  1. So I'll take from the responses... no one Happy hooking... oe
  2. Out of curiosity... who has gotten to the point in his/her hard bait fishing that they've tossed aside all crank baits in favor of jerk baits? Anyone almost there with only one or two crank bait exceptions? oe
  3. If you have trouble controlling your cast when running ceramic bearings dry, add a drop of oil. This will slow them down a little and help with control... the higher the viscosity oil, the more control. oe
  4. Google and search functions can be your friends... oe
  5. Buy various weights Roadrunner jigs; paint to your satisfaction; learn to tie various dressings (rabbit strips, buck tail, marabou, mylar...); enjoy oe
  6. As light as I can still feel on the bottom... oe
  7. I can't believe painting your lead weights will improve your fishing, but it may keep you healthier. oe
  8. I bet whatever you're now using for grubs will work great for tubes... oe
  9. Sorry not retail fishing, but 11 years part time working in a major bait manufacturing plant. oe
  10. Yes, I use light wire hooks and I play the fish accordingly. oe
  11. Google "stupid tube" bonus tip: slit the bottom of the tube along the hook shank. oe
  12. 21 3/4"... couple more years it'll be 22" oe
  13. Even after purchasing "the tool", knowing which end to push and which end to pull can be a trick. oe
  14. I believe fluoro is more abrasion resistant. oe
  15. Where you're fishing in wood cover I'd be using fluoro. I do like a co-poly mono when fishing more cover free environments, especially on or near the water's surface. oe
  16. I'm assuming largemouth. Very clear water leads me to look for cover. I'd try fishing the outside deep weed edges with whatever plastic bait I was proficient with... in my case most likely a 5" grub on a jighead heavy enough to swim as deep as the weed bottom is. If there is a well defined inside weed edge I would fish it as well. Quiet wooden docks near or over water 8' or deeper would peak my interest as well. oe
  17. While in college we had a pretty subjective scoring system of the gals present at the bar we were frequenting. That scoring system endured dramatic revisions as closing time approached... oe
  18. Perhaps your discussion with the boys could have been framed in such a way as to imply they may be in violation of your state's "wanton waste" laws and subject to the penalties of that violation. oe
  19. Yes, I have three drift socks in my 16' Alumacraft. Two of them are the same size and are deployed in tandem to help keep the boat aligned, the other is larger and most often used alone. I like to pull my boat down a shoreline with my bow electric motor and drag the tandem socks behind. The larger sock I will usually use tied to the bow and let the boat drift with the wind backwards, controlling position with a stern electric motor or the outboard. I have seven cleats on my boat; at the bow, on both port & starboard stern, both port & starboard 1/3 back from the bow and 2/3 back from the bow. This allows me lots of options both drifting and anchoring (two anchors). oe
  20. There are presentation techniques that are better suited to bait casters and techniques that are better suited to spinning tackle. It will improve your bass fishing to be proficient in many presentations using both varieties of tackle. More important than the tackle is understanding your quarry. oe
  21. The big winner from this thread is Tackle Tour. oe
  22. If you're not already using a two-handed casting technique... try it. oe
