I think we should take a two-part approach. Start researching alternatives now. This would create a lot of jobs, which Americans need. But, while we're researching alternatives, we need to remember that while Kenedy set a goal to put a man on the moon he didn't quit walking on the earth until it happened. Oil is what we use right now, and for the forseeable future. So, while we're researching alternatives, I think we should drill in America. This would create even more jobs in America, which again, we need right now. It would also lessen, and potentially end, our dependence on oil that comes from countries that don't like us very much. I don't understand why most people believe this is a one way or the other situation. Why can't we do both? Research now! Drill now! That sounds like the most viable option for both our present and our future.

I love any chick flick that my wife wants to watch. We wait until they're out on DVD, rent them, and watch them on the couch together. She gets all romantic and then...well...you know. :-*

Lately I've noticed a lot of threads pertaining to music, and they almost always evolve to resemble a bunch of immature kids arguing over who's daddy is stronger. These arguments spill over from one playground thread to another. It's getting to the point where politics and religion could be discussed more civilly. In the spirit of the Grammy's, how about a truce? Bury the hatchets you've been swinging at each other, kiss and make up (or whatever you musical types do ;D). Please, for the good of BR.

Thanks Ghoti! I've challenged our congregation to memorize Matthew chapters 5,6,7 as I preach through them the first few months of this year. Several of the folks are working hard, and memorizing the Scripture, but a few older ladies have complained each week that their memories are too bad. I'm going to use this joke tonight with one of their names. ;D

Isn't the first part of your post saying that the gov't should be more involved and then the second part is saying they shouldn't be involved? :-? It looks to me like your post is contradicting itself. Tyrius, He's saying that the government should keep their noses out of this mess. He's obviously a Capitalist, not a Socialist. But, since our government is acting Socialistic, the very least the government can do is make the companies they choose to help out be accountable.

The weather forecasters are predicting 4-6 inches of snow in our area tomorrow, so under the BR winter weather advisory guidelines, that entitles me to start one ridiculous thread that screams "I've got cabin fever!" So, I decided to use this opportunity to reach out to my fellow popcorn-loving brethren. I like to pop up a good batch in oil, then melt a half a stick of butter over it and add salt. That's as close as I can get it to having that movie popcorn taste at home. Anyone have a suggestion for achieving that ultimate goal of eating movie popcorn without leaving your house? And please, don't respond if you're going to tell me about some lame bag that you stick in the microwave. I've tried most of them and they just don't add up.

If you really want to save money follow these simple steps: 1. Go to the dollar store and buy a calculator. 2. Get a couple of estimates on fixing the car that your brother already owns. 3. Get an estimate on how much the new car would cost you (including tax, tags, title, title transfer to your brother when you give him your car, and insurance rate hikes). 4. Take the calculator that you bought in step #1 and enter the price of step #3, then subtract the price of step #2. 5. Look at the figure that's on the calculator at this point and decide if it will be "worth" it. Or, you could just skip those 5 steps and buy a new car like you really want to do in the first place. It might not be the best decision financially, but it sounds like you had your mind made up before you ever asked us our opinions.

I get my TV reception from rabbit ears. I enjoy getting my three snowy channels for free. But, with the change to Digital TV, I had to get one of those boxes they've been advertising lately. I hooked it up today, and ran my regular old rabbit ears through it, but can't get two othe the three channels I used to. I've read online that I might need to get a rooftop antenna, perhaps even one with an amp, to get my other two channels (and possibly more). The only problem was, I found this information on a government site, and they're too unbias to tell me EXACTLY what to buy, where to buy it, and how much it costs. Could any of you help me out?
