  1. Congrats! Remember to drink plenty of water while outside.
  2. None of my rods and reels match in color. I worry more about how it's going to feel in my hands after casting for hours on end.
  3. Rat-L-Trap, 1/2 ounce jig, finesse type plastic with a heavy weight. Basically anything that has a low profile so the wind can't catch it when you cast.
  4. Good going! Way to make the save!
  5. Run a file over the hooks to make sure they are sharp. It will make the hookset easier.
  6. I've used the Bitsy Flip jig for years and I have never had any problems with them. From the money side of it I like them because fishing from the bank I tend to lose quite a few. I can buy them in bulk, and they don't break my wallet.
  7. I listen to a little bit of everything.
  8. Congrats! That is a nice one!
  9. Good going and congrats on the new PB!
  10. Its always a good thing when you find a rod you feel comfortable with.
  11. Now you had a good trip!
  12. For me it would depend on how much moss is in the pond, and how deep down the moss is located. Is the growth all under water, or is it spread out across the surface? If it is all on top across the surface I would use a weightless plastic, or a frog, as mentioned above. If the vegetation is a couple of feet under water you might get by with a shallow running crankbait, or a spinnerbait.
  13. I've never fished a veritas, but I do own a mojo. I don't care for the feel of it either. I tried it for jigs, cranks, and spinner baits. Had it paired with a curado, but it always felt heavy in the tip. Might try a round reel on the mojo later on, and see how that feels.
  14. Usually natural colors in clear water with clear skies, but not always. Some of the best fish I have caught have been in clear water with clear skies using a black/blue jig.
  15. Waste of time, don't use them. Just kidding. Flukes can catch some nice bass, if you can find the bass.
  16. We use to use drop shot rigs, and c-rigs for catfishing years ago. We threw them out and just let the bait sit. Of course we used heavier weights and bigger hooks.
  17. A cold front came through on Friday, so when I got out Saturday morning the air temp was about 28. Temp when I left was 57. Fished all morning without a hit, and I finally boated a little one around noon using a crankbait. I did notice a tree that was all decorated in fishing lures, but I didn't add to it.
  18. Nice catching, and nice looking water.
  19. Nice big bass. That fish must have quite the appetite.
  20. Welcome aboard Ford! Love our 2011 Fusion!
  21. Wow! What a way to start off the year, good job.
  22. Marabou jig 1/16 rooster tail Crappie tubes on a 1/16 jig head.
