Fluid Bed For Spinner Baits?
Will be making up a dozen or so fluid beds for Spinner baits. Was thinking about making them 1.5" wide and 6" long 3" deep. Anyone else use a bed like this for buzz baits and spinner baits? I have lots of 2" to 4" round beds now. But thinking these longer narrow fluid beds would do better on these baits. Also using the membrane in the bottoms of my beds. Also been playing with power coating spinner baits. Works but man its tough to do, but paint is there for the long haul. After an hour or so below Pickwick Dam or in the lake above the dam. The smallmouth will wear the paint off crank baits. But not sure I don't like the baits better with those teeth marks in the baits.

Does the paint build up on the teflon pins? Or can you clean it off easy? I power coat all my baits just holds up way better. And so easy, Pete

Painting Crank Baits
If you do get into painting baits. Just a heads up, put the paint on thick will change the way the bait runs. And most times for for the bad. 25 years ago, used to help a buddy of mine paint baits when he was behind. And hate to say it, our paint jobs looked the same. But mine was about 3 mil thicker than his. And the baits he painted would out catch the ones I did. A bait shop at Pickwick was paying him so much for each bait. At that time I think they were getting $30.00 per bait to there customers. And these baits were not out on the displays. Only a few could buy these, we did them by the case back then. Pete

Airbrush Problems!!
Have you cleaned the gun? I know on my 7 guns if there's anything left on the needle it will do what yours is doing. But for the most part you may be trying to put more paint on faster then your going to be able to do. That is until you get the hang of the gun and paint. Each model of gun will act different. Pete

That was what is listed on there website. you can only use a site for 50 weeks out of the year? And that was on the new site. It may be that people don't know it yet. Plus at 15.00 per night with full hookup. Man that is cheap. Pete

You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
It it was unreal, all of them on deep diving crank baits. Sad part was, I broke off and my buddy in the back of the boat had the three biggest fish in the boat while I was tieing a new one on. Then stupid Yachts got to running over where we were catching them. And that was the end. For some reason that spot has never produced like that again. He has tired it a dozen times and never found them. But I know where its at, But will have to borrow that boat to find it. Put a Big X to mark it by.

You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
Thanks for the info, and I have been there before. But would rather stay closer. Even though for one day or half of a day, I hope to fish around the park there. Last time I fished there, between both of us in the boat. We had 2 limits of 5 fish each and averaged weight of 5 lbs per fish. Best fish was 9 lbs 15 oz, next was 8 lbs 11 oz and a pair of 7's. This same time of year . And within site of the dam. That was throwing 20+ crank baits That was I think in 1990. We were fishing a Club Tournament. Would have loved it to have been a money game

Jack thanks for the info. But figure it will be filled the week we will be there. Being they allow people to stay there 50 weeks at one spot. I bet its filled with people that park there camper there early and stay the whole year. But will sure check it out. Only bad thing, we will drop ours off on Sunday on the way back to Harrison Bay state park. As we always camp and fish there the week before this one. So would be leaving it where ever we stay until we get back on Wed. As I have to go home and get the boat. Can wash clothes in the camper. But still have to get the boat. May have a hitch on the back of the camper by then. Would only be around 80ft with it behind the 5th wheel. LOL Pete

Kentucky, Tennessee Or ?
If all the above is a must have. Huntsville Al would fit the bill. Airport , NASA is there and miles of city. But water in town you can fish. Within 1.5 hours of Chattanooga and fishing there. Or the same to Tn and Pickwick Dam. Or 30 miles to Some of the best fishing around. But if your hunting a low cost of living and no State income tax and fishing that is great. Pickwick, Counce Tn or near there is hard to beat. Not much here, Other then a paper mill, Small Pipe Steel mill, Million dollar boats. But for an airport memphis is 1 hour 35 minutes away. You're Invited To The 2014 Roadtrip!
Just a heads up, we did not get to make the trip to check out the cabins. But will ASAP, but going by Google Earth it will take every bit of 100 ft to reach most docks if not 150 ft. As for someone to share a cabin with. Looks like my wife will be there part of the time also. So will just drop off our camper the Sunday before. Then head on home and take the boat back on Wed am. Found a camp site a few miles from there toward the dam. Fisherman's Resort Campgrounds 300 County Rd. 411 Lot Suite 40, Town Creek, AL 35672 its about 4 miles away.

