  1. show us a before picture of it now with all the rust, then show us an after pic post rust, then a final finished pic when youre done completely
  2. at smith mountain lake, i just toss an empty non baited minnow trap out in the shallow rocky water near the bank, and when i come back in a month or so there are crawdads in there. wonder what i would get if i threw a few strips of bacon in the trap...
  3. chicken livers will actually catch multiple species as well. ive caught stripers, bluegill, and white perch on them in addition to catfish. though i would tend to agree that a huge majority of the time its going to be a catfish that eats it.
  4. game cam = bigfoot repellent as someone suggested you could email them to me and i will get them posted. are you using strictly your cellphone? because it may work better from an actual computer. let me know and i will PM you my email address to send the pics to if you want me to post them up
  5. so thats a redear/shellcracker? nice, glad you posted that pic, i caught one of those this weekend at smith mtn lake that went 10.25 inches. SML isnt known for big panfish because of competition from shad and alewives. though they have some huge crappie in there. i measured it because its not often to catch a decent sized panfish there. i was killing the panfish on white and pink trout magnets, chartruese caught a few but wasnt as good as white or pink. even caught a largemouth on a pink one.
  6. did you ever try the glowsticks?
  7. the thing is, youre going to see this picture of trees bent over into arches, with other logs holding them down by the tops on the ground and think "weather caused that" or "that means nothing".
  8. lol at the idea of using super glue, you should not have to use super glue to hold a t-rig in place. are you rigging them too tight in between the eye and the hook point? insert your hook point back further on the bait...
  9. i havent eaten fish in many years, but i never remember them tasting like grass. and yes, bass is primarily what we caught and ate when i was growing up...
  10. gotta say i love catfishing...
  11. man, sirsnookalot, i cant imagine fishing for shark and at the same time swimming out there with live or cutbait, at night in the dark too no less...
  12. there was a lot of snow in VA this past winter, more than normal. i missed a lot of work because of it. then 2-3 weeks ago we had a bunch of rain that flooded a lot of roads in Northern VA. It was a nightmare with traffic, as the day everything flooded, i was trying to get out of town to NC that night, after taking a couple detours and what not we finally got on a road that was flowing traffic and not backed up or detoured... anyways, im supposed to head to Smith Mountain Lake for a weekend of fishing tomorrow night, aside from rain tomorrow, everything there looks good for the weekend. it may help that im travelling away from the coast though
  13. What do you mean before you knew better? Even if you prefer bass fishing now, there is still nothing wrong using a cheap combo and catching crappie and catfish all night lol you make an excellent point here that ive made in the past myself. Fishing can be as simple or as complicated as a person wants to make it...
  14. i like too many kinds of music to truely say i have a favorite genre like many others im sure. really just depends on my mood i guess. but if i had to choose, id guess hip hop -hip hop(nothing new, mostly early 90s to mid 00s) Wu-Tang Clan, Gravediggaz, Killa Army, Sunz Of Man, Outkast, Boot Camp Click, Fugees, Notorious BIG, Big L, Big Pun, Bone Thugz N Harmony, Jay-Z, Nas and more. -Classic Rock from late 60s and the 70s -80s Hair Metal, love them monster ballads too - 80s Pop and soft rock. yeah i love a variety of it. you had some huge superstars come out and many one hit wonders. -Bluegrass. just something that is part of the family on my moms side from back in tennessee. i dont really know much of it, but love listening to some of it.
  15. back in 1996 i was 17 years old and in high school. i was cutting grass with a push mower and was home alone. the grass was kinda high, i had neglected it for a couple weeks. this was after i got out of school on a friday evening, i was gonna clean up afterwards and go out to the mall and for pizza with my aunt and uncle. never made it there. the yard was in like levels. cut a level, move down the steps, cut another level, as it was in the mountains. i was cutting near the edge of the dropoff of one of the levels and i slipped on the grass that was wet near the bottom at the ground. my foot went under the lawnmower, i shoved it off my foot and went and sat on the steps, took a few seconds and built up the courage to look down(no it didnt hurt...YET). well i had cut my big toe off on my left foot. paramedics looked for it, couldnt find it, doctor said it couldnt have been reattached anyways. so yeah i got a 1 inch stub for a big toe on my left foot now. luckily i didnt lose more than that, like half a foot or something. doesnt affect my walking though, and i didnt have to go through no therapy bullcrap, i knew not to walk on the side of my foot, i just dealt with any pain i had walking on it normal. now if i stand on just my left foot i fall to the right though lol. my moms husband got his hand de-gloved in a printing press about 3 years ago. he had to lose an index finger ultimately, couldve been much worse too...
