Thoughts On Hand Trolling Motor Foot Controll
Don't think they thought that one through. I fished for years also with a hand controled motor. It gave me way more control over fishing without having to use my foot. I had a long handle on mine. Plus like the above I had a switch on both sides. Old Dimmer Switches that went in the floor on autos. I could fish a bank and not have to keep my foot on the peddle. Now I use a Terrova and have the best of both worlds.

Water Will Be Falling Below Pickwick Dam Tomorrow.
TVA shows that the water will start falling fast tomorrow from Noon to 6 pm. so looks like they are cutting the flood gates back to just a trickle. So fishing below Pickwick dam should be hot this week if the rain will hold off. Its showing the water level to be around 365 that is our old normal for up in the day. AS the water below the dam used to rise around 5 ft each day then fall out each night. But its not been normal in years now. But now for the bad part, If I can only get enough time to go it would be nice. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/river.php?wfo=meg&wfoid=18690&riverid=203324&view=1%2C1%2C1%2C1%2C1%2C1%2C1%2C1&toggles=10%2C7%2C8%2C2%2C9%2C15%2C6&pt%5B%5D=146541&allpoints=147354%2C146541%2C146543%2C147138&data%5B%5D=hydrograph&submit=Make+my+River+Page%21 Pete

What All Is Needed/ Which Brands To Buy
For me when I'm fishing peagravel banks, Nothing has beat Bandit crank baits in 200 and even the 300 Series. Even fishing water under 10 ft the 300 digs and catchs so many good fish its unreal. I have had more 100+ days on these baits then anything else. Then I use jigs I pour and tie, They have fish hair and then Deer hair for the tails, along with powder paint to hold up. These have been my go to jigs for 30 years. Nothing can beat tying your own and then catching good brown fish on those. Man it makes your day.. Also been playing with making my own spinner baits for brown fish also. Used to have an old man that made them, and man they were the bomb on fish. Pete

Pickwick Partner
What days can you fish? When the water gets back down and I can find the fish. We will try to get a few hours fishing in. And I can only say this for my self. But Sauger to me is the best tasting fish in the Tn river. Just a hint of sweet taste and man bring them home still swimming in the livewell, Fillet them out. Make a batch of Hushpuppys and then right into the oil. No way to beat them fresh and hot. Pete

Pickwick Partner
Kent I will not know for sure if I can make a trip Friday until Thursday evening. But if we can make plans Thursday we may just make a evening of it. I only live about 7 miles from Selmer. Will Pm you my phone number. But remember I have not done much bass fishing in the last 15 years or so. Or than live bait for brown fish early fall. But grew up on the river there below Pickwick. Also never fished it with the water this high for them. But had buddy's that wear them out when its like this. Shoot I bet I can learn a lot from you on a trip. Pete

Wintering River Smallmouth
I have caught some of my best brown fish dead winter time. Below Pickwick dam in water about 16ft to 22ft deep. They are not where you always think smallmouth bass are going to be hanging out. But along sandy bottom with few rocks or structure. But more near the river channel. I have had 5 over 6 lbs fishing this way in the dead of winter time. Water temps around 38 degrees or so. Also have had a few days throwing a jig and pig in 15ft of water around bigger rocks. And had a field day on smallmouth if you can keep the big drum off the bait long enough. Pete

Pickwick Partner
Can't belive theres not any of you below Pickwick dam fishing. Most years when the waters like this, The brown fish are eating it up. If I can swing it this week, I hope to make a trip. SmallMouth and Sauger. They have flood gates open, but if we can keep the rain west of us. The river should be slowing down by thursday. Pete

The Carolina Rig - By Hank Parker
Shoot I even won a local tournament back around 1986 using a white frog on a Carolina Rig along with a weight like this. These when used with a floating bait allow me to drag through rocks,Logs and even trees without hanging up. I make my own and use them from 1/2 oz up to 4 oz. Theres so many ways to use a Carolina rig its unreal. Shoot even caught a lot of Small Mouth bass using a Baby minus one crankbait on them off humps on Pickwick (Lower Section Tn). Pete

Wd - 40 & Bass
But the real Question is, Is there anything that is not Illegal in Ca? Next year I bet they outlaw plastic worms as they have some oil in them. Not sure if they have outlawed any outboard motor from being used in Ca if it uses oil? Pete

Trailer Barb On Jig Not Molding Properly
Know this if a few months old, but sure glad to find out about this product. As I have been having the same issues as the oringnal poster. Trying to pour small jigs with 3/0 and 4/0 Sickle hooks that I tie fish hair on for small mouth bass. This may well make it go from 25% good pours to at least 65% or better. Again thanks for the info. Pete
