  1. I like to trim the guard even with, or just a little above the point of the hook. As for the skirts, I really don't shorten them that much. I do trim them so that all of the strands are even and the same length.
  2. Oh thank goodness.
  3. I have seen this several times, but the bass are always on the small side and swimming in a V formation.
  4. I caught this 4-11 yesterday on a watermelon candy superhog. I didn't notice it until I was looking at the picture but he seems awful thin. I have only fished here once before so I'm not sure what type of baitfish are in this pond.
  5. Rat-l-trap 1/2 ounce black/blue. T rigged plastic worm.
  6. Around here the dinks like to bite off the tails.

I've been using Booyah and Strike King Bitsy Bugs.
  8. And stay away from trees on small islands out in the middle of a lake!!!
  9. I usually go in the mornings. I try to be on the water between 5:00 and 5:30.
  10. Maybe it was rabid ;D.
  11. So Avid, do you ever get a chance to fish in the weeds???? ;D I like the creek beds that run right through the middle of a shallow flat.
  12. A LM that went 5-4 on 5-26-07. I got him on a watermelon candy Zoom z-nail.
  13. I have caught most of my LM this year on soft stick baits. In fact this spring I've done better with soft sticks than with rat-l-traps.
  14. Catfishing about 25 years ago I laid my rig down on some rip-rap and for some reason walked away from it. Next thing I know its getting a bite, so I start running across the rocks that were about the size of my foot and one turned over on me. My right knee came down on rock with a sharp point and it punched a hole in my kneecap about the size of a penny. By the time I got down the ER, my knee had swollen up twice its size and I couldn't bend it for a week. The most painful thing I remember about this was when the nurse told me to bend my knee so they could x-ray it. I told her it wouldn't bend, but they bent it for me. My dad said he could hear me scream out in the waiting room.
  15. I've never tried melting two halves back together. I put different colored old plastics in a clear baggie with some new plastics and set them in the sun for a couple of hours. When the baits get warm the colors will run from the old plastics into the new plastic for some interesting colors.
  16. I have never had any luck on them.
  17. 30+ WOW That's great!!!
  18. I tend to use ultra light gear only when the larger baits will not work for LM or if I'm going crappie fishing.
  19. 99% of the time I will be with someone. Boats? Lets see jon boat, bass boat, and pontoon boat.
  20. Unless they have a really good sale, I'd say around $20 each trip.
  21. I usually get out on Saturday for about 5 or 6 hours. This weekend I was able to take an extra day off from work for a four day weekend. I plan on heading back out on Tuesday after the crowds have gone back home.
  22. The rain had just stopped and I was fishing a t-rigged weightless z-nail in about 5 feet of water. The bottom of the lake is full of weeds and moss is starting to grow in patches around the bank. I felt a tap tap and when I set the hook I knew it was bigger than the dinks I usually catch. This one went 5-4.
  23. A week ago I had the same problem. Med. action rod w/ 10 pound line. I thought Mr. Bass was heading for a tree in the water and instead he buried himself in the moss and I couldn't get him out. Last time out I had a heavy action rod w/ Yo-Zuri #15. No more problem.
  24. If I'm in a boat I would prefer to fish alone.
  25. I caught myself one time. The lure was hung up and when I pulled the bait came out of the water right for my nose. I put my hand up to block it and the treble went in between my second and third finger. I had to go to the ER to get it removed.