How To Get Started
I agree, find a local bass club. You get to fish and learn at a faster pace then by your self. Plus get the chance to fish waters you may not fish if not for the club. I used to fish with one. It was fun fishing with different people. But also if I were you, College is the place to start your Career these days. So many have teams fishing the series and no better way to get your name in front of Sponsors. Good luck and hope you make it. I used to also have those dreams. Pete Ps this link will get you started in finding the school with teams also. https://www.google.com/search?q=College&oq=College&aqs=chrome..69i57&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#es_sm=93&espv=210&q=college+bass+fishing+teams+list

Plans are to run down and take pics and check out how much power cord it will take to get from the docks to the cabins. And will also see what else I can find out. If you have something you want me to check out. Post it here and will check in the am. Or text me at 731-434 813one. If it does not work out for tomorrow. I will get down there within the next week. Also need to find out what day I will be signed up to cook on? Can smoke boston butts for Pulled BBQ,Smoked chicken qtrs and baked beans or Brisket and Baked beans. Of if everyone would rather have it and help me unload and load the cooker back up. I can bring the Big fish cooker and do a fish fry. Catfish and hushpuppys. Have fed all the above to hundreds at a time. Never anyone walking off not enjoying a good meal. Also anyone that needs to share a cabin? Also will have my boat with me, and have room in it. Pete

What Was Your Best Day Fishing?
It was something back then for smallmouth bass. Sad part is I have not fished most spots for years. And now 95% of the spots I used to catch all the brown fish from. Now has grass over it but still thinking the fish will be on those spots. Just have to fish them different. Bought a 1988 Bass Hawk boat that feb, and man did I have fun out of it. But sad part, caught just as many fish or more out of the 14ft john boat I used for years. Pete

What Was Your Best Day Fishing?
Have more then one of those. (1) over 200 Smallmouth between 2 of us on Pickwick around 1988. Best fish was just a little over 7 lbs and more then I could keep up with that was 4lb to 5 lbs. (2) By my self the same week, over 100 bass mixed bag same bait on the same waters. Best Largemouth 8lb 4 oz best smallmouth 6lb 8 oz. (3) Fishing with my wife and 140 lbs of blue cats in only 2 fish. She had the best one (4) over 50+ Stripers on 1 lb shad for baits in 4 hours. I could not lift my arms after that morning on the water.

Fake Hair
Mono does a great job on saving your jigs. I use it on the ones Tie up and its worth the extra effort. But I don't use it on all of them. Just a few I know will be thrown into the jungle. Works great on the jigs I tie up using Fish hair on also. Pete

Kentucky, Tennessee Or ?
If you want the best fishing around. Don't move near Counce Tn. As we have year long fishing, great weather sometimes. But the fishing is hard to beat. Smallmouth bass the best your going to find near you. Lake showing off with big largemouth we have them. Fresh water stripers until you give out. NO solid water here, we fish all year. Taxes not bad and no State Income taxes. Electric prices not bad and did I say all the fishing you want. Drive less then 2 hours from home and be able to fish the best waters within the states. Great food near you, and some of it the best you will find. Now for the bad, Hot steaming heat in the summer, but fishing is outstanding. Most winters we do get a chance of ice or show. But have been many Jan days short sleeve shirt while catching Big Small Mouth. Not close to any mall's if that is a bad thing. We do have some Meth heads but the Gene pool for those are killing there self's off fast. Pickwick Does have the paper mill that stinks and uses that dumping credits they buy to Pollute our waters. But its here so we deal with it. Good luck with your search. Pete

Not A Bad Day !
Man that is a bad day for sure. The way I look at it, after a day like that. Its all down hill after those kind of fish in one trip. But would love to be able to say I had a day like that. Makes those 100 Small Mouth bass days on Pickwick not as good. Pete
