Rant about fishing shows
Just a few things. Have you seen a typical Nascar race or a NFL football game? Commercials pay the bill. A typical fishing show doesn't have very good ratings. It takes more commercial time to pay the bills. I can't recall ever wetting my hands before lipping a fish. I find the act of swinging a fish into the boat and allowing a fish to flop around on the floor of the boat while the angler dances around, screaming and whooping it up far more disgusting and damaging to a fish. That happens frequently during the telecasts of many tournaments. Nothing stopping golf courses from planting officials on the course and telling players to pick up the pace or get off the course.

Black and White vs. Color Fishfinder
I've just recently made the switch from B & W to color on both units. This after playing with a hi def B & W unit on the front of the boat for 6 months. The color finder appears to be a little easier on the eyes to read but regardless of which you get, color or B&W, it's worth the money to get a higher definition unit. Too me, I've always used an old Eagle Mach 1 paper graph I used to own as a bench mark for comparing LCD's as far as definition. The higher res units from the past few years are finally matching that old paper graph for detail. And without the mess.

2009 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure
That has quickly become a big event here in St Louis. The public support is amazing. For those non-walkers, the local restaurants offer deals with proceeds from sales going to the cause.

Just got back from my honeymoon!
True story. In the back of the church, right after the ceremony ended my mom turns to my new wife and tells her she didn't think I'd ever get married, that I loved fishing too much to ever be able to get a women interested in me. We spent the honeymoon night in a nice little bed and breakfast in Hermann Mo. and then.... Her decision, we left there and went to Springfield MO, stayed at the Marriot, honeymoon suite and spent 2 days shopping at BPS. 8-) Good luck in your new life together.

Is the USPS really that useless?
There's no record, because you haven't received shipment. Once you receive the shipment, then there will be a record. LOL. Once I receive it, I don't need a record. When USPS tell me they have no record of such a number, it makes me wonder where the vendor got the number, if not from USPS. Neither the vendor nor the USPS refer to it as a delivery confirmation. Both call it a tracking number. That depends. From a sellers end, there are people out there that will attempt to scam you by claiming they never received an item. If I have a delivery confirmation number with a date and time delivered the buyer has two options. 1.Back off and go away, he/she no longer has an argument. 2.Call the USPS and file a claim for insurance IF they decided to purchase insurance. In this day and age, all of the delivery companies will drop a package off at your door and leave it if no one is home. What's keeping anyone from taking it? If you don't purchase insurance, you'll have an uphill battle getting compensation for the package.

Favorite Disgustingly Unhealthy Foods
I've had the sheetz before, many times actually and didn't like it. Pizza. Double stuffed oreo's. BLT sandwiches, not all that bad for you but I can't stop at one, I wind up eating like 4. Lasagna made at Riggazi's in St louis.

Favorite Disgustingly Unhealthy Foods
Fried ravioli is like a staple here in St Louis. You can buy it pre-frozen in the freezer case or google up recipes for the breading. All you need is a fry daddy and hot oil to turn regular ravioli (not chef boyardee) into fried ravioli.

They do give you a tracking number, though its for delivery confirmation, which comes free with every Priority Mail shipment. Delivery confirmation is not free with priority mail. It costs an additional 65 cents. BTW,, from the back of a delivery confirmation sticker

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
OUCH!!! on the other hand, there are people who very much want to love their revos because they were so fond of their ABU garcia round reels yet they found the "linear magnetic braking" still didn't work out for them. in fact, that would describe me perfectly. now, interestingly enough, i really like the mag brakes on ABU garcia's max reels. i have the black max and the pro max that i bought for my kids and guests to use and my experience with them in terms of casting performance has been superb. easy to use, not fussy, and great casting distance. go figure, eh? Odd isn't it? I tried a couple of those silver Max reels for a month or two just to try out a Plastic baitcaster. They're infinitely easier to cast and adjust than the Revo SX or STX. They cast a mile too. I don't know about the longevity of those reels though, the ones I had were already making noises like things weren't meshing up correctly everytime.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
I didn't know this. The first braking systems I encountered were magnetic on my Shimano Black Magnums in the early/mid 80's. So, spew the history for me. I thought mag brakes were the first to arrive. Anyway, I don't care which I have really since I learned without any brakes. My thumb seems to work well on most days. I don't even engage any of the pins on my Shimano's and never have but admittedly, my new Castaic has been giving me some fits so it might see a couple pins now. I do sometimes use the mag brakes on my revo's and Daiwa's but they never get set above 30-40% (which happens if I have to throw into a stiff wind). To expound on reel mechs explanation. Garcia rounds had centrifugal brakes for a long time, possibly even pre 1970, not sure of the year. Except they just called them brakes. It was 2 metal pins with sliding brake pads that were always on. The reel normally came with 2 extra sets of brake pads, one larger and one smaller than the stock pair on the reel. In order to "adjust" the brake, you had to change the pads which involved undoing the thumb screws on the crank side plate, pulling the plate side off which exposed the spool end. Then it was a matter of threading the old pads off and putting the other ones on. Not an easy matter on the water without dropping one of them. ;D

How many rods have you guys broke?
Back in the early days of graphite rods? Probably 2 or 3. It was not uncommon for those early graphite rods to snap on hooksets. Since then? Only 2 I can think of that broke solely due to rod failure, one of those includes a reel seat that came apart. I've broken quite a few but car doors, doors in my house, rod lockers, stepping on them, etc. is the usual way.

How bad will my boat hurt me?
A friend runs a cooler livewell in his boat and has no problems with keeping fish alive. Sometimes too alive. His only problems using it have been fish jumping out of the thing when he's opened it up to put another fish in.
