Eagle Claw Lil Nasty Jig Hooks?
Been using Matzuo for Sauger jigs and bigger hooks for Catfish. They were always good and no issues, But the last 18 months way more issues then there worth. I have some 1/0 through 5/0 Matzuo Sickle worm hooks that are great. But there 3 years old or better and guessing not from the cheaper wire there using to make the hooks. Have a few Thousand of the Lil nasty jig hooks coming to try out. Wish they had them in bigger sizes as we use 3/0 and 4/0's for most of the Sauger jigs. Pete

Picked Up A Few Sinkers Today.
Yes These were off an indoor crane. And using a Skill-saw with metal cutting blade to rip them up. 2" thick and metal around them is less then 1/16th in thick. May have found 75.000 more pounds. Should keep me in Split shot for a few fishing trips.. Pete

Pickwick Dam Smallmouth And Stripes?
Man where was the wind blowing? I guess I missed the wind. HAHA That fish that popped my 6 lb line, I think was a good one. Line broke clean so may have been where the split shot was? Fish felt good but don't think it was as nice as the one RW had on a Chatterbait. That was a nice one, We did have one double and it was fund. Unreal now nice it was when the live bait bite was on. Enjoyed the trip with RW, and hope he will take me again. Nice to have a auto minnow catcher in the boat.

Pickwick Dam Smallmouth And Stripes?
Striper fishing starts down hill this time of year. There harder to catch around the dam when the water gets into the upper 50's and when it hits 55 its almost dead. Now white bass and stripers can be caught. But I fish down river 8 to 12 miles for them this time of year. Looking forward to fishing With Roadwarrior tomorrow. I'm sure I will learn more from him then he will from me . Was going to offer to take you fishing, then I see you have Roll Tide on your profile. HAHA Just kidding Will be sauger fishing this winter, if you would like to join in on that. Let me know and we will try to find a time to go. See your a baseball coach in Baldwyn? Bet that would mess up a mans spring fishing for sure. Pete

Self Inflating Pfd
Man glad I have the SOS suspenders. So far (Knock on wood) Never had one go off. And bought my first pair the year they hit the market. Now I have three 2 auto's and a manual. Will be replacing the 2 autos next spring with SOS again. A heads up if the pill gets old and has been locked in a hot auto for weeks. They will go off with just humid days with rain. I swap out the pills each year if it needs it or not. Pete

Smallmouths Professionally Fished?
If its on Pickwick Lake Tn end of Al end. More times then not smallmouth bags are what wins out. Now for your question, Way to many anglers would rather fish where the largemouth bass are then fish for the smallmouth bass. That or they have not caught the browns and are stuck on the bucket mouths. Again at Pickwick I have culled largemouth bass for smallmouths a few times in Club Tournaments years ago. Fish would be about the same length., but the browns are like a football. Thick and heavy here!! Pete

I Think I Just Hooked Into The State Record Bass
Wait until your fishing a Smallmouth spot. And hook into a 10 lb Buffalo in a Tournament and only 5 minutes left. Now that fish I will say had me hooked until we got it in the net. Fish even looked like a smallmouth when it ran by the boat. Pete

Rage Tail Craw Rigging For River Current

Pickwick Tailwaters High And Rising. 82,000+
Weather and buddy did not want to agree. So did not go, but hope to be on the water in the am. Looks like we can fish the boils for stripers and catfish should be easy to catch. So if time allows watch out smallmouth. Rode to the dam about dark, 8 gates open but rivers not rough. Pete

Pickwick Tailwaters High And Rising. 82,000+
Pickwick has flood gates open today. And looks like the next few days they will have a few open. Had planned a striper trip tomorrow at the dam. But may pick up some bait and try drifting live bait for Smallmouth bass. Need to catch about 50 to 75 lbs of catfish fast for a fish fry this weekend. But that should not take but an hour or so if that. Then see if the browns are liking the current. Know of a rock about the size of a VW bug that should hold a few tomorrow for sure.

A Bunch Of My More Notable Smallies This Year
Man even back in the 80's when I would run by that river in a big truck. I always wanted to fish it as it just looked like a smallmouth factory. Thinking north of town I used to pull over and just watch the water run by dreaming about getting back to West Tn and Pickwick. Pete

20 Lb Bass Below Pickwick Dam On The Tn River This Evening.
The Devil made me do it. LOL I get a good one every few years. Going back in a few minutes. Wife just got in from work, Boat is hooked up and I'm looking out the camper window at the river. There filling the lake back up now. So hope it gets better and better. Buddy and I hope to plan a trip on the upper Cumberland and try planer boards and big baits for them soon. Never fished for stripers. Average here is around 10lbs. But we catch so many that weight its unreal. I know if some of the striper fisherman that knows how to catch them. Could get a few 50 lb or better here. I know of a few 40+ last year that was caught. And I hope to get a 50+ within the next month or so. Will start fishing deep water soon for them using 2 lb baits and planer boards and down riggers.

20 Lb Bass Below Pickwick Dam On The Tn River This Evening.
I wish it had been a large mouth.. If so you would have heard me screaming from Tn. LOL We caught some this size around 1974 and TWRA was not even telling people they had stocked them here. But we started catching more and more so they let the cat out of the bag... Pete
