Croix SCV76MLXF? I'm usually building on blanks that cost about 1/2 that, so out of my league here. All suggestions welcome. Thx guys.

I don't think you're gonna ship that rod for 13 bucks. I'd be interested in knowing what price they do quote you. I think you're in for a road trip. lol
