I did a bad, bad, bad thing...
If that was your garage I'd tell you to move the boat out of the way and take more pictures. Dream garage indeed.

Is that your garage at home? Nice rig BTW.

What should we do to Cart for the dirty trick he pulled.
Sure, keep piling it on guys. No wonder it's taking so long to plan this thing. Trying to accommodate the, how shall I say it, dis-functional nuances of all attending members takes time. In keeping with the latest "Do you care what you wear thread", I completely forgot about the need for a room with a fashion runway for the fashion show. I think I'll turn that part of it over to Ryan. Despite the fact his idea of fashion is wearing womens clothes. ;D

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
I did. I messed with the STX and SX till I was blue in the face. Then I picked up a couple JM sig reels and fished those along side the STX's. I began to wonder why I was screwing around with the Revo's. (I don't have any complaints with the S Revo's) I suppose I pick my fishing reels like I would a golf club. I wouldn't pick a high end club that has an exact sweet spot with no forgiveness. I want a club that gives you a little benefit of the doubt if you mishit the ball. It makes the game so much more enjoyable. If you can toss a variety of baits on an STX without using your thumb I give you credit. I doubt that's the case though.

Just off the top of my head here's what would have to be taken care of. A lodge with a least one room that has a bathroom outlet capable of supplying 5,000 watts for Keri. A quick heads up to all the local liquor stores to dust off the Franzia boxes, they'll finally be able to move that cra.....er uh, fine wine. Make sure the lodge has a walker for RW for those nights he's visited the Franzia box one too many times. Make sure the banquet room and restaurant have booster seats for LBH. Arrange for a licensed health food inspector to show up on chicken night. (sorry Wayne, I just couldn't resist.) Alert local law enforcement authorities to have the bomb squad on standby if JJ shows up. Inspect the integrity of all outdoor seating. Check local campsites so we don't conflict with any groups like the moonies, Hari Kreeshna's, PETA, Tree huggers or any one else that might pizz off Blaine. Pre-reserve a boat parking spot for Mike that involves no difficult backing nor the need for running an extension cord any longer than 20 feet to an outlet. Make sure 5BL's gift bag has one of those strings your momma used to tie your gloves to your coat. First thing, tie the string to Scotts boat keys. Arrange for a chase boat to follow SMFisher all week just in case his tackle bag flys off the back again. Investigate reliable wake up services for Burley. Man, I'd better get started.

You won't like where I pick CJ.

Can I put JJ's in a spray bottle?
I can't say for unopened bottles but previously opened bottles will start fizzing out from under the cap. If one starts doing that RUN seriously, the one I had actually got worse when I dunked it in the much cooler lake.

Fish Identification
If you live near Missouri I'd be happy to come to your pond and help with further fish identification for you. I'm sure it will be a survey that takes quite a while over multiple trips. I promise not to leave a mess and will fillet anything I catch if you're interested.

How possible is it to make a living just fishing?
Just fishing? How would you earn a living just fishing? Are you going to put a hat on the dock and suggest people would toss money into it for the pleasure of watching you fish?

Anyone else fish from a pontoon boat ?
There's a reason BPS calls them "party barges" Great for fishing with multiple people (more than 4) Otherwise they suck IMO. The couple times I've fished out of them we got blown all over the place.

Patriarch Vs. Johnny Morris Signature Series
I own both of these reels. As for the dual braking differences? The actual mechanisms are identical. I can't really say one reel outshines the other in preventing backlashes. These reels are literally thumbs free casting. Set up right, my thumb is on the reel just before I release the spool for the cast and again when I want the lure to stop. I rarely have to thumb it otherwise and that includes casting into the wind. Some lighter baits might require some thumbing during the cast especially if it's windy. The biggest difference between the 2 is weight. The JM sig reel weighs over an ounce more than the Patriarch and the overall profile of the JM reel is taller and a little wider (as compared to a Patriarch LP reel).