  16. fact is, baitcasters are no better for certain applications. you can do everything with a spinning combo that you can a baitcast combo, and probably more, especially when it comes to light baits or lures. and all of these means nothing when it comes to being comfortable while fishing, or what hand you reel with. this debate has more to do with what hand people feel comfortable turning the crank with and what hand they feel comfortable controlling the rod with, also throw in what arm they feel more comfortable setting the hook with. everyone is different and has their own opinions or reasoning for why the choose left vs right, drag setting has nothing to do with it. also, by your logic a right handed baitcaster is more powerful than a left handed one, which is totally false, its the same reel flipped around for user preference, doesnt matter if they were made RH first and its more historically popular. i can horse in fish fast and hard with a spinning reel too, so really your entire point is moot...
  17. well arent you mister special exception to the rules totally unrelated, but your avatar picture is hilarious, too funny... those claiming sensitivity to feel whats on the bottom, often neglect to mention the expensive electronics on their boat that show them the bottom structure, and much better than dragging a rig across the bottom can. also many fail to mention the majority of their fishing doesnt even involve bottom baits. its a way for someone to justify spending $300 on a rod thats really no better than a $40 ugly stik. like i said, some people here who may not like ugly stiks have given atleast a fair assessment of them in their opinions. but then you got the tackle and gear snobs who swear they cant have fun fishing a $40 rod...
  18. do you have a photobucket account or imgur? just upload them to one of those and you can link the pictures here.
  19. thats the best avatar on the site. actually just saw that episode a couple months ago...
  20. nuffsaid, has had some interesting things going on around his place, and i dont think it can be attributed to kids or common animals. he got gifted a snake from whats most likely a bigfoot, that is totally awesome. its bigfoots way of saying thanks for the apples and watermelon. next time he may give a squirrel or rabbit. the more and more i read and think about this, im leaning towards that i actually do believe in bigfoot. ridicule me if you want about it, i dont care, i can handle my moonshine too btw. i have no reason to doubt nuffsaid, big bill, or the other guy who shared his story(sorry forgot your screen name and too lazy to go back and look for it lol). speaking of bigbill, i'd love to hear some more of your stories from your property in vermont.
  21. cardinals are a fine reel, mine has held up well. as for other reels in a similar price range, check out the pfleuger trions
  22. the thing is, Ugly Stiks make good all around rods, ive used them for nearly every popular technique using artificials and have caught fish too, and i am far from clumsy. try putting some thought in your post before you start slinging around insults and generalizations. high end rods are not every bit as durable as ugly stiks. fact is, the expensive rods are more likely to break. you never see a thread saying "i broke my ugly stik" but you see plenty saying "i broke my expensive rod and it ruined my day of fishing" theyre also good for people who already know how to fish. people constantly talk about wanting a challenge is why the use artificial only baits, and how tricking the bass is a challenge. yet the same people are also crying about sensitivity in rods and the high dollar ones giving them an advantage and such...thought they wanted a challenge? of course, i subscribe that sensitivity is more in your hands than the rod or line, sure some materials are better conductors, but if you cant feel with your hands what does it matter how good something conducts? right on dude. i think its quite absurd to call an Ugly Stik a gimmick rod because it boasts durability. if that was even remotely true that its a gimmick rod, then i can just as fairly and rightly call any rod that boasts sensitivity or being light in weight a gimmick too... ----------- i have no problems catching fish on my ugly stiks. its a fine product at a reasonable price point. it may not be the best rod in the world, but its not nearly as bad as some here make it out to be. some of you gave fair assessments, but others are just trashing it with no real logic behind it...
  23. i would put 12-15lb line on that reel...
  24. very pleased with the cardinal i bought about 5 years ago. never had a problem out of it.
