  1. Why not just get a muzzle break on your 7mm and keep on shooting? :-?
  2. That's awesome! What a story.
  3. I agree! ;D Come on, so because I eat beef, I would have no right to complain if the farmer down the road let his cattle get loose one ran out in front of my car at night and I was injured? That sounds mighty PETAish.
  4. The vast majority of the deer I shoot are within the same rang you mention here. I have killed a few at around 200 yards, and one at 350 (shot her in the head too!).
  5. Hookem, I use a 7mm Rem Mag. for whitetail. I typically hunt open fields, and this is definately the area where it shines. However, it does just fine hunting in the woods. Overkill is certainly not a problem.
  6. Hey Ike, What was the score of that game again? ;D Look, as college football fans we know that this is a possibility probability before the season ever starts. If it's going to get you all bent out of shape, just stick to the NFL. As far as the 1 second goes, so what? Football is not a race. You can lose by 1 point, but not 1 second. Bad argument. Oh, and one more thing: What was the score of that game again? ;D Go Pirates!!!
  7. I will only respond to your last sentence since that is the only one I can descipher. I did not say that I had killed nine. I've only killed two. The guys I hunt with don't eat as much deer as I do, so I clean most of theirs. However, before the season is out I always quit hunting horns and start plugging away at some does, so I will answer your question as it will soon apply to me. 1. Our deer population is out of control to the point where we can kill two does every day of our two and a half month long season. 2. Killing nine is more fun than killing four or five. I like to shoot 'em. 3. My dogs love it, and deer scraps are cheaper than dog food.
  8. From your post I'm guessing that you're too young to hunt, and therefore, have never killed, let alone cleaned a deer. Most people who kill, clean, and eat a lot of deer only take the hams and backstraps. I've cleaned 9 so far this year, and haven't touched a shoulder. I can get enough meat out of the hams and backstraps to stock our freezer for the year. I'm sure Burley is in the same boat. By the way, the anti-hunters don't "feed" off of us wasted deer meat. They don't feed off of deer meat at all! ;D
  9. Here is a fuller quote from the "Participation" section of their rules: "Participation is open only to tournament members of FLW Outdoors who are 16 years of age or older. Any person entering a tournament under the age of majority must also have the signature of their parent or legal guardian in the provided space on the entry form." I believe the term "under the age of majority" is what is giving you false hope. The age of majority is 18. So, according to the rules, you must be at least 16 to fish the BFL, but if you are 16 or 17 you must have the signature of your parent or legal guardian. Sorry, but this just gives you more time to practice!
  10. This is straight from the BFL rulebook: "Participation is open only to tournament members of FLW Outdoors who are 16 years of age or older." Sorry basspro, but you're going to have to wait a few more years.
  11. Just pile all your junk in boxes and drop it off at one of their locations. They'll gladly take it, sort through it, and put it where it needs to be.
  12. Nope, Glenn needs to create another sub-forum for whatever you just said.
  13. White men can't jump. Bizz is white? :-?
  14. I was thinking the same thing about music.
  15. I'm a runner. I ran in the low 19s in HS, but now I just plod around in the mid 24s. Lately, I've mostly been running with my wife, who just started about three months ago. Her first day she could barely run for 30 seconds, but she stuck with it and completed her first 5K in 36 a couple of weeks ago. Your times are great. Keep up the hard work.
  16. When are you going to plunk your 100.00 down for the honor ? If the Elite Series comes to my neck of the woods, I will certainly consider it. However, the point of my comment was to counter your "snitch" comment. No one in their right mind would pay $100 to snitch on someone else. But, a lot of people would pay $100 to observe a professional bass fisherman for three days. If you remember, back when BASS had the E-50s, folks were paying much more ($300 I believe) for the honor of observing the pros. Again, I doubt they were shelling out $300 to snitch.
  17. Anyone who wants to help uphold the integrity of tournament fishing will love this job.
  18. I'm looking to purchase a new handgun in the next couple of months. I'd like to be able to carry it concealed, but would also like it to have some knock-down power. I'm open to semi-auto or revolver. I would like to have a good, quality pistol. Any suggestions?
  19. Dosn't he normally disappear around this time of year for a week or two, only to return with his freezer full of meat?
  20. Amen to that. Buildings can be rebuilt. You can't destroy a church by burning down the building. That's right, Matthew 16:18 says that even the gates of Hades cannot prevail against the Church! Don't fret, God has a way of turning tragedies into triumphs.
  21. Thanks for sharing. That gives me just one more reason to go buy some more Craftsman products.
  22. You guys are making me homesick. I grew up in Harrisonburg and spent almost every afternoon on the Shen. That reminds me, it's about time to get back to visit some friends.
  23. Glenn, now your making an apples to elephants comparison. ;D However, you did help me bring out the point I was trying to make. It is "tougher to make it through the WBT than the federation" for men. In fact, it is impossible! On the other hand, it is possible for women to qualify through the Federation (as well as the Elite Series, Opens, and the Bassmaster Series). The WBT is the only avenue to the Classic that discriminates against a gender. Even if both genders were allowed to fish the WBT, it would still be tougher to make it through the Federation. Compare the number of people that fished the WBT to the number who fished the Federation. The chances of qualifying for the Classic are much better through the WBT. Again, even though I wish she'd have qualified through a "traditional" avenue, I'm still going to be cheering for Kim. I'd like to see her and some of the other big names on the WBT fish the Elite Series!
  24. Congratulations on living your dream! Those are some beautiful pictures.
