I grabbed a 68 special for swimming and the ultimate bluegill flat tail for jigging. Girls are just eating right now. It's up to you, I really like the face down eating look on the bluegill so I didn't want a swimmer.

Stay within the lure rating and you'll be fine. I frequently throw 1/2oz jerkbaits with it mostly. I have the spinning version and it holds up nice against 5 lb trout.

I like my CI4 models more than my FJ's, only because they are lighter. Size will determine what size line you'll use, I stick with the 6-10lb lines and stay in the 1000-3000 reel models. IMO, you don't really need to go past the stradic line since it performs great, I never felt the price jump for a sustain was worth it.

Carp fight so much better than bass, I don't get disappointed when I hook into them.
