Using 30lb X4 in yellow. I sprayed some WD40 on a rag and ran the line through it when I spooled up. Haven't noticed any bleeding in a few outings. So far I really like it.

Pretty easy to cast reel IMO. that is my dad's frogging combo. And he isn't very good with a baitcaster but send to have no trouble with the CT. Try and eliminates side to side play in the spool. Set magnetic brake to 10 to 16. Loosen up from there for more distance.

I know guys that use 30 and 40. I wouldn't, but they have been for years when it comes to frogging and fishing heavy grass. Most of the issue lies in the knot you tie. I personally use 50lb and 65lb for frogging and 80lb for punching. Just my preference. I tie a polymar knot for frogging and a snell for punching and have been lucky so far and none of them have ever failed.

The Irod Jerkbait/Topwater rod is one I don't own, but I do own 6 G2's and I like them all. Matt Newman sure knows how to get the action right on his rod lineup. I use the 7'3" Lonestar Special for Topwater and 7' Gabe's Rip Rap Special for shallow cranks. I don't throw Jerkbait enough to dedicate a rod to it. My next purchase is going to be the Stone Cold Vibe and Jig rod. It is supposed to be a very versatile rod. Bottom line is you can't go wrong with Irod, but the other rods you have listed are probably nice rods that will get the job done.

I read somewhere that a 4 carrier braid is like an off road vehicle. That being said, i use an 8 carrier for frogging and punching.

Irod 775, 7114 are worth a look. I know that there are some guys that use the 754 as a punch rod, I use it as a frog. good tip plenty of backbone. Loomis makes great products. They will work well for what you want.

Irod 754, 764, 775, 7114 in the Genesis 2 series would all fit the bill

The Fibers have the standard guides for the first 3 guides and the pitched forward for the remaining guides. As far as being made in China. The vast majority of rod companies producing rods under $200 are made in China. Fenwick, Duckett, Abu, *** rods, Megabass XX. Companies do this because it is more cost effective. I know Matt stands behind his rods and I currently own 3 Fibers, 703, 744, and 754. All are awesome rods for the money. I also own the Genesis 2 and Crusher series and both of those are made in China and they get prettier, have higher quality components, and are nicer rods the more money you spend. The Air's which are $250 are made in Korea and are Irod's high end rod. There are other brands that make their rods in Korea, Mexico, and some like Falcon and Kistler who have figured out how to make rods in the US and keep the price point down.