Can I put JJ's in a spray bottle?
I wish it was that simple. I don't pre dip because I like the really strong smell it puts off. I know the smell is permanent but IMHO it's still stronger it's first hour or so. I go threw close to a pack of ragetail craws a day thanks to the bluegill. So I'm always putting on a new one and I end up dipping several times a day. Then this stuff can gas up and drip off the lid onto you as well. I'd say I'm loosing close to half my JJ's to it gassing up and yes it's in a cooler. So it would be nice to find a spray bottle solution. It would be tough to work it as a die but for the clear it would be perfect. This is a little concerning.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
On the Johnny Morris or Patriarchs or Summits. The thumb is rarely used other than holding down on the spool until you release it at the beginning of the cast and stopping the spool at the end. Properly set up those reels are virtually thumbs free casting even into the wind.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
If you're snapping your wrist and forearm violently you're cast control knob is set too tight. When **I** started loosening the cast control knob to a point where the weight of the bait is pulling the line out easily, then both the centrifugal or mechanical brake works more effectively. On a mag only reel like the Revo SX or STX, a setting like that gets you a backlash. On those reels you have to set the spool tension so you have to jiggle the rod to get the lure going.

Do you care what you look like when your out fishing?
Why not get rid of the boat insurance board (nobody uses it anyway) and rename it: Bass Fishing Fashion. I nominate Ryan to be the head fashion cop. Seriously, I don't know stuff about fashion, I could use some advice from some of you gir....er I mean guys on color coordination, what shoes go with what tackle bag, accesorizing for success, maybe a fashion show at the next road trip? Long Mike and Burley could be models.

New Lowrance HDS-5X
I don't know about the HD's but both Cabela's and BPS have the 510c's on sale for around $350.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
The 2 brakes work at different parts of the cast. The centrifugal works during the initial spool spin up. Probably the hardest part of baitcasting to control properly due to the rather violent nature of snapping your wrist and forearm during casting. It's also the part of the cast that makes or breaks distance and whether a backlash can happen further into the cast due to line looping on the spool due to overrun at startup. Mag brakes work towards the end of the cast when thumb control is important. Then there's Daiwa, with their mag braking system which interacts with the spool rotation throughout the cast. Centrifugal brakes are probably more important for overall casting consistency. They've been around a lot longer. Mag brakes were invented as a sales aid for those afraid of baitcasters and backlashes, especially newer anglers. If you want the best of both worlds, get a dual braking system. I have many. My usual setup has the centrifugal brakes on but the mags turned off. If the wind kicks up or I'm using a higher profile bait that tends to hang in the air during the cast I can adjust the problems out with the mag brakes. Normally, on my patriarchs, my thumb is only on the spool at initial startup and when I want the lure to stop. I rarely have to thumb the spool during most of the cast.

carrot stix suck
If I ever got lost in the wilderness, a carrot stick is the one rod I'd have to have along. Stick it in the ground and search planes could see it from miles around.

I am a wiring IDIOT
I need advice. What foods did you eat that got you to the point that you can't physically run wires through your boat? I'll stay away from them for sure.

Here we go again
The commodities is like the stock exchange. They are based on speculation. Speculation which often has nothing to do with the profitability of the company whose stock is being traded. The problem with the commodities exchange is that the goods are basically sold at auction, which impacts market prices, while the value of a companies stock does not impact the market price of its goods. Actually, I should correct myself. The way the commodities market acts has little basis in reality of the supply and demand marketplace. Just a year ago, when prices were going through the roof, the explanation was the Chinese were needing all this oil to feed an increased consumption via all these new vehicles they were driving. So what happened? First, am I supposed to believe in the span of just a few months, the chinese were suddenly buying Dodge Hemi's and Escalades in record numbers? When consumption dropped to near record low levels in this country after prices pushed past $4 a gallon last summer, why didn't the prices drop as well? Did the chinese suddenly stop driving vehicles this past winter when prices dropped to $1.50 a gallon across the country? Why should prices start spiking in March and April based on sooth-sayer weather forecasts of hurricanes that MIGHT happen in 4 months? It's a system of middlemen getting to gamble and skews the typical supply and demand system this country was based on.

paypal dispute resolution/chargeback?
Good for you. I hope. I just got off the phone with Ebay myself. A seller on their with 100% feedback was selling reels and some other stuff at incredible prices. I spent around $1100 for 11 reels. Then nothing. From June 1 till just a few days ago this guy was selling stuff left and right. Within the past few days his feedback went from 100% satisfied customers to mud. 60 some odd negatives from people who didn't receive the merchandise nor even get any correspondence indicating when it would be shipped. Either his account was hijacked or this guy spent his 6 months on ebay setting up for this scam. Anyway, his account was ended. I called ebay. They put me straight through to the resolution center. Within 10 minutes I had my entire $1100 + refunded. I can't complain.
