This Is Why Japan Produced A World Record
Thats like some in a pond I own, A 5 lb bass grew so fast it was unreal. But also was floating within 3 years at over 11 lbs. It was somewhat like that one. So fat it was unreal, I cut it open and it was filled with fat. Now at that time it was the only bass in this pond, plus I had for years tossed all my left over minnows from Sauger and Bass fishing in there. It was over run with them and small bream. After that one Died I stocked it with 5 bass, 3 females and 2 males. Those have also grown off fast, plus raised more. But they die early for some reason. Pete

Wow
Always remember when you think life has you down. Its always going to be 3 times as bad for someone else.. To give you an ideal, in the last month and 2 days we have lost 2 family members. But on the bright side, they both were suffering. Also my wifes uncle was one of these, hes the twin of her dad. So we were alll looking into that coffin, thinking it was him also.. So when life gets you down, Take a breath, Count to 10. If you need do it again. I learned 16 years ago life is priceless, Almost dying twice will make you look at life in a new picture. Pete

What Is The Best Hooks For Cranks And Treble Baits?
I have about 100 baits I need to replace hooks on. These are from around 1987 to 1989, Some are AC Shiners, Bandets, The old first 20+ and a couple of the Baby - baits. Whole lot of wooden baits that were killer baits back then. These almost made me kill a person, He had looked at my Big Possom Belly tackle box. Then did not pull out the flip up cover on the front or snap down the top. Well even bad he had moved it out of the basement and rain had filled it full of water. Guessing it had to sit there for a couple of months before I got home and found it. There was around 300 baits in that box. Not junk, but baits I had faith in and could catch fish with. After digging through them all I threw away around 200 that has rusted the eyes off where they were not worth messing with. The rest has been stored and forgotten about, unit this evening. Came in from chruch and was hunting something else. When I stumbed upon the box that were placed in. So now that I have an intrest in bass fishing again. Plans are to add new hardward and good hooks. Pass some of them down to my grand son in a few years. Then some more down to the other grand son but hes only 1 LOL Plus fill up all 7 air brushes and paint part of them, in colors I have been dreaming about working up. Anyway back on point, Need to have a good ideal on the hooks that will not break the bank. But are worth adding to good baits. Guessing I will have to order 3 different sizes. So will just get 1000 of each and always use them to swap out some others I need to add good hooks to also. between these and the 375 Rattle Traps I have that also needs new hooks. That should keep me busy for a while. Pete

Lowrance Gps Question?
Have a few Questions for the ones running there Lowrance units, How slow does the GPS show movement? On my Humminbird units I have to be moving way faster then I need to be when fishing a spot that is pinpoint dead on. Was about ready to throw the Matrix 97 off the boat yesterday. When fishing a key spot that is about as big as a car, Its just way to much of a hassle to stay on those spots. I know throw out a marker. But when your fishing around other boats and there not catching fish. I don't want to mark them for others. Now I can take my Garmin Hand held and it updates as soon as the boat moves allowing me to know what way to move to get back on top of this single rock thats holding fish. Been running Humminbirds for a lot of years, started out with a flasher then the first LCD screen they came out with. Always told my self I would not swap. But with Lowrance having it where everything can be shared between both the front and back units. Plus if there GPS will show the boat moving at less them .07 MPH I may be saving my copper for 2 new units. I thought with the Bass Boys drop shotting so much. Humminbird would figure this out and fix there units where they allow us to stay on a spot. I have a 997c-SI and love it other then the GPS now showing me moving until I;m away from my spot. Even the Matrix 97 is the same. And hate to use the Garmin hand held to stay on a Spot. Lost in Pickwick because of a GPS that shows a donut until your moving way faster then I can and still catch fish..

Whoo-Hoo! Broncos Rule!
I gree with you, but there was a lot of people on TV kicking back and talking during his Senor year. That if he tries to turn and run in the Pro's hes going to be killed. But so far we have seen him do just as you posted. Drop that Shoulder and show them he can. Looking forward to him going all the way.

