  1. it appears he is referring to bass fishing here...
  2. back when the BPS classic sale was going on, i got big spools of sufix siege mono for $5, normally priced the flyer said was $18-22 or something like that. couldnt pass that deal up even though i had never used it. ive only gotten out a few times so far this year, but so far so good with the sufix siege. i havent had any knot or breakage issues. the line is pretty strong it seems. one negative i seen is fraying, but i seen the same issues with trilene xl i had been using and it never was a major problem with the XL. every now and then or after a fish just check the first few feet of your line and retie your lure as needed, which is a good habit to practice anyways....i like the line and would recommend it, i have tried it in various sizes as well. in my opinion so far its very comparable to the trilene xl.
  3. i wouldve gotten something like this in the 6600 model, i have the 6601(left hand retrieve) http://www.abugarcia.com/products/reels/round-reels/ambassadeur-round-baitcast/c4# it has a bait clicker for your live lining and can be casted as well. its a quality reel plus its cheaper than the shimano. i could probably do some light trolling with it as well.
  4. if you dont need prescription sunglasses youre lucky and have a much wider variety of selection as far as price goes. i got a pair of prescription ray bans that cost me an arm and a leg lol. i believe they cost around $350-400...
  5. you could of also smelled a sasquatch lol i wont even handle a dead snake, im extremely terrified of them lol get some chickens, then you only have to build a chicken coop and pen. chickens will obliterate snakes. keep them in the pen at first, let them learn thats where they live and get fed. then in the mornings you can let them out to roam free and put them back up in the evenings before dark. plus they will eat a bunch of bugs and ticks in your yard. plus fresh eggs.
  6. http://www.abugarcia.com/products/reels/round-reels/ambassadeur-round-baitcast/c4# i own one of these i use for striper fishing, i have the 6601 model which is the left handed model, 6600 is the right hand retrieve. i also use it for catfishing. i personally love the reel, its smooth and powerful with a fast retrieve gear ratio. i got mine on sale for $99 from another website. it also has good line capacity. i have 25lb big game on mine...
  7. i can understand not wanting raccoons around, but whats wrong with having a doe in your field? unless youre worried about eating your garden, plants, and young trees..
  8. actually im not near marshall, just in the same state. havent lived here but maybe two years. northern virginia just got too expensive. i was actually referring to the movie...
  9. i stand by my post. ive read the piece. the right gear and tackle is a none issue with me, id fish with a cane pole if thats all i could afford. if im fishing a place where i know there is fish, and im skunked then your last statement isnt very true, the fish are there. ive spent a few hours covered every inch of a small pond my uncle owns more than once, there are plenty of bass there, and ive been skunked while casting every inch of the pond. there is no gauranteed way to catch a bass, and there is no virtual certainty either. some days you cant buy a bite, other days you cant keep them off your line, and other days its everything in between...
  10. everytime i see "we are" refering to college sports i think of Marshall, not Penn State. same when lavar arrington(went to penn state) starts talking about it on his local radio sportstalk show here...
  11. he clearly said his bait wont sink and that it stays just under the surface and drifts
  12. there is no guaranteed way to catch a bass, if there was none of us would ever get skunked...
  13. is the fat ika really a craw imitator? because yamamoto makes a craw. i got some of the craws but theyve never produced a fish for me. anyways, i like the rage tail craws myself... for hard craws, i like the ones made by rebel, the floater/divers....
  14. amazing fish there, good job. sounds like you had a great time
  15. regardless of your satisfaction or dissatisfaction with those companies customer service, it sounds like its all your own fault for leaving them out in the sun and exposed to the heat... ------ i have a couple of the CC lipless cranks, never caught a thing on them...
  16. how does your bait not sink? unless it was a bait that is designed to float or suspend ive never had a bait not sink even if its windy out.
  17. for $50-$100 you can buy a good enough NEW reel that will last you a longtime...
  18. just take some worms or senkos and cast them around, you got nothing to lose really.
  19. haha thats hilarious. reminds me of the time here at work. we are constantly opening and closing bay doors, moving stuff in and out. well im back here in my laser printing room working on an address list for a mailing we had. i have 2 computers that i work with. well this day i seen something out of the corner of my eye next to me at my other desk. i save my file, look over and theres a little gray squirrel staring me straight in the face. i yelled and jumped up, at the same time the squirrel jumps off the desk into the floor and back up on the desk and into a corner between the desk and a shelf. we got a small box in there and got him into that with a broom handle and set him free outside.
  20. deep woods off has always worked for me. ive never seen it affect a bite either. first thing, im not spraying it on my hands to begin with. second, im not spraying it on my lures either lol.
  21. i would go with lizards or creature baits in your scenario. drag them slowly along the bottom
  22. wouldnt even have worried about, i bet it caused no damage in the first place
  23. the bass dont eat vegetation. they eat other fish, crawdads, worms, bugs, etc... the crappie, they compete directly with the bass for the same food sources. i would start by removing a ton of crappie first, and then the bass. but either way, the turnaround wont be overnight...
  24. dont be afraid to try something new. and just because a certain lure or technique failed you in the past doesnt mean it will always fail you in the future. catching fish consistently can take time and effort, its not always as simple as chunking and winding.
