  1. Don't know why my last post didn't take. What I was going to say was that I bought mine used back in '06, and it hasn't given me any problems.
  2. X4I bought mine used back in '06 and it hasn't given me any problems. x2, yes they are. x3 I got one the year I joined the Army (1997), and I used it until 2008. I gave it to a buddy who was in need of a spinning reel, and it is still in use.
  3. If I can hit the shad I will throw something that will drop down through them like a jig or a large plastic bait. If I can't hit them I try a rat-l-trap or a spinner bait.
  4. 5 and 6 pounds? Around here a 3 pounder is newsworthy.
  5. Days like this make you appreciate the days when nothing goes wrong.
  6. This is the first thing that I thought of also.
  7. A t-rigged 3" senko, or knockoff, with a 1/16 weight and a 1/0 hook. If you don't have a 3" senko just take a 6" bait and cut it in half. Because its more compact it lasts longer and doesn't tear up as easy.
  8. I t-rig them just like any other plastic bait.
  9. Around here if the bass are not biting a senko they will usually be biting a z-nail. I bought six or seven packs about 5 years ago when the BPS near me had them in a reduced bin.
  10. I usually say "Got him", or "Turn off the motor I have a fish".
  11. Happened to me last year. If there had not been a family with little kids about 50 yards away I believe that I would have cut loose with the cuss words.
  12. IMO, I would be more worried about the reel than the rod. You don't want to be on a fishing trip and have to buy a new reel because the old one broke and you can't get parts for it.
  13. I like them t-rigged with a 1/16 oz. weight.
  14. Around 35 years or so. Started when I was around 7 or 8 years old. Took some time off around the time I got married and then started back up about 8 years ago.
  15. Mister Twister soft jerkbaits. They kind of look like a slug-o, but with a more defined face. My dad gave me a pack about five years ago and I have about a dozen left.
  16. I never use trailer hooks, I find that they tend to hang up in the weeds. I usually start off without a trailer but if I don't get any hits I will add one.
  17. Has anyone ever used one of these from BPS? Two people have told me that they are great, but the on line reviews are mixed.
  18. Right now I will get a new reel once a year. Most of my reels are 10+ years old so I am slowly getting replacements for them.
  19. Get the heaviest jig you can find and put a Senko on it for a trailer.
  20. I use a heavy rod with a fast tip and heavy line. When the bait gets stuck in the grass, I take up the slack, and give it a quick short pull, sort of like setting the hook. Usually jigs and t-rigged plastics pull right through.
  21. Years ago I stepped on a rock and it rolled over. My right knee came down on another rock and hurt like the devil. I ended up having a hole in my knee about 1/2 inch wide that they couldn't stitch up because it was round, and my knee cap was fractured like a windshield. It was OK around the edges, but busted up in the center. It took about two weeks for the swelling to go down enough to where I could bend it and put weight on it.
  22. I use Zoom more than anything else.
  23. Sounds like my house after spicy pizza!!
  24. Last year it was jigs. I am still working on this year.
  25. That fish is huge! Great bass!
