  1. Grab a strand of regular "fused" Fireline and a magnifying glass... tell me its not braided. Every braided line I have used (certainly there are many I have not used) has a waxy coating of some design... isn't that a fusing process? Cold fusing or hot (thermally) fusing... aren't they trying to accomplish the same thing? Don't believe everything the MARKETING DEPT. has printed on the package. It's their job to make a product APPEAR unique and better than the competition. oe
  2. I've been reading this for almost two decades now. Please explain to me how the process of weaving individual fibers into a braided line and the process of fusing the fibers of a multi fiber line have to be mutually exclusive. oe
  3. I believe Fireline was introduced in '92/'93 and it is Dyneema. oe
  4. Jaheff... are you confusing Dyneema with Dacron? oe
  5. If you were to replace the name NanoFil with Fireline in the review, I would have sworn I was reading a review from 1992! oe
  6. John (and others above) is right about out of state sales tax obligations. Many, if not most or all, states place the obligation upon their residents to report and pay sales tax to their own state treasuries on purchases that would have been taxable within their own state but made out of state and not taxed by that state. I'm worried that the federal goverment will decide to get into the sales tax business! oe
  7. I would suggest that the difference in smoothness between those two lines has less to do with spectra vs. dyneema and more to do with number of line filaments that are braided together, how many pics per inch (tightness of weave) and amount of coating that is used with each line. oe
  8. kennyo... Even though I wouldn't know which side of a bow to stand on, I do appreciate you posting that information. oe
  9. Will you link to your source please. oe
  10. Wind socks do reduce speed... you just need a larger one or another one. Sorry it didn't work as you expected. oe
  11. Never thought of reels as right-handed or left-handed, only reels with the handles built on the right side or the left side. I choose to fish with reels that have the handle built on the left side. oe
  12. I think you may need more sock than that for your boat. I fish out of a 16' aluminum tiller that is smaller/lighter than yours and I use that same drift sock ALONG WITH up to two other similar sized socks. The wind velocity will determine how many bags I run... and I do occasionally use all three together. oe
  13. Cut the old hook off and use a small spit-ring to attach a new hook. oe
  14. Possibly the most important question concerning crankbait color should be concerning water clarity. The more water clarity the less obvious I want my crankbait to be... the less clarity... the more obvious. This pertains to color, action, silouette and noise. eo
  15. Would you post your source for that statement. steve
  16. The Skitter Pop does have a similar appearance, but that's where the similarity ends. steve
  17. What are the differences between the 4600UC and 4600C3? steve
  18. "Where" you fish a grub should be of primary concern, followed by size, visibility and action. I don't think "taste" rises very high in importance when fishing a quickly moving bait for bass, who are primarily sight feeders. steve
  19. They have been out of production for several years, but occasionally you can find them on Ebay. If you have a chance to pick one up go for it. It continues to be my favorite popper. steve
  20. Let the bait load the rod on the backcast before you snap it forward. steve
  21. For jerkbaits and top water baits I think the mentioned colors are all good choices. For deep running, bottom banging crankbaits I'd be choosing some darker colors. steve
  22. I don't undestand your need to "smooth out" your knot. If you tied a bad knot, retie it. steve
  23. OkobojiEagle replied to Md's topic in Tournament Talk
Really? In a week's time I watch far more Versus than all three ESPN channels combined! The Outdoor Channel isn't even an option for me.
  24. 3-4 wrap Trilene knot with 3/8" tag steve
