  1. I almost bet they are referring to "Commercial Fishing" and not the type of fishing that most of us do. The guys you see on tv on that deadliest catch show or whatever it is called. Now that is some dangerous fishing. JT Bagwell
  2. Judging by what I was able to locate in my 5 minutes of searching, they must not do that survey every year. A lot of sources only had the statistics for 2001. Here is that information on the Illinois site. http://dnr.state.il.us/fish/fishfacts.htm JT Bagwell
  3. A few years ago I took my last tow vehicle to a Best Buy store and had them install a JVC stereo and a Viper remote start. The kid at the register was new and some how the purchase did not get put on my credit card. At the time I didn't even look at the receipt that he gave me (it ended up being only a coupon or something of that nature). At first I was like "sweet I just got a new stereo and a remote start put in my truck for free". Then I thought about it from a different perspective. I ended up calling Best Buy and telling them of their mistake. The first Customer Service girl that I spoke with treated me like the biggest idiot. Then I reitterated the fact that I was the idiot that has several hundred dollars worth of their products that I didn't pay for and that they even got installed for free in my truck. So who was the real idiot? To make a long story short, after a half dozen calls to the local Best Buy store and a few more to their corporate office, I ended up never paying for the stuff I had. It was almost like they couldn't figure out how to charge me so I finally gave up trying. I wasn't going to force them to take my money, but I sure tried. When I went to bed after that, I slept just fine knowing I tried to make it right. JT Bagwell
  4. Hi everyone, Glad to see someone is thinking of me. ;D I have not been around much because I have been extremely swamped both at home and at work. My son is now 11 months old and now able to destroy my whole house at lightning speeds. He now thinks its funny to tease my Rottweiler with its own toys. Outside of fishing, I work for the Valspar Corporation and we are absolutely swamped right now. I am having to work nearly every weekend and we are working tons of hours during the week. I am sure that since fall is upon us, I will have more and more time to be online. It won't be too long until it's to cold to go outside around here (Northern Illinois). Take everyone and I will see you on the next go around. JT Bagwell
  5. That is not a "bulk" pack. That is more of a multi colored kit. A bulk pack would be more like 40 of the same color and size as opposed to 6 of this color and 7 of that color and so on. In the print catalog that is on page 16 not 18. JT Bagwell
  6. I doubt the consumer will notice much difference. For guys like me that work with Shakespeare, I will either have a lot more brands available to me or I will get cut from the mix and not have anything left. Time will tell. JT Bagwell
  7. I use a variety of trailers but most of the time it will be the 4" and 5" Yamamoto twin tail grub. I use a single tail 5" Yamamoto grub for Swim jigs. JT Bagwell
  8. I think the format looks nice, but overall it doesn't define "how" you will do things for your sponsors. Example: If I say "I am going to increase brand recognition for your company." That is a pretty broad statement with very little factual information to back it up. However, if I say "I will help your company increase brand recognition by utilizing my access to large scale advertising tools. These avenues include but are not limited to television, radio, print publications and the internet." That was a rough example but from there you could go more in-depth about each segment and explain exactly how each will be used. Good Luck, JT Bagwell
  9. I would check out a 6'6" MH Pflueger Trion rod (somewhere around $60) or the same size Team All Star rod (around $100). Both rods are very good for the money. As far as line goes, you can't go wrong with PowerPro. I use 50 lb test for most applications. Yes that sounds like overkill, but it is the same diameter as 12 lb test monofilament. It casts extremely well and gives you a lot more strength. JT Bagwell
  10. I really doubt that you guys will see any changes. I say "you guys" because I don't really buy any of their stuff. JT Bagwell
  11. I believe most of mine are size 2 and 4. WhiteMike: These are made by the company that makes Tru-Turn, Daiichi and XPoint (TTI Companies). JT Bagwell
  12. LOL They might give you a bass buggy. JT Bagwell
  13. Having a boat/motor sponsor will not help get you in a boat if you can not afford one without it. You are still going to be paying well over 30k for a tournament ready boat. (Unless you are way up the food chain) Your best be would be to find a used boat that is in good condition. From there, just save up and wait until you can afford a new one. I think all of the boat prices are getting out of control. JT Bagwell
  14. Get the BPS combo with the Pflueger President reel. JT Bagwell
  15. I use the red ones and they are great. They help ensure that you will have the proper hook placement when fishing a Drop-Shot rig. JT Bagwell
  16. Why don't you put your Pflueger reel on a Pflueger Trion rod? Last time I checked it was near your price point. I used these rods for a couple of seasons (before Shakespeare (Pflueger) bought All Star) and they are very good rods for the money. I would think you would be able to find them pretty easy. 17. I asked an Illinois DNR Biologist this same question once and she told me that the only accurate way to tell was to disect the fish. There were no external markings or things of that nature that would allow us to look at a fish and tell the sex. She said she would have to cut it open and look at the internal organs to tell what sex the fish was. JT Bagwell
  18. Ronnie, I employ the same mindset for my baitcasters. However, on my spinning rigs I try to go as small as I think I can get away with. JT Bagwell
  19. It seems that they are in high demand right now. JT Bagwell
  20. I have never had any trouble with fish seeing Cajun. I have been using it a few years now and even in crystal clear water I have never had any issues. JT Bagwell
  21. Best bait for a 4 year old is a Texas Rigged (weightless) 5" Yamamoto Senko. JT Bagwell
  22. I also have the Lee Production Pot and I empty it almost every time. I have the little ingot molds so when I am done I just pour the remaining lead into 1/2 or 1 lb ingots. After that I clean all of the crap out of the pot. JT Bagwell
  23. http://bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_beds.html That is an article I wrote about 4-5 years ago about Drop Shot fishing in the spawn. Haven't read it for a while, but I hope it can help someone. JT Bagwell
  24. The link isn't working for me. JT Bagwell
  25. I like to throw a drop shot rig on heavier line for bedding fish. JT Bagwell