Whoo-Hoo! Broncos Rule!
Tebow has been told the whole trip, He can't do it. So hes showing them he can He can,He can, He can, He can.... But now for the good stuff. I have a nephew that plays QB for Purdue, He broke most of Tebow's records in High school while paying in Ocala Fl. But Rod did not get to play this year. Blew out a knee, but doctors have released hi so watch out next year. And I will also say I would love to see Tebow go all the way. Just so more can say He can't do it. You know they were right when they made the statemen he will never make it in the Pro's. He will get killed if he runs the ball in the Pro's//

Discarded Soft Plastics
I also stock pile the used ones and melt them back down. Then pour some wild colors LOL But they still make more baits and saves cash along with keeping them out of the water ways.. Pete

Recommendations For Tn Smallmouth?
Good luck in your search, If all fails come on to Pickwick if the time fits in with mine. Shoot we will fish a couple of days. Can't say you will catch a fish of a life time. But in that time frame above Pickwick dam, is a good time to catch a boat load in crank baits. Or if We can get RW to fish with us and show us how to do it right, We might just get a chance at a Trophy fish. Pete

Heading Below Pickwick In The Am.1/10/12
Well guess I'm just dumb. LOL Caught 4 good sauger 16",17.5" and 2 18" and put my Sauger rod up. Thinking I will go and wear the small Mouth bass out. Sure wish I had stuck with the Sauger, Fished from 9 am until 2 pm only one small Mouth bass it was around 3 lbs. Lost one fish, would guess around 7 lbs but only got a glimps of it. Then that drum took off upstream . Done a lot of looking and just seeing what I could see today. May try it again tomorrow down river for Sauger if the weather is not that bad. Also have a trip set up for Monday, buddy of mine from middle Tn. Were planning on going to catch some Sauger and a couple big Blue cats. Like this one.

Heading Below Pickwick In The Am.1/10/12
Everyone I talked with were catching them on Red heads and Green Tails. But they were not using minnows. But taking a sparkle Green lizzard and tearing the head off about the front legs. That is what we use most years. Sure beats getting your hands wet with minnows. Pete

How Do You Guys Paint Your Spinnerbaits?
This will work to spray powder paint with http://www.harborfreight.com/air-eraser-kit-99636.html And for heat I use a heat gun to heat my jigs and spinner baits with. Then bake them in one of my ovens for power paint. Build you a box with small filters for a furnace then spray into these. This allows you to catch your over spray then reuse it. But I just dip mine most of the time. I use 4" PVC pipe for my fluid bed cups and they allow me to dip 4 oz jigs and even spinner baits. pete

Big Florida Girl Shaking It

Heading Below Pickwick In The Am.1/10/12
Plans are to head to Pickwick in the am and give the Sauger a test. Hope to catch enough for dinner, then try my luck at a few Small Mouth bass. So it will be my fist trip this year. But sure hope its not the last one. Also they show the water will come up from this morning to tomorrow around 7 ft. So should turn the fish on good. Pete

Is That A Fish Or ?
If it feels different for any reason I set the hook. This time of year if it goes slack set the hook, if it stops moving when it should set the hook. So for me I don't care if I set the hook 30 times without a fish, but always beat my self up for that one time of not setting the hook and feel a fish drop that bait. But to answer your question, its that feel that takes time on the water to get used to. Years ago I saved up bought a new bass boat and equipent and fished for around 7 months. Until I ran out of $$ and had to go back to work. Best deal I ever did. Priceless to save for 5 years and fish for 7 months.. Wish I could do it again. You learn the more your on the water. Forgot to add I missed one day of that 7 months. And it was a death in the family I did fish 8 hours the evening before and fished all the day after. Pete

Lures And Their Pricing?
One thing most are over looking is our Dollar is worth way less then the Yen now. So we pay more for that also. One hook company has to go up 40% on there hooks a couple of weeks ago just because of that alone. Same with plastic baits it take more of our green to buy them, then Oil is up delivery is up, everything is up other than what my money makes laying in a bank. So I would rather spend it and throw it between the West and East Bank of the Tn river..

Winter Fishing, Time Of Day
Best days when its cold, have been around 1pm to 2:30pm. Even on deep water main lake points we would hit the lottery about this time of day. These bigger fish wait for that water to warm just a little, then the bait fish is enjoying it also. I remember on cold Feb day on Gunnersville Lake. We were fishing a tournament, had a few nice fish. But we waiting until 1 pm to fish this big main lake point. 5 cast and 5 nice fish from 9 lbs 13 oz down to 6lb 11 oz were boated off this cold winter point. Fishing 20+ crankbaits it was unreal. But in prefishing this one we had not gotten any good fish untl the magic hours, then it was on. We had 4 points like this that would load up with big fish. Have not fished those points in years. But funny part is, I came back too Tn end of Pickwick and was able to do the same thing. Pete

What Type Of Point Is This?
I like the main lake points that are under water. Say off a ledge or hump that falls off into the middle of the lake. And therefore being a Creek Channel or River ledge right near them. Lower end of Pickwick has a lot of these. And they hold the best fish and lots of Big Small mouth bass. Plus theres not near as many people beating them to death like the ones on the banks. But to me I was always told main lake point out on the main section of the lake. Mid point is back in a cove or Creek. Pete
