  1. Everyone on this forum taught me patience. After reading the articles and reading the threads over and over again, I finally got it . I was working my plastics way to fast.

    Welcome Aboard!!
  3. A couple of years ago, one of the cable stations (Discovery Channel/National Geo. ?) ran a show about a chimpanzee that was walking upright like a person, was much smarter than the average chimpanzee, and was shunned by the chimps around it. The scientists were speculating that this chimp was some sort of freak leap forward in chimp evolution.
  4. It would depend on why it had to be refurbished and the type of reel it is.
  5. We had a dry cold front go through last Thursday. I went fishing yesterday with a bright sunny bluebird sky. Low temp was about 44, but it was probably more like 37 or 38 at the lake. Highs later on in the week are expected to be in the 40's.
  6. I would go with a 6-1/2' or 7' heavy rod with a fast tip anytime your in really thick cover.
  7. For me the most informative video was the one on jig fishing, but I really think he missed the boat with the video with the animal scream on it. Russ could of had himself a close up of bigfoot .
  8. The two things I look for first are depth and cover/structure. Wind direction is a close third. I fish from the bank 75% of the time, so the first thing I do is throw out a jig or t-rig to get a mental picture of what is on the bottom. After I get an idea of what's in front of me and how deep it is I'll try to position myself so that the wind is blowing across the spot I want to fish and toward me.
  9. I've caught them on Rat-l-traps and spinnerbaits. More on Rat-l-Traps.
  10. I like to let them sink all the way to the bottom then slow roll them back with a nice steady retrieve.
  11. X2. Also having pretty good luck with jigs.

I would look for large holes and work the jig across the hole from one side to the other real slow.
  13. The salesperson that sold me my phone said that T-mobile phones have a card in them that you can put in other T-mobile phones, kind of like a memory chip. If you have everything saved to the chip and something happens to your phone, you can buy a cheapie T-mobile phone, put your chip in and you will still have all of your info. Don't know how they work after they have been wet though.
  14. Here in Mo. the only time I can't get out in winter is when the water freezes.
  15. I started out with crankbaits, just cast them out and bring them back in. When I started fishing jigs, I had no problem working them slow and dead sticking them at times. Plastics took me a little longer than jigs. For some reason I just couldn't bring them in slow, I always wanted to crank them.
  16. I lost interest for about 7 years, and then gradually got back into it. IMO, its like everything else, if you don't find a pace you like, you'll burn yourself out on it.
  17. Went out Saturday morning to some small ponds around the area. Got out there around 5:45 AM and didn't get a bite until about 9:30. I pulled out a small dink that wasn't hooked - he was just hanging on to the plastic worm. He dropped off and fell down into the rocks. After I dug him out I put him along side of the Zoom finesse worm I was using. This bass was the same length as the plastic worm, which is about 4-1/2 inches long. I'm pretty sure that this one was the smallest LM I have ever caught on a artificial bait.
  18. When you do odd jobs at your in laws house to get more spending money to buy more baits with.
  19. I like snaps for hard baits and a palomar knot for plastics, jigs, and spinners.
  20. A Johnson Century Spincast reel on a green 5 foot rod that was as limber as a wet noodle. I still have both the rod and reel.
  21. Is that all? Jeez, you got off easy.
  22. Good job!! There ain't nothing like catching them on a jig.
  23. Its finally starting to cool down here, but we are about 10" below normal on the rainfall.
  24. A memory of a lunker will stay with you forever, but alot of dinks get mixed all together.
