Best bass fishing in the US??
Last I checked that wasn't in the US. ;D ;D ;D The word "best" is a pretty broad term. Best numbers, size, largemouth, smallmouth, or spots, time of year should also be a consideration .... etc. Kind of see what I am getting at. Maybe a little more info on your preferences could help us out a bit.

BassResource.com T-Shirt Review
Well my T-Shirt is both lucky and unlucky. We won't blame the unlucky part on the T-Shirt though : ;D. Last week I probably had one of my best days of overall fishing ever (5 bass limit) ........ 4 over 4 lbs, 1 or 5 lbs, numerous in the 2 to 4 lbs range, and one that got off right at the boat that was HUGE ........ all caught on video camera. All while wearing my new BR shirt for just the second time. That was the lucky part. The unlucky part ..... the camera is sitting at the bottom of the lake. :'( :'( :'( :'(

How many lakes have you caught a 6lb+ bass in?
Yes I have heard of that. It's actually known as Keith Sebelius Reservoir now. The dam is still called Norton Dam. At least that's what I garthered on a quick google search. Never fished it though.

1983 Skeeter Starfire/Evinrude 150XP
Congrats man!!!!!!! I am still eagerly awaiting the day I purchase my first real bass boat .... hopefully less than a year. That is a sweet looking rig too. I am a sucker for baby blue w/ a darker royal blue.

How many lakes have you caught a 6lb+ bass in?
3 lakes .... Lake Fork in TX and Truman Lake in MO are probably the only two that people know nationally. (3 ponds : ;D)

What is the weight of your best 5 bass in a day?
A shade under 24 just a week or so ago. I also had one get off right at the boat. It would have at least added another 3 lbs to the total.

If you could Bass fish anywhere in the world...
Toss up between the Amazon and El Salto. If someone came to me today and offered me a trip to either ... I would have to flip a coin.

sealed 12v battery
I've thought about the battery box, but have never got one. Right now I have an Everlast (?) I got from Advance Auto. So far I think it's the best battery I have had. I had previously been using whatever Wal-Mart carries ... Auto Craft (?). If my new battery is fully charged and there is not a ton of wind, I could probably push sunrise to sunset and that's my only means of propulsion. I've also learned that battery maitence is key. Now every time I get off the water I put it on the charger. I guess it's pretty bad for a battery to sit not fully charged and I have noticed a great increase in the length of time I can stay out since I have been doing this. I had a battery leakage issues in the back of my dad's brand new Trailblazer so I could see where it would be a concern. It completely ate through the trunk area all the way up to the driver's seat carpet. :-/

Drained Lake pics Update
They hibernated and went underground ..... ;D ;D j/k of course Amount the month before the lake was completely drained, they were allowing people to keep fish of anysize and allowed catching them by any means. I'm sure they will will restock it when some water returns. So it's going to be a while until there are some good fish in there.

In praise of shore fishing
Haven't you read these horror stories about water mocassins dropping out of trees into boats? Watch those overhanging branches!!! I guess I just better stay home ;D ;D ;D

In praise of shore fishing
I'll take fishing any way I can get it, but ......... there is one thing on the shore that I don't like ...... SNAKES!!!!! As soon as I see the first snake of the year, my bank fishing for the year is over. One thing I like to do during the spawn though is ... locate some bass on a bed in the boat. Place a marker bouy about 3 ft away from the bed, then beach the boat and fish at the bed from shore. Kind of cheating I guess. : ;D

Drained Lake pics Update
Before it fills back up, I plan on building something to put out there. Here's what I found on the KDWP website about filling it up. Douglas State Fishing Lake remains closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed. Valve was closed June 26th. Lake will begin refilling during runoff events Does that mean they are going to let if fill naturally?? ..... If so, it's going to take a looonnnngggg time I would think. At full pool, the max septh is 42 ft (but it's a fairly shallow lake when you get away from the dam) and it's 180 acres.

Inexpensive Polarized Sunglasses?
Couldn't agree with you anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your eyes are the only ones you got .... protect them. IMO (and an eye doctor I went to) a good pair of sunglasses is way more important than some high quality reel, rod, bass baot, bait, etc.

I made it in the Newspaper!

Fishing Pet Peeves
I am a pretty laid back dude but there are a couple things that can get me pretty hot while fishing: #1 Seeing somebody through a bunch of old line over board. It inevitably always ends up in my trolling motor and takes 20 minutes of surgery while on the water #2 People who use the boat ramp as their own personal playground ... whether it be swimming, fishing, whatever ..... and don't get out of your way when you are coming in or heading out. For the most part I try to check the worries at the water's edge.
-
is this a healthy bass?
It's definitely got that Head and Tail disease ...... where the head grows too close to the tail ;D ;D ;D If you have another body of water near you, you could transfer some of the smaller ones there. But you might want to check with your DNR about that.

Do You Remember Your First Bass?
June 13, 1993 - It was my Grandpa's 60th B-Day so it's pretty easy to remember. I was 10 1/2 and had been fishing since I was 8 or so. Mostly for Bluegills and Catfish with a worm and bobber. I was at the little lake down the street with my Grandpa and Dad and we were fishing off a dock with the go to bait back then ..... a worm and bobber. There was a guy fishing next to us who had a gold fish rigged up. He asked us if we would watch his stuff while he went to the bathroom. Sure enough as soon as he leaves, his rod starts heading for the water. I quickly ran over there and picked it up and started reeling like hell. I can still remember his spin cast reel and how it wouldn't gain an inch on this bass for quite a while. I finally got it in just as he got back and lipped a 3 lbs bass. Ohhhhhhh happy day. I was hooked. When we got back home I told my G-pa that I wanted to start fishing for bass. Him and my dad started letting me join them on their bass fishing trips from then on. They never took me before because they feared I wouldn't have the patience. If there is one thing I have, it's patience ... especially when it comes to fishing. The rest is history. They first started me out using small grubs. Then I looked through some of my dads old books and saw a t-rigged plastic worm. My first trip out with that I caught more and bigger bass then both my dad and grandpa combined and basically fished plastic worms exclusively up until 6 years ago.

Member Challenge? Rules
Here I will make a quick example. If this were the challenge sign up post, I would challenge LBH. LBH would challenge bassin_man and so on. Then GMAN (the first poster) would challenge me (the last as of right now). This is the basic set-up.
